1El año cuatrocientos ochenta después de la salida de los hijos de Israel de la tierra de Egipto, el cuarto año del reinado de Salomón sobre Israel, en el mes de Zif, que es el mes segundo (Salomón) comenzó a edificar la Casa de Yahvé. Then it happened that, in the four hundred and eightieth year after the sons of Israel departed from the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of the reign of Solomon over Israel, in the month of Ziv, which is the second month, the house of the Lord began to be built.2La Casa que el rey Salomón edificó para Yahvé tenía sesenta codos de largo, veinte codos de ancho y treinta codos de alto. Now the house, which king Solomon was building to the Lord, was sixty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in width, and thirty cubits in height.3Delante de la Casa había un pórtico de veinte codos de largo, correspondiente al ancho de la Casa, y de diez codos de fondo por delante de la Casa. And a portico was before the temple, of twenty cubits in length, in accord with the measure of the width of the temple. And it had ten cubits of width before the face of the temple.4Hizo en la Casa también ventanas, que dejaban entrar un poco de luz, And he made oblique windows in the temple.5y todo en derredor de las paredes de la Casa construyó pisos laterales, adosados a las paredes de la Casa, así del Templo como del Santísimo; y en ellos hizo cámaras laterales en todo su derredor. And upon the wall of the temple, he built panels on all sides, in the walls of the house around the temple and the oracle. And he made side chambers all around.6El piso de abajo tenía cinco codos de ancho; el de en medio, seis codos de ancho, y el tercero, siete codos de ancho; porque se hicieron encogimientos en el muro exterior, todo alrededor de la Casa, para que (las vigas) no entrasen en las paredes mismas de la Casa. The flooring on the bottom level held five cubits in width, and the middle floor was six cubits in width, and the third floor held seven cubits in width. Then he positioned beams on the house all around the outside, in such a way that they would not be fastened to the walls of the temple.7En la construcción de la Casa se usaban solamente piedras, labradas ya en las canteras, de manera que durante la construcción no se dejó oír en la Casa ni martillo, ni punzón, ni ningún instrumento de hierro. Now the house, while it was being built, was made from cut and finished stones. And so, neither mallet, nor chisel, nor any tool of iron was heard in the house while it was being built.8La entrada a las cámaras del piso inferior estaba en la parte derecha de la Casa; por una escalera de caracol se subía al piso de en medio, y de este al tercero. The door at the side of the middle section was to the right of the house. And they would ascend along winding stairs to the middle level, and from the middle level to the third level.9Así edificó (Salomón) la Casa, y cuando la hubo terminado, la cubrió con vigas y tablas de cedro. And he built the house, and finished it. And he overlaid the house with boards of cedar.10A los pisos laterales que edificó junto a (la pared) de la Casa, les dio una altura de cinco codos y los trabó con la Casa por medio de maderas de cedro. And he built a paneling over the entire house, five cubits in height, and he covered the house with cedar wood.11Después de lo cual llegó esta palabra de Yahvé a Salomón: And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying:12“(Me agrada) esta Casa que estás edificando; si tú siguieres mis leyes, y cumplieres mis preceptos, y observares todos mis mandamientos, practicándolos, entonces Yo cumpliré contigo mi promesa que he dado a David, tu padre; “Concerning this house, which you are building: if you will walk in my precepts, and carry out my judgments, and keep all my commandments, advancing by them, I will confirm my word to you, which I spoke to your father David.13y habitaré en medio de los hijos de Israel, y no abandonaré a Israel, mi pueblo.” And I will dwell in the midst of the sons of Israel, and I will not forsake my people Israel.”14Así, pues, Salomón edificó la Casa y la acabó. And he built the walls of the house, on the interior, with panels of cedar, from the floor of the house, to the top of the walls, and even to the ceiling. He covered it with cedar wood on the interior. And he overlaid the floor of the house with panels of spruce.16Asimismo revistió los veinte codos del fondo de la Casa con tablas de cedro, desde el suelo hasta el techo, y reservó su espacio interior para el Sancta Sanctorum, o sea, el Santísimo. And he built panels of cedar, of twenty cubits, at the back part of the temple, from the floor even to the top. And he made the inner house of the oracle as the Holy of Holies.17La Casa, es decir, el Templo delante del (Santísimo) , tenía cuarenta codos (de largo). And the temple