1Respecto al socorro en favor de los santos no necesito escribiros. Now, concerning the ministry that is done toward the saints, it is not necessary for me to write to you.2Pues conozco vuestra prontitud de ánimo, por la cual me glorío de vosotros entre los macedonios (diciéndoles), que Acaya está ya pronta desde el año pasado, y vuestro celo ha estimulado a muchísimos. For I know your willing mind. I glory about you, concerning this, to the Macedonians. For Achaia has also been prepared, for the past year. And your example has inspired very many others.3Envío, empero, a los hermanos, para que nuestra gloria acerca de vosotros no quede vana en este punto y para que, según he dicho, estéis preparados; Now I have sent the brothers, so that what we glory about concerning you might not be empty in this matter, in order that (as I have explained) you may be prepared.4no sea que si vinieren conmigo macedonios y os hallaren desprevenidos, tengamos nosotros —por no decir vosotros— que avergonzarnos en esta materia. Otherwise, if the Macedonians arrive with me and find you unprepared, we (not to mention you) would be ashamed in this matter.5Tuve, pues, por necesario rogar a los hermanos que se adelantasen en ir a vosotros, y preparasen de antemano vuestra bendición ya prometida, de manera que esté a punto como bendición y no como avaricia. Therefore, I considered it necessary to ask the brothers to go to you in advance and to prepare this blessing as promised, and in this way, you may be ready as a blessing, not as an excess.6Pues digo: El que siembra con mezquindad, con mezquindad cosechará, y el que siembra en bendiciones, bendiciones recogerá. But I say this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. And whoever sows with blessings shall also reap from blessings:7Haga cada cual según tiene determinado en su corazón, no de mala gana, ni por fuerza; porque dador alegre ama Dios. each one giving, just as he has determined in his heart, neither out of sadness, nor out of obligation. For God loves a cheerful giver.8Y poderoso es Dios para hacer abundar sobre vosotros toda gracia a fin de que, teniendo siempre todo lo suficiente en todo, os quede abundantemente para toda obra buena, And God is able to make every grace abound in you, so that, always having what you need in all things, you may abound unto every good work,9según está escrito: “Desparramó, dando a los pobres; su justicia permanece para siempre”. just as it was written: “He has distributed widely, he has given to the poor; his justice remains from age to age.”10Y el que suministra semilla al que siembra, dará también pan para alimento, y multiplicará vuestra sementera y acrecentará los frutos de vuestra justicia, And he who ministers seed to the sower will offer you bread to eat, and will multiply your seed, and will increase the growth of the fruits of your justice.11de modo que seáis en todo enriquecidos para toda liberalidad, la cual por medio de nosotros produce acción de gracias a Dios. So then, having been enriched in all things, you may abound in all simplicity, which works thanksgiving to God through us.12Porque el ministerio de esta oblación no solo remedia las necesidades de los santos, sino que también redunda en copiosas acciones de gracias a Dios. For the ministration of this office not only supplies whatever the saints need, but also abounds through many thanksgivings in the Lord.13Pues al experimentar este servicio glorifican a Dios por la obediencia que profesáis al Evangelio de Cristo, y por la liberalidad con que comunicáis lo vuestro a ellos y a todos. And so, through the evidence of this ministry, you glorify God by the obedience of your confession in the Gospel of Christ, and by the simplicity of your communion with them and with everyone,14Y ellos, a su vez, ruegan por vosotros, amándoos ardientemente a causa de la sobreexcelente gracia de Dios derramada sobre vosotros. and they offer prayers for you, being solicitous about you, because of the excellent grace of God within you.15¡Gracias a Dios por su inefable don! Thanks be to God for his ineffable gift.
