1Mientras Josafat, rey de Judá, regresaba en paz a su casa, a Jerusalén, Then Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, returned in peace to his house in Jerusalem.2salió a su encuentro el vidente Jehú, hijo de Hananí, el cual dijo al rey Josafat: “¿Tú ayudas a los malos, y amas a los que aborrecen a Yahvé? Por esto ha caído sobre ti la ira de Yahvé. And the seer Jehu, the son of Hanani, met him, and said to him: “You offer assistance to the impious, and you are joined in friendship with those who hate the Lord. And for this reason, you certainly deserve the wrath of the Lord.3Sin embargo, han sido halladas en ti también obras buenas, por cuanto has quitado del país las ascheras y has dispuesto tu corazón para buscar a Yahvé.” But good works have been found in you. For you have taken away the sacred groves from the land of Judah. And you have prepared your heart, so as to seek the Lord, the God of your fathers.”4Residía Josafat en Jerusalén, mas volvió a visitar al pueblo desde Bersabee hasta la montaña de Efraím; y los convirtió de nuevo a Yahvé, el Dios de sus padres. Then Jehoshaphat lived in Jerusalem. And again he went out to the people, from Beersheba as far as mount Ephraim. And he called them back to the Lord, the God of their fathers.5Estableció jueces en el país, en todas las ciudades fortificadas de Judá, ciudad por ciudad; And he appointed judges of the land, in all the fortified cities of Judah, in each place.6y dijo a los jueces: “Mirad lo que hacéis; porque no sois jueces en lugar de hombres, sino en lugar de Yahvé, el cual está con vosotros cuando juzgáis. And instructing the judges, he said: “Pay attention to what you are doing. For you exercise judgment, not of man, but of the Lord. And whatever you will have judged, it will come back to you.7Sea, pues, sobre vosotros el temor de Yahvé. Cumplid cuidadosamente vuestro oficio, porque para con Yahvé, nuestro Dios, no hay iniquidad, ni acepción de personas, ni cohecho.” Let the fear of the Lord be with you, and do all things with diligence. For there is no iniquity with the Lord our God, nor respect of persons, nor desire for gifts.”8También en Jerusalén constituyó Josafat levitas, sacerdotes y cabezas de las casas paternas de Israel, para la administración de la justicia de Yahvé y para las causas (profanas). Ellos habitaban en Jerusalén. Jehoshaphat also appointed Levites and priests and leaders of families, out of Israel, in Jerusalem, so that they might judge the judgment and purpose of the Lord for its inhabitants.9Les dio esta orden: “Proceded así en el temor de Yahvé, con fidelidad y con corazón perfecto. And he instructed them, saying, “So shall you act: faithfully, in the fear of the Lord, and with a perfect heart.10En todo pleito que venga a vosotros de parte de vuestros hermanos que habitan en sus ciudades, sean causas de sangre, o cuestiones de la Ley, de los mandamientos, preceptos y ceremonias, habéis de esclarecerlos, a fin de que no se hagan culpables para con Yahvé, y se encienda su ira contra vosotros y contra vuestros hermanos. Haciendo así, no os haréis culpables. Every case that will come to you from your brothers, who live in their cities, between kindred and kindred, wherever there is a question concerning law, commandment, ceremonies, or justifications, reveal it to them, so that they may not sin against the Lord, and so that wrath may not overwhelm you and your brothers. Then, by acting in this way, you will not sin.11Y he aquí que Amarías, sumo sacerdote, será vuestro jefe en todos los asuntos de Yahvé, y Zabadías, hijo de Ismael, príncipe de la casa de Judá, en todos los asuntos del rey. También para magistrados están los levitas a vuestra disposición. ¡Esforzaos, y manos a la obra! Pues Dios esta con los buenos.” But Amariah, a priest and your high priest, shall preside over those things which pertain to God. Then Zebadiah, the son of Ishmael, who is a ruler in the house of Judah, shall be over those works that pertain to the office of the king. And you have before you the Levites as teachers. Be strengthened and act diligently, and the Lord will be with you for what is good.”
