1De la misma manera entraron en Iconio en la sinagoga de los judíos y hablaron de tal modo que una gran multitud de judíos y griegos abrazó la fe. Now it happened in Iconium that they entered together into the synagogue of the Jews, and they spoke in such a way that a copious multitude of both Jews and Greeks believed.2Pero los incrédulos de entre los judíos excitaron y exacerbaron los ánimos de los gentiles contra los hermanos. Yet truly, the Jews who were unbelieving had incited and enflamed the souls of the Gentiles against the brothers.3Con todo moraron allí bastante tiempo, hablando con toda libertad sobre el Señor, el cual confirmaba la palabra de su gracia concediendo que, por las manos de ellos, se obrasen milagros y portentos. And so, they remained for a long time, acting faithfully in the Lord, offering testimony to the Word of his grace, providing signs and wonders done by their hands.4Y la gente de la ciudad se dividió: estaban unos con los judíos y otros con los apóstoles. Then the multitude of the city was divided. And certainly, some were with the Jews, yet truly others were with the Apostles.5Mas cuando se produjo un tumulto de los gentiles y también de los judíos, con sus jefes, Now when an assault had been planned by the Gentiles and the Jews with their leaders, so that they might treat them with contempt and stone them,6a fin de entregarlos y apedrearlos, ellos dándose cuenta, huyeron a Listra y Derbe, ciudades de Licaonia y su comarca, they, realizing this, fled together to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the entire surrounding region. And a certain man was sitting at Lystra, disabled in his feet, lame from his mother’s womb, who had never walked.8En Listra se hallaba sentado (en la calle) un hombre, incapaz de mover los pies, cojo desde el seno materno, y que nunca había andado. This man heard Paul speaking. And Paul, gazing at him intently, and perceiving that he had faith, so that he might be healed,9Este oyó hablar a Pablo, el cual, fijando en él los ojos y viendo que tenía fe para ser salvado, said with a loud voice, “Stand upright upon your feet!” And he leaped up and walked around.10dijo con poderosa voz: “Levántate derecho sobre tus pies”. But when the crowds had seen what Paul had done, they lifted up their voice in the Lycaonian language, saying, “The gods, having taken the likenesses of men, have descended to us!”11Cuando las gentes vieron lo que había hecho Pablo, alzaron la voz, diciendo en lengua licaónica: “Los dioses se han hecho semejantes a los hombres y han bajado a nosotros”. And they called Barnabas, ‘Jupiter,’ yet truly they called Paul, ‘Mercury,’ because he was the lead speaker.12A Bernabé le dieron el nombre de Júpiter y a Pablo el de Mercurio, por cuanto era él quien llevaba la palabra. Also, the priest of Jupiter, who was outside the city, in front of the gate, bringing in oxen and garlands, was willing to offer sacrifice with the people.13El sacerdote (del templo) de Júpiter, que se encontraba delante de la ciudad, traía toros y guirnaldas a las puertas, y junto con la multitud quería ofrecer un sacrificio. And as soon as the Apostles, Barnabas and Paul, had heard this, tearing their tunics, they leapt into the crowd, crying out14Al oír esto los apóstoles Bernabé y Pablo, rasgaron sus vestidos y se lanzaron sobre el gentío, clamando y diciendo: and saying: “Men, why would you do this? We also are mortals, men like yourselves, preaching to you to be converted, from these vain things, to the living God, who made heaven and earth and the sea and all that is in them.15“Hombres, ¿qué es lo que hacéis? También nosotros somos hombres, de la misma naturaleza que vosotros. Os predicamos para que dejando estas vanidades os convirtáis al Dios vivo, que ha creado el cielo, la tierra, el mar y todo cuanto en ellos se contiene, In previous generations, he permitted all nations to walk in their own ways.16el cual en las generaciones pasadas permitió que todas las naciones siguiesen sus propios caminos; But certainly, he did not leave himself without testimony, doing good from heaven, giving rains and fruitful seasons, filling their hearts with food and gladness.”17mas no dejó de dar testimonio de Sí mismo, haciendo beneficios, enviando lluvias desde el cielo y tiempos fructíferos y llenando vuestros corazones de alimento y alegría”. And by saying these things, they were barely able to restrain the crowds from immolating to them.18Diciendo estas cosas, a duras penas pudieron conseguir que el gentío no les ofreciese sacrificios. Now certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium arrived there. And having persuaded the crowd, they stoned Paul and dragged him outside of the city, thinking him to be dead.19Pero vinieron judíos de Antioquía e Iconio, los cuales persuadieron a las turbas y apedrearon a Pablo. Le arrastraron fuera de la ciudad, creyendo que estaba muerto. But as the disciples were standing around him, he got up and entered the city. And when they had evangelized that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch,21Después de predicar el Evangelio en aquella ciudad y habiendo ganado muchos discípulos, volvieron a Listra, Iconio y Antioquía, strengthening the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them that they should remain always in the faith, and that it is necessary for us to enter into the kingdom of God through many tribulations.22fortaleciendo los ánimos de los discípulos y exhortándolos a perseverar en la fe y cómo es menester que a través de muchas tribulaciones entremos en el reino de Dios. And when they had established priests for them in each church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, in whom they believed.23Y habiéndoles constituido presbíteros en cada una de las Iglesias, orando con ayunos los encomendaron al Señor en quien habían creído. And traveling by way of Pisidia, they arrived in Pamphylia.24Recorrida la Pisidia llegaron a Panfilia, And having spoken the word of the Lord in Perga, they went down into Attalia.25y después de predicar en Perge, bajaron a Atalia. And from there, they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work which they had now accomplished.26Desde allí navegaron a Antioquía; de donde habían sido encomendados a la gracia de Dios para la obra que acababan de cumplir. And when they had arrived and had gathered together the church, they related what great things God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.27Llegados reunieron la Iglesia y refirieron todas las cosas que Dios había hecho con ellos y cómo había abierto a los gentiles la puerta de la fe. Y detuviéronse con los discípulos no poco tiempo. And they remained for no small amount of time with the disciples.
