1El año doce de Acaz, rey dé Judá, Oseas, hijo de Elá, comenzó a reinar sobre Israel, en Samaria. (Reinó) nueve años, In the twelfth year of Ahaz, the king of Judah: Hoshea, the son of Elah, reigned over Israel, in Samaria, for nine years.2e hizo lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé, pero no tanto como los reyes de Israel que le precedieron. And he did evil before the Lord, but not like the kings of Israel who had been before him.3Contra él subió Salmanasar, rey de Asiria, y Oseas se hizo vasallo suyo, pagándole tributo. Shalmaneser, the king of the Assyrians, ascended against him. And Hoshea became a servant to him, and he paid him tribute.4Mas el rey de Asiria descubrió una conspiración de Oseas que había enviado embajadores a Sua, rey de Egipto, y no pagó más el tributo al rey de Asiria, como solía hacer anualmente. Por lo cual el rey de Asiria lo tomó preso y lo encarceló. And when the king of the Assyrians discovered that Hoshea, striving to rebel, had sent messengers to Sais, to the king of Egypt, so as not to present the tribute to the king of the Assyrians, as he had been accustomed to do each year, he besieged him. And having been bound, he cast him into prison.5Después el rey de Asiria recorrió todo el país y subió contra Samaria, y la tuvo sitiada durante tres años. And he wandered through the entire land. And in the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of the Assyrians captured Samaria, and he carried away Israel to Assyria. And he stationed them in Halah and in Habor, beside the river of Gozan, in the cities of the Medes.7Esto sucedió porque los hijos de Israel habían pecado contra Yahvé, su Dios, que los había sacado de la tierra de Egipto, de bajo de la mano del Faraón, rey de Egipto, y porque habían servido a otros dioses, For it happened that, when the sons of Israel had sinned against the Lord, their God, who had led them away from the land of Egypt, from the hand of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, they worshipped strange gods.8e imitado los cultos de los pueblos que Yahvé había expulsado ante los hijos de Israel, y los cultos introducidos por los reyes de Israel. And they walked according to the rituals of the nations that the Lord had consumed in the sight of the sons of Israel, and of the kings of Israel. For they had acted similarly.9Pues los hijos de Israel no obraron con sinceridad con Yahvé, su Dios, edificaron lugares altos en todas sus ciudades, desde la torre de atalaya hasta la ciudad fortificada, And the sons of Israel offended the Lord, their God, with deeds that were not upright. And they built for themselves high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city.10alzaron piedras de culto y ascheras sobre todo collado alto y debajo de todo árbol frondoso; And they made for themselves statues and sacred groves, on every high hill and under every leafy tree.11y allí, en todos los lugares altos, quemaron incienso como los pueblos que Yahvé había quitado de delante de ellos. Así hicieron cosas malas, provocando la ira de Yahvé, And they were burning incense there, upon altars, in the manner of the nations that the Lord had removed from their face. And they did wicked deeds, provoking the Lord.12y dando culto a los ídolos, respecto de los cuales Yahvé les había dicho: “¡No hagáis tal cosa!” And they worshipped impurities, concerning which the Lord instructed them that they should not do this word.13Yahvé no dejó de dar testimonio contra Israel y contra Judá, por medio de todos sus profetas y de todos los videntes, diciendo: “Abandonad vuestros malos caminos y observad mis mandamientos y mis preceptos, siguiendo fielmente la Ley que yo he prescrito a vuestros padres, y que os he transmitido por medio de mis siervos los profetas.” And the Lord testified to them, in Israel and in Judah, through the hand of all the prophets and seers, saying: “Return from your wicked ways, and keep my precepts and ceremonies, in accord with the entire law, which I instructed to your fathers, and just as I sent to you by the hand of my servants, the prophets.”14Pero ellos no quisieron escuchar, antes endurecieron su cerviz, como lo habían hecho sus padres, que no dieron crédito a Yahvé, su Dios. But they did not listen. Instead, they hardened their necks to be like the neck of their fathers, who were not willing to obey the Lord, their God.15Desecharon sus leyes y la alianza que Él había hecho con sus padres, y las amonestaciones con que los reconvino, y marcharon tras la vanidad, infatuándose por la