1Preguntó David: “¿Queda todavía alguno de la casa de Saúl, a quien pueda yo hacer merced por amor a Jonatán?” And David said, “Do you think that there could be anyone left from the house of Saul, so that I might show mercy to him because of Jonathan?”2Y había un siervo de la casa de Saúl que se llamaba Sibá, al cual llamaron ante David, y el rey le preguntó: “¿Eres tú Sibá?” Él respondió: “Tu siervo.” Now there was, from the house of Saul, a servant named Ziba. And when the king had called him to himself, he said to him, “Are you not Ziba?” And he responded, “I am your servant.”3Dijo el rey: “¿Queda aún persona alguna de la casa de Saúl para que pueda yo hacerle misericordia de Dios?” Sibá respondió al rey: “Vive todavía un hijo de Jonatán, lisiado de ambos pies.” And the king said, “Could there be anyone alive from the house of Saul, so that I may show the mercy of God to him?” And Ziba said to the king, “There is left alive a son of Jonathan, with disabled feet.”4El rey le preguntó: “¿Dónde está?” Y dijo Sibá al rey: “He aquí que está en casa de Maquir, hijo de Amiel, en Lodebar.” “Where is he?” he said. And Ziba said to the king, “Behold, he is in the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, in Lodebar.”5Entonces el rey David envió por él, y le trajeron de la casa de Maquir, hijo de Amiel, de Lodebar. Therefore, king David sent and brought him from the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, from Lodebar.6Llegó, pues, Mefibóset, hijo de Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, a David, y prosternándose cayó sobre su rostro. Dijo David: “¿Mefibóset?” A lo cual él respondió: “Aquí tienes a tu siervo.” And when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, had come to David, he fell upon his face, and he reverenced. And David said, “Mephibosheth?” And he responded, “Your servant is here.”7“No temas, le dijo David, pues pienso hacerte merced, por amor a Jonatán, tu padre; te restituiré todas las heredades de tu abuelo Saúl y comerás siempre a mi mesa.” And David said to him: “Do not be afraid. For I will certainly show mercy to you because of your father Jonathan. And I will restore to you all the fields of your father Saul. And you shall eat bread at my table always.”8Entonces él le hizo profunda reverencia, y exclamó: “¿Qué soy yo, siervo tuyo, para que vuelvas tu rostro hacia un perro muerto cual soy yo?” And reverencing him, he said, “Who am I, your servant, that you should look with favor upon a dead dog like me?”9Luego llamó el rey a Sibá, siervo de Saúl, y le dijo: “Todo cuanto era de Saúl y de toda su casa se lo doy al hijo de tu señor. And so, the king called Ziba, the servant of Saul, and he said to him: “Everything whatsoever that belonged to Saul, and his entire house, I have given to the son of your lord.10Labrarás para él las tierras, tú y tus hijos y tus siervos, y harás la cosecha para que la casa de tu señor tenga pan que comer; mas Mefibóset, hijo de tu señor, comerá siempre a mi mesa.” Tenía Sibá quince hijos y veinte siervos; And so, work the land for him, you and your sons and your servants. And you shall bring in food for the son of your lord, for nourishment. And Mephibosheth, the son of your lord, shall always eat bread at my table.” Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.11y dijo Sibá al rey: “Tu siervo hará todo lo que mi señor, el rey, le ha mandado.” Comió, pues, Mefibóset a la mesa (de David), como uno de los hijos del rey. And Ziba said to the king: “Just as my lord has ordered your servant, so will your servant do. And Mephibosheth shall eat at my table, like one of the sons of the king.”12Tenía Mefibóset un hijo pequeño, que se llamaba Micá; y todos los que vivían en la casa de Sibá eran siervos de Mefibóset. Now Mephibosheth had a young son whose name was Mica. Truly, all the kindred of the house of Ziba served Mephibosheth.13Mefibóset habitaba en Jerusalén, porque comía siempre a la mesa del rey; era cojo de ambos pies. But Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem. For he was fed always from the table of the king. And he was lame in both feet.
