1Pero, con respecto a la Parusía de nuestro Señor Jesucristo y nuestra común unión a Él, os rogamos, hermanos, But we ask you, brothers, concerning the advent of our Lord Jesus Christ and of our gathering to him,2que no os apartéis con ligereza del buen sentir y no os dejéis perturbar, ni por espíritu, ni por palabra, ni por pretendida carta nuestra en el sentido de que el día del Señor ya llega. that you not be readily disturbed or terrified in your minds, by any spirit, or word, or epistle, supposedly sent from us, claiming that the day of the Lord is close by.3Nadie os engañe en manera alguna, porque primero debe venir la apostasía y hacerse manifiesto el hombre de iniquidad, el hijo de perdición; Let no one deceive you in any way. For this cannot be, unless the apostasy will have arrived first, and the man of sin will have been revealed, the son of perdition,4el adversario, el que se ensalza sobre todo lo que se llama Dios o sagrado, hasta sentarse el mismo en el templo de Dios, ostentándose como si fuera Dios. who is an adversary to, and who is lifted up above, all that is called God or that is worshipped, so much so that he sits in the temple of God, presenting himself as if he were God.5—¿No os acordáis que estando yo todavía con vosotros os decía estas cosas?— Do you not recall that, when I was still with you, I told you these things?6Y ahora ya sabéis qué es lo que (le) detiene para que su manifestación sea a su debido tiempo. And now you know what it is that holds him back, so that he may be revealed in his own time.7El misterio de la iniquidad ya está obrando ciertamente, solo (hay) el que ahora detiene hasta que aparezca de en medio. For the mystery of iniquity is already at work. And only one now holds back, and will continue to hold back, until he is taken from our midst.8Y entonces se hará manifiesto el inicuo, a quien el Señor Jesús matará con el aliento de su boca y destruirá con la manifestación de su Parusía; And then that iniquitous one shall be revealed, the one whom the Lord Jesus shall bring to ruin with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy at the brightness of his return:9(aquel inicuo) cuya aparición es obra de Satanás con todo poder y señales y prodigios de mentira, him whose advent is accompanied by the works of Satan, with every kind of power and signs and false miracles,10y con toda seducción de iniquidad para los que han de perderse en retribución de no haber aceptado para su salvación el amor de la verdad. and with every seduction of iniquity, toward those who are perishing because they have not accepted the love of truth, so that they may be saved. For this reason, God will send to them works of deception, so that they may believe in lies,11Y por esto Dios les envía poderes de engaño, a fin de que crean la mentira, in order that all those who have not believed in the truth, but who have consented to iniquity, may be judged.12para que sean juzgados todos aquellos incrédulos a la verdad, los cuales se complacen en la injusticia. Yet we must always give thanks to God for you, brothers, beloved of God, because God has chosen you as first-fruits for salvation, by the sanctification of the Spirit and by faith in the truth.13Mas nosotros hemos de dar en todo tiempo gracias a Dios por vosotros, hermanos, amados del Señor, por cuanto os ha escogido Dios como primicias para salvación, mediante santificación de espíritu y crédito a la verdad; He has also called you into truth through our Gospel, unto the acquisition of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.14a esta os llamó por medio de nuestro Evangelio, para alcanzar la gloria de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. And so, brothers, stand firm, and hold to the traditions that you have learned, whether by word or by our epistle.15Así pues, hermanos, estad firmes y guardad las enseñanzas que habéis recibido, ya de palabra, ya por carta nuestra. So may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who has loved us and who has given us an everlasting consolation and good hope in grace,16El mismo Señor nuestro Jesucristo, y Dios nuestro Padre, el cual nos ha amado, y nos ha otorgado por gracia consolación eterna y buena esperanza, exhort your hearts and confirm you in every good word and deed.17consuele vuestros corazones y los confirme en toda obra y palabra buena. —
