1 Corintios 13
1Aunque yo hable la lengua de los hombres y de los ángeles, si no tengo amor, soy como bronce que suena o címbalo que retiñe. If I were to speak in the language of men, or of Angels, yet not have charity, I would be like a clanging bell or a crashing cymbal.2Y aunque tenga (don de) profecía, y sepa todos los misterios, y toda la ciencia, y tenga toda la fe en forma que traslade montañas, si no tengo amor, nada soy. And if I have prophecy, and learn every mystery, and obtain all knowledge, and possess all faith, so that I could move mountains, yet not have charity, then I am nothing.3Y si repartiese mi hacienda toda, y si entregase mi cuerpo para ser quemado, mas no tengo caridad, nada me aprovecha. And if I distribute all my goods in order to feed the poor, and if I hand over my body to be burned, yet not have charity, it offers me nothing.4El amor es paciente; el amor es benigno, sin envidia; el amor no es jactancioso, no se engríe; Charity is patient, is kind. Charity does not envy, does not act wrongly, is not inflated.5no hace nada que no sea conveniente, no busca lo suyo, no se irrita, no piensa mal; Charity is not ambitious, does not seek for itself, is not provoked to anger, devises no evil.6no se regocija en la injusticia, antes se regocija con la verdad; Charity does not rejoice over iniquity, but rejoices in truth.7todo lo sobrelleva, todo lo cree, todo lo espera, todo lo soporta. Charity suffers all, believes all, hopes all, endures all.8El amor nunca se acaba; en cambio, las profecías terminarán, las lenguas cesarán, la ciencia tendrá su fin. Charity is never torn away, even if prophecies pass away, or languages cease, or knowledge is destroyed.9Porque (solo) en parte conocemos, y en parte profetizamos; For we know only in part, and we prophesy only in part.10mas cuando llegue lo perfecto, entonces lo parcial se acabará. But when the perfect arrives, the imperfect passes away.11Cuando yo era niño, hablaba como niño, pensaba como niño, razonaba como niño; mas cuando llegué a ser hombre, me deshice de las cosas de niño. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I understood like a child, I thought like a child. But when I became a man, I put aside the things of a child.12Porque ahora miramos en un enigma, a través de un espejo; mas entonces veremos cara a cara. Ahora conozco en parte, entonces conoceré plenamente de la manera en que también fui conocido. Now we see through a glass darkly. But then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know, even as I am known.13Al presente permanecen la fe, la esperanza y la caridad, estas tres; mas la mayor de ellas es la caridad. But for now, these three continue: faith, hope, and charity. And the greatest of these is charity.