itself, before the doors of the oracle, was forty cubits.18La madera de cedro, en el interior de la Casa, presentaba entalladuras de coloquíntidas y guirnaldas de flores. Todo era de cedro; no se dejaba ver piedra alguna. And the entire house was clothed with cedar on the interior, having its turnings and junctures artfully wrought, with carvings projecting outward. Everything was clothed with panels of cedar. And no stone at all was able to be seen in the wall.19El Santísimo lo estableció en el fondo, en la parte más interior de la Casa, para poner allí el Arca de la Alianza de Yahvé. Now he made the oracle in the middle of the house, in the inner part, so that he might station the ark of the covenant of the Lord there.20El interior del Santísimo tenía veinte codos de largo, veinte codos de ancho y veinte codos de alto. Lo revistió de oro fino, pero el altar lo recubrió de cedro. And the oracle held twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in width, and twenty cubits in height. And he covered and clothed it with the purest gold. Then, too, he clothed the altar in cedar.21Así revistió Salomón el interior de la Casa de oro fino, e hizo tender cadenas de oro delante del Santísimo, que también revistió de oro, Also, the house before the oracle, he covered with the purest gold, and he fastened the plates with nails of gold.22de manera que revistió de oro toda la Casa, la casa toda entera. Había, pues, diez codos desde la punta de una ala hasta la punta de la otra. One wing of a cherub was five cubits, and the other wing of a cherub was five cubits, that is, having ten cubits from the summit of one wing even to the summit of the other wing.25Diez codos tenía también el segundo querubín. Una misma medida, y una misma forma tenían los dos querubines. Likewise, the second cherub was ten cubits. And the measure was equal and the work was one, in the two cherubim,26La altura de un querubín era de diez codos; así era también el otro querubín. that is, one cherub had a height of ten cubits, and similarly the second cherub.27Colocó a los querubines en medio de la Casa interior. Los querubines tenían las alas desplegadas, de suerte que el ala del uno tocaba en la pared, y el ala del segundo querubín tocaba en la otra pared, y se tocaban, ala con ala, en el medio de la Casa. And he stationed the cherubim in the middle of the inner temple. And the cherubim extended their wings, and the wing of the one was touching the wall, and the wing of the second cherub was touching the other wall. But the other wings, in the middle of the temple, were touching each another.28Cubrió también de oro a los querubines. He also overlaid the cherubim with gold.29En todas las paredes que rodeaban la Casa hizo esculpir figuras entalladas de querubines, de palmas y de guirnaldas de flores, tanto por dentro como por fuera. Then, too, the floor of the house he overlaid with gold within and without.31Las dos hojas de la puerta del Santísimo las hizo de madera de olivo. El jambaje de ellas con los postes ocupaba la quinta parte (de la pared). And at the entrance of the oracle, he made little doors, from wood of the olive tree, with posts of five corners.32Sobre las dos hojas de madera de olivo esculpió entalladuras de querubines, de palmas y de guirnaldas de flores, y las revistió de oro, extendiendo el oro sobre los querubines y sobre las palmas. And there were two doors, from wood of the olive tree. And he carved upon them pictures of cherubim, and images of palm trees, and very prominent figures. And he overlaid these with gold. And he covered the cherubim, as well as the palm trees and the other things, with gold.33Hizo, además, para la puerta del Templo postes de madera de olivo, que ocupaban la cuarta parte (de la pared) And he made, at the entrance of the temple, posts from wood of the olive tree, with four corners,34y dos hojas de madera de ciprés. And each door was double, and so it opened by folding upon itself.35Esculpió sobre ellas querubines, palmas y guirnaldas de flores, y las revistió de oro, ajustándolo a las entalladuras. And he carved cherubim, and palm trees, and very prominent engravings. And he covered everything with gold plates, worked to be perfectly square.36Hizo también el atrio interior de tres órdenes de piedras labradas, y un orden de vigas de cedro. And he built the inner atrium with three rows of polished stones, and one row of cedar wood.37Echáronse los cimientos de la Casa de Yahvé el año cuarto, en el mes de Zif; In the fourth year, the house of the Lord was founded, in the month of Ziv.38y el año undécimo, en el mes de Bul, que es el mes octavo, se terminó la Casa en todas sus partes y con arreglo a todo lo dispuesto. La edificó en siete años. And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was perfected in all its works and in all its equipment. And he built it for seven years.
