Coordinates and the modern identification come from the open atlas at OpenBible.info. For regions, peoples and large features there is no identification: the marked point only places the area on the map, and stands for neither a particular site nor its boundaries.

Can you visit it today?

The well, over forty metres deep, still yields water, drawn by bucket from the crypt of an Orthodox church completed in 2007 on Crusader and Byzantine foundations. It is among the best-supported traditions in the Holy Land: venerated without interruption since the fourth century, and never seriously claimed by a rival site.

Where it is
In the West Bank, in the Balata quarter at the eastern entrance to Nablus, below Mount Gerizim.
