1Al cabo de cinco días, bajó el Sumo Sacerdote Ananías, con algunos ancianos, y un cierto Tértulo, orador, los cuales comparecieron ante el gobernador, como acusadores de Pablo. Then, after five days, the high priest Ananias came down with some of the elders and a certain Tertullus, a speaker. And they went to the governor against Paul.2Citado este, comenzó Tértulo la acusación, diciendo: “Que por medio de ti gozamos de una paz profunda, y que por tu providencia se han hecho reformas en bien de este pueblo, And having summoned Paul, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying: “Most excellent Felix, since we have much peace through you, and many things may be corrected by your providence,3lo reconocemos, oh excelentísimo Félix, con suma gratitud en todo tiempo y en todo lugar. we acknowledge this, always and everywhere, with acts of thanksgiving for everything.4Mas para no molestarte demasiado, ruégote que nos escuches brevemente según tu benignidad; But lest I speak at too great a length, I beg you, by your clemency, to listen to us briefly.5porque hemos hallado que este hombre es una peste y causa de tumultos para todos los judíos del orbe, y que es jefe de la secta de los nazarenos. We have found this man to be pestilent, to be inciting seditions among all the Jews in the entire world, and to be the author of the sedition of the sect of the Nazarenes.6Tentó también de profanar el Templo, mas nos apoderamos de él. Y quisimos juzgarle según nuestra ley, And he has even been attempting to violate the temple. And having apprehended him, we wanted him to be judged according to our law.7pero sobrevino el tribuno Lisias y con gran violencia le quitó de nuestras manos, But Lysias, the tribune, overwhelming us with great violence, snatched him away from our hands,8mandando a los acusadores que se dirigiesen a ti. Tú mismo, podrás interrogarle y cerciorarte sobre todas las cosas de que nosotros le acusamos”. ordering his accusers to come to you. And in this, I myself always strive to have a conscience that is lacking in any offense toward God and toward men.17Después de varios años vine a traer limosnas a mi nación y presentar ofrendas. Then, after many years, I went to my nation, bringing alms and offerings and vows,18En esta ocasión me hallaron purificado en el Templo, no con tropel de gente ni con bullicio, through which I obtained purification in the temple: neither with a crowd, nor with a commotion.19algunos judíos de Asia, los cuales deberían estar presentes delante de ti para acusar, si algo tuviesen contra mí. But certain Jews out of Asia are the ones who should have appeared before you to accuse me, if they have anything against me.20O digan estos aquí presentes qué delito hallaron cuando estaba yo ante el sinedrio, Or let these ones here say if they have found in me any iniquity, while standing before the council.21como no sea esta sola palabra que dije en alta voz, estando en medio de ellos: por la resurrección de los muertos soy juzgado hoy por vosotros”. For while standing among them, I spoke out solely about this one matter: about the resurrection of the dead. It is about this that I am being judged today by you.”22Mas Félix, que bien sabía lo que se refiere a esta doctrina, los aplazó diciendo: “Cuando descendiere el tribuno Lisias, fallaré vuestra causa”. Then Felix, after having ascertained much knowledge about this Way, kept them waiting, by saying, “When Lysias the tribune has arrived, I will give you a hearing.”23Ordenó al centurión que (Pablo) fuese guardado, que le tratase con indulgencia y que no impidiese a ninguno de los suyos asistirle. And he ordered a centurion to guard him, and to take rest, and not to prohibit any of his own from ministering to him.24Pasados algunos días, vino Félix con Drusila, su mujer, que era judía, llamó a Pablo y le escuchó acerca de la fe en Jesucristo. Then, after some days, Felix, arriving with his wife Drusilla who was a Jew, called for Paul and listened to him about the faith that is in Christ Jesus.25Pero cuando (Pablo) habló de la justicia, de la continencia y del juicio venidero, Félix, sobrecogido de temor, dijo: “Por ahora retírate; cuando tenga oportunidad, te llamaré”. And after he discoursed about justice and chastity, and about the future judgment, Felix was trembling, and he responded: “For now, go, but remain under guard. Then, at an opportune time, I will summon you.”26Esperaba también recibir dinero de Pablo, por lo cual lo llamaba más a menudo para conversar con él. He was also hoping that money might be given to him by Paul, and because of this, he frequently summoned him and spoke with him.27Cumplidos dos años, Félix tuvo por sucesor a Porcio Festo; y queriendo congraciarse con los judíos, Félix dejó a Pablo en prisión. Then, when two years had passed, Felix was succeeded by Portius Festus. And since Felix wanted to show particular favor to the Jews, he left Paul behind as a prisoner.
