Hechos de los Apóstoles 15
1Habían bajado algunos de Judea que enseñaban a los hermanos: “Si no os circuncidáis según el rito de Moisés, no podéis salvaros”. And certain ones, descending from Judea, were teaching the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”2Pablo y Bernabé tuvieron con ellos no poca disensión y controversia. Por lo cual resolvieron que Pablo y Bernabé y algunos otros de entre ellos subieran a Jerusalén por causa de esta cuestión, a los apóstoles y presbíteros. Therefore, when Paul and Barnabas made no small uprising against them, they decided that Paul and Barnabas, and some from the opposing side, should go up to the Apostles and priests in Jerusalem concerning this question.3Ellos, pues, despedidos por la Iglesia, pasaron por Fenicia y Samaria, relatando la conversión de los gentiles y llenando de gran gozo a todos los hermanos. Therefore, being led by the church, they traveled through Phoenicia and Samaria, describing the conversion of the Gentiles. And they caused great joy among all the brothers.4Llegados a Jerusalén fueron acogidos por la Iglesia y los apóstoles y los presbíteros, y refirieron todas las cosas que Dios había hecho con ellos. And after a great contention had taken place, Peter rose up and said to them: “Noble brothers, you know that, in recent days, God has chosen from among us, by my mouth, Gentiles to hear the word of the Gospel and to believe.8Y Dios, que conoce los corazones, les dio testimonio dándoles el Espíritu Santo, del mismo modo que a nosotros, And God, who knows hearts, offered testimony, by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as to us.9y no ha hecho diferencia entre ellos y nosotros, puesto que ha purificado sus corazones por la fe. And he distinguished nothing between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.10Ahora, pues, ¿por qué tentáis a Dios poniendo sobre el cuello de los discípulos un yugo que ni nuestros padres ni nosotros hemos podido soportar? Now therefore, why do you tempt God to impose a yoke upon the necks of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear?11Lejos de eso, creemos ser salvados por la gracia del Señor Jesús, y así también ellos”. But by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, we believe in order to be saved, in the same manner also as them.”12Guardó entonces silencio toda la asamblea y escucharon a Bernabé y a Pablo, los que refirieron cuántos milagros y prodigios había hecho Dios entre los gentiles por medio de ellos. Then the entire multitude was silent. And they were listening to Barnabas and Paul, describing what great signs and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles through them.13Después que ellos callaron, tomó Santiago la palabra y dijo: “Varones, hermanos, escuchadme. And I will rebuild its ruins, and I will raise it up,17para que busque al Señor el resto de los hombres, y todas las naciones sobre las cuales ha sido invocado mi nombre, dice el Señor que hace estas cosas, so that the rest of men may seek the Lord, along with all the nations over whom my name has been invoked, says the Lord, who does these things.’18conocidas (por Él) desde la eternidad». For Moses, from ancient times, has had in each city those who preach him in the synagogues, where he is read on every Sabbath.”22Pareció entonces bien a los apóstoles y a los presbíteros, con toda la Iglesia, elegir algunos de entre ellos y enviarlos con Pablo y Bernabé a Antioquía: a Judas, llamado Barsabás, y a Silas, hombres destacados entre los hermanos; Then it pleased the Apostles and elders, with the whole Church, to choose men from among them, and to send to Antioch, with Paul and Barnabas, and Judas, who was surnamed Barsabbas, and Silas, preeminent men among the brothers,23y por conducto de ellos les escribieron: “Los apóstoles y los presbíteros hermanos, a los hermanos de la gentilidad, que están en Antioquía, Siria y Cilicia, salud. what was written by their own hands: “The Apostles and elders, brothers, to those who are at Antioch and Syria and Cilicia, brothers from the Gentiles, greetings.24Por cuanto hemos oído que algunos de los nuestros, sin que les hubiésemos dado mandato, fueron y os alarmaron con palabras, perturbando vuestras almas, Since we have heard that some, going out from among us, have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, to whom we gave no commandment,25hemos resuelto, de común acuerdo, escoger algunos, para enviarlos a vosotros juntamente con nuestros amados Bernabé y Pablo, it pleased us, being assembled as one, to choose men and to send them to you, with our most beloved Barnabas and Paul:26hombres (estos) que han expuesto sus vidas por el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. men who have handed over their lives on behalf of the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.27Hemos enviado, pues, a Judas y a Silas, los cuales también de palabra os anunciarán lo mismo. Therefore, we have sent Judas and Silas, who themselves also will, with the spoken word, reaffirm to you the same things.28Porque ha parecido bien al Espíritu Santo y a nosotros no imponeros otra carga fuera de estas necesarias: For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to impose no further burden upon you, other than these necessary things:29que os abstengáis de manjares ofrecidos a los ídolos, de la sangre, de lo ahogado y de la fornicación; guardándoos de lo cual os irá bien. Adiós”. that you abstain from things immolated to idols, and from blood, and from what has been suffocated, and from fornication. You will do well to keep yourselves from these things. Farewell.”30Así despachados descendieron a Antioquía, y convocando la asamblea entregaron la epístola; And so, having been dismissed, they went down to Antioch. And gathering the multitude together, they delivered the epistle.31y al leerla, hubo regocijo por el consuelo (que les llevaba). And when they had read it, they were gladdened by this consolation.32Judas y Silas, que eran también profetas, exhortaron a los hermanos con muchas palabras y los fortalecieron. But Judas and Silas, being also prophets themselves, consoled the brothers with many words, and they were strengthened.33Después de haberse detenido algún tiempo, fueron despedidos en paz por los hermanos y volvieron a los que los habían enviado. Then, after spending some more time there, they were dismissed with peace, by the brothers, to those who had sent them.34Pero Silas creyó deber quedarse; Judas solo partió para Jerusalén. But it seemed good to Silas to remain there. So Judas alone departed to Jerusalem.35Mas Pablo y Bernabé se quedaron en Antioquía, enseñando y predicando con otros muchos la palabra del Señor. And Paul and Barnabas remained at Antioch, with many others, teaching and evangelizing the Word of the Lord.36Pasados algunos días, dijo Pablo a Bernabé: “Volvamos y visitemos a los hermanos por todas las ciudades donde hemos predicado la palabra del Señor, (para ver) cómo se hallan”. Then, after some days, Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us return to visit the brothers throughout all the cities in which we have preached the Word of the Lord, to see how they are.”37Bernabé quería llevar también a Juan, llamado Marcos. And Barnabas wanted to take John, who was surnamed Mark, with them also.38Pablo, empero, opinaba no llevarle más, pues se había separado de ellos desde Panfilia y no los había seguido en el trabajo. But Paul was saying that he ought not to be received, since he withdrew from them at Pamphylia, and he had not gone with them in the work.39Originose, pues, una disensión tal, que se apartaron uno de otro, y Bernabé tomó consigo a Marcos y se embarcó para Chipre. And there occurred a dissension, to such an extent that they departed from one another. And Barnabas, indeed taking Mark, sailed to Cyprus.40Pablo, por su parte, eligió a Silas y emprendió viaje después de haber sido recomendados por los hermanos a la gracia del Señor; Yet truly, Paul, choosing Silas, set out, being delivered by the brothers to the grace of God.41y recorrió la Siria y la Cilicia confirmando las Iglesias. And he traveled through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the Churches, instructing them to keep the precepts of the Apostles and the elders.