misma, y en pos de las naciones que estaban en derredor de ellos; respecto de los cuales Yahvé les había mandado que no los imitasen. And they cast aside his ordinances, and the covenant that he formed with their fathers, and the testimonies which he testified to them. And they pursued vanities and acted vainly. And they followed the nations that were all around them, concerning the things which the Lord had commanded them not to do, and which they did.16Abandonaron todos los mandamientos de Yahvé, su Dios, y se hicieron imágenes de fundición, los dos becerros. Hicieron también ascheras, postrándose ante toda la milicia del cielo, y sirvieron a Baal. And they abandoned all the precepts of the Lord, their God. And they made for themselves two molten calves and sacred groves. And they adored the entire celestial army. And they served Baal.17Hicieron pasar a sus hijos y a sus hijas por el fuego, practicaron la adivinación y los encantamientos, y se entregaron a cuanto era malo a los ojos de Yahvé, para irritarle. And they consecrated their sons and their daughters through fire. And they devoted themselves to divinations and soothsaying. And they delivered themselves into the doing of evil before the Lord, so that they provoked him.18Por eso Yahvé se irritó fuertemente contra Israel y los apartó de su presencia, quedando solamente la tribu de Judá; And the Lord became vehemently angry with Israel, and he took them away from his sight. And there remained no one, except the tribe of Judah alone.19aunque Judá tampoco guardó los mandamientos de Yahvé, su Dios, sino que imitaron los cultos que Israel había, introducido. But even Judah did not keep the commandments of the Lord, their God. Instead, they walked in the errors of Israel, which they had wrought.20Por eso desechó Yahvé a toda la descendencia de Israel, los humilló y los entregó en manos de salteadores hasta arrojarlos de su presencia. And the Lord cast aside all of the offspring of Israel. And he afflicted them, and he delivered them into the hand of despoilers, until he drove them away from his face,21Porque cuando Él arrancó a Israel de la casa de David, y ellos constituyeron rey a Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, este Jeroboam apartó a Israel de Yahvé, y los hizo cometer un gran pecado. even from that time when Israel was torn away from the house of David, and they appointed for themselves Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, as king. And they did not withdraw from these,23hasta que Yahvé quitó de su presencia a Israel, como había anunciado por todos sus siervos los profetas. Y así Israel fue llevado cautivo de su tierra a Asiria, hasta el día de hoy. even when the Lord carried away Israel from his face, just as he had said by the hand of all his servants, the prophets. And Israel was carried away from their land into Assyria, even to this day.24El rey de Asiria trajo gentes de Babilonia, de Cuta, de Avá, de Hamat y de Sefarvaim, y las estableció en las ciudades de Samaria, en lugar de los israelitas, y tomaron posesión de Samaria y habitaron en las ciudades de (Israel). Then the king of the Assyrians brought some from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Avva, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim. And he located them in the cities of Samaria, in place of the sons of Israel. And they possessed Samaria, and they lived in its cities.25Mas cuando comenzaron a habitar allí, sin temor de Yahvé, envió, Yahvé contra ellos leones, que los mataron. And when they had begun to live there, they did not fear the Lord. And the Lord sent lions among them, which were killing them.26Por lo cual enviaron a decir al rey de Asiria: “Las gentes que tú has transportado para establecerlas en las ciudades de Samaria, no saben cómo servir al dios del país; este ha enviado contra ellas leones que las están matando, pues ellas no saben cómo servir al dios del país.” And this was reported to the king of the Assyrians, and it was said: “The peoples that you transferred and caused to live in the cities of Samaria, they are ignorant of the ordinances of the God of the land. And so the Lord has sent lions among them. And behold, they have killed them, because they were ignorant of the rituals of the God of the land.”27Dio entonces el rey de Asiria esta orden: “Llevad allá uno de los sacerdotes que de allí habéis traído cautivo, y vaya y habite allí, y les enseñe cómo servir al dios del país.” Then the king of the Assyrians commanded, saying: “Lead to that place one of the