1 Crónicas 17

1Morando ya David en su casa, dijo a Natán profeta: “He aquí, yo estoy habitando en una casa de cedro, mientras el Arca de la Alianza de Yahvé está debajo de lonas.” Now when David was living in his house, he said to the prophet Nathan: “Behold, I live in a house of cedar. But the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under tent skins.”2Respondió Natán a David: “Haz todo cuanto tienes en tu corazón, porque Dios está contigo.” And Nathan said to David: “Do all that is in your heart. For God is with you.”3En aquella misma noche fue dirigida a Natán la palabra de Yahvé, que decía: And yet, that night the word of God came to Nathan, saying:4“Ve, y di a mi siervo David: Así dice Yahvé: No serás tú quien me edifique Casa para que habite en ella. “Go, and speak to my servant David: Thus says the Lord: You shall not build a house for me as a dwelling place.5Pues no he habitado en casa alguna desde el día en que hice subir a los hijos de Israel hasta el día de hoy; sino que anduve de una tienda a otra y (siempre mudando mi) morada. For I have not stayed in a house from the time when I led out Israel, even to this day. Instead, I have been continually changing places, in a tabernacle and tent,6Dondequiera que iba con todo Israel, ¿dije Yo acaso una sola palabra a alguno de los Jueces de Israel a quienes mandé apacentar a mi pueblo: Por qué no me edificáis una Casa de cedro? dwelling with all of Israel. When did I ever speak to any one at all, among the judges of Israel whom I placed in charge so that they might pasture my people, saying: ‘Why have you not built a house of cedar for me?’7Dirás a mi siervo David: Así dice Yahvé de los Ejércitos: Yo te he tomado de la dehesa, de detrás de las ovejas, para que fueses el príncipe dé mi pueblo Israel. And so, now you shall say this to my servant David: Thus says the Lord of hosts: I took you when you were following the flock in the pastures, so that you would be the leader of my people Israel.8He estado contigo por dondequiera que has andado, y he extirpado a todos tus enemigos delante de ti, y te he dado nombradía semejante a la de los grandes de la tierra. And I have been with you wherever you have gone. And I have slain all your enemies before you, and I have made a name for you like one of the great ones who are celebrated upon the earth.9He concedido morada a Israel, mi pueblo, y lo he plantado para que habite en su propio lugar; y no será más inquietado, ni volverán los hijos de la iniquidad a vejarlo como al principio, And I have given a place to my people Israel. They shall be planted, and they shall live in it, and they shall no longer be moved. Neither shall the sons of iniquity wear them away, as in the beginning,10y como en los días en que constituí Jueces sobre Israel, mi pueblo. He humillado a todos tus enemigos, y te anuncio que Yahvé va a edificarte a ti una casa. from the days when I gave judges to my people Israel, and I humbled all your enemies. Therefore, I announce to you that the Lord will build a house for you.11Cuando se te cumplieren los días para que vayas a tus padres, Yo alzaré tu descendencia en pos de ti, a uno de entre tus hijos, y haré estable su reino. And when you will have completed your days, so that you go to your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall be from your sons. And I will establish his kingdom.12Él me edificará una Casa, y Yo haré estable su trono para siempre. He shall build a house for me, and I will make firm his throne, even unto eternity.13Yo seré padre para él, y él será hijo para Mí, y no apartaré de él mi gracia, como la aparté de aquel que te ha precedido. I will be a father to him, and he shall be a son to me. And I will not take away my mercy from him, as I took it away from the one who was before you.14Yo lo estableceré en mi Casa y en mi reino eternamente, y su trono será establecido para siempre.” And I will station him in my house and in my kingdom, even forever. And his throne will be very firm, in perpetuity.”15Conforme a todas estas palabras, y conforme a toda esta visión, habló Natán con David. According to all these words, and according to this entire vision, so did Nathan speak to David.16Fue entonces el rey David, y se sentó delante de Yahvé y dijo: “¿Quién soy yo, oh Yahvé Dios, y cuál es mi casa, para que me hayas elevado hasta aquí? And when king David had departed, and had sat down before the Lord, he said: “Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house, that you would grant such things to me?17Y esto es todavía poco a tus ojos, oh Dios; pues has hablado del lejano porvenir de la casa de tu siervo, y me miras como si fuese un hombre distinguido, oh Yahvé Dios. But even this has seemed little in your sight, and therefore you have also spoken about the house of your servant even for the future. And you have made me a spectacle above all men, O Lord God.18¿Qué más podrá decirte David de la honra (concedida) a tu siervo?, pues Tú conoces a tu siervo. What more can David add, since you have so glorified your servant, and have known him?19Oh Yahvé, por amor de tu siervo, y según tu corazón, has hecho toda esta cosa tan grande, para manifestar todas estas grandezas. O Lord, because of your servant, in accord with your own heart, you have brought about all this magnificence, and you have willed all these great things to be known.20Oh Yahvé, no hay semejante a Ti, ni hay otro Dios fuera de Ti, según todo lo que hemos oído con nuestros oídos. O Lord, there is no one like you. And there is no other God apart from you, out of all whom we have heard about with our ears.21Y ¿qué otra nación hay en la tierra semejante a Israel, tu pueblo, que Dios fue a rescatar para hacerlo pueblo suyo? Así te ganaste un nombre mediante obras grandes y terribles, arrojando naciones de delante de tu pueblo que rescataste de Egipto. For what other single nation upon earth is like your people Israel, to whom God reached out, so that he might free them, and might make a people for himself, and by his greatness and terribleness cast out the nations before the face of those whom he had freed from Egypt?22Tú has constituido a Israel, tu pueblo, como pueblo tuyo para siempre; y Tú, Yahvé, te has hecho su Dios. And you have set your people Israel to be your people, even unto eternity. And you, O Lord, have become their God.23Ahora, oh Yahvé, sea firme para siempre la palabra que has dicho respecto de tu siervo y respecto de su casa; y haz según tu palabra. Now therefore, O Lord, let the word that you have spoken to your servant, and over his house, be confirmed in perpetuity, and do just as you have spoken.24Sí, sea firme; y sea tu nombre glorificado eternamente cuando se diga: Yahvé de los Ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, es el Dios para Israel. Y la casa de tu siervo David sea estable delante de Ti. And may your name remain and be magnified even for all time. And let it be said: ‘The Lord of hosts is the God of Israel. And the house of his servant David remains forever before him.’25Por cuanto Tú, oh Dios mío, has revelado a tu siervo que vas a edificarle una casa, por esto tu siervo se ha atrevido a orar delante de Ti. For you, O Lord my God, have revealed to the ear of your servant that you will build a house for him. And therefore your servant has found faith so that he might pray before you.26Ahora, Yahvé, Tú eres Dios, y Tú has prometido este bien a tu siervo. Now then, O Lord, you are God. And you have spoken to your servant such great benefits.27Y ahora te has dignado bendecir la casa de tu siervo, para que permanezca siempre delante de Ti. Porque lo que Tú, oh Yahvé, bendices, es bendito para siempre.” And you have begun to bless the house of your servant, so that it may be always before you. For since it is you who is blessing, O Lord, it shall be blessed forever.”