priests, whom you brought as a captive from there. And let him go and live with them. And let him teach them the ordinances of the God of the land.”28Llegó uno de los sacerdotes que habían sido llevados cautivos de Samaria, y habitó en Betel, y les enseñó cómo habían de temer a Yahvé. And so, when one of the priests, who had been led away captive from Samaria, had arrived, he lived in Bethel. And he taught them how they should worship the Lord.29Con todo, cada nación se fabricó su propio dios, que pusieron en los santuarios de los lugares altos que los samaritanos habían edificado, cada nación en las ciudades donde habitaba. And each of the nations made gods of their own, and they placed them in the shrines of the high places, which the Samaritans had made: nation after nation, in their cities in which they were living.30Los que habían venido de Babilonia pusieron a Sucot-Benot, los de Cuta a Nergal, los de Hamat a Asimá, So the men of Babylon made Soccoth-benoth; and the men of Cuth made Nergal; and the men of Hamath made Ashima;31los de Avá a Nibcaz y a Tartac, y los de Sefarvaim entregaban a sus hijos al fuego en honor de Adramelec y Anamelec, dioses de Sefarvaim. and the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak. Then those who were from Sepharvaim burned up their children with fire, for the gods of Sepharvaim: Adram-melech and Anam-melech.32Temían también a Yahvé y hacían para sí sacerdotes de los lugares altos, tomándolos del vulgo, los cuales ofrecían por ellos sacrificios en los santuarios de los lugares altos. But nevertheless, they worshipped the Lord. Then they made for themselves, from the least of the people, priests of the high places. And they placed them in the shrines of the high places.33Temían a Yahvé, y al mismo tiempo servían a sus propios dioses, según la costumbre de las naciones de donde habían sido transportados. And though they worshipped the Lord, they also served their own gods, according to the custom of the nations from which they had been transferred into Samaria.34Hasta este día siguen ellos sus antiguas costumbres. No temen a Yahvé, ni obran según las normas y estatutos, ni tampoco según la Ley y los mandamientos que Yahvé prescribió a los hijos de Jacob, a quien dio el nombre de Israel. Even to the present day, they follow the ancient customs; they do not fear the Lord, and they do not keep his ceremonies, and judgments, and law, and commandment, which the Lord had instructed to the sons of Jacob, whom he named Israel.35Yahvé había hecho con ellos alianza y les había mandado, diciendo: “No temáis a otros dioses, ni os prosternéis delante de ellos, ni los sirváis, ni les ofrezcáis sacrificios. And he had struck a covenant with them, and he had commanded them, saying: “You shall not fear foreign gods, and you shall not adore them, and you shall not worship them, and you shall not sacrifice to them.36A Yahvé, que os ha sacado del país de Egipto con gran poder y con brazo extendido, a Él habéis de temer; delante de Él habéis de prosternaros, y a Él habéis de ofrecer sacrificios. But the Lord, your God, who led you away from the land of Egypt, with great strength and with an outstretched arm, him shall you fear, and him shall you adore, and to him shall you sacrifice.37Observad los preceptos y los estatutos, la Ley y los mandamientos que Él escribió para vosotros. Cuidad de ponerlos en práctica todos los días; y no temáis a otros dioses. Also, the ceremonies, and judgments, and law, and commandment, which he wrote for you, you shall keep so that you do them for all days. And you shall not fear strange gods.38No olvidéis la alianza que hice con vosotros, ni temáis a otros dioses; And the covenant, which he struck with you, you shall not forget; neither shall you worship strange gods.39sino temed a Yahvé, vuestro Dios, y Él os librará de las manos de todos vuestros enemigos.” But you shall fear the Lord, your God. And he will rescue you from the hand of all your enemies.”40Pero ellos no escucharon, sino que están obrando todavía conforme a su antigua costumbre. Yet truly, they did not listen to this. Instead, they acted in accord with their earlier custom.41Estas naciones temen, por una parte, a Yahvé, y por la otra sirven a sus estatuas; y sus hijos y los hijos de sus hijos obran hasta hoy de la misma manera que sus padres. And such were these nations: to some extent fearing the Lord, yet nevertheless also serving their idols. As for their sons and grandsons, just as their fathers acted, so also did they act, even to the present day.
