Amós 6
1¡Ay de los que viven tranquilos m Sión y confiados en el monte de Samaria, los magnates del primero de los pueblos, a los cuales acude la casa de Israel! Woe to you who have been wealthy in Zion, and to you who have confidence in the mountain of Samaria: aristocrats, heads of the people, who advance with a retinue into the house of Israel.2Pasad a Calné, y ved; y de allí id adelante a Hamat la grande; y bajad a Gat de los filisteos. ¿Superan ellas acaso a estos reinos? ¿o es más espacioso su territorio que el vuestro? Cross over to Calneh and see, and go from there into Hamath the great, and descend into Gath of the Philistines, and to the best kingdoms of these, if their limits are wider than your limits.3Vosotros queréis alejar el día aciago, y aceleráis el imperio de la violencia. You have been set aside for the day of disaster, and you approach the throne of iniquity.4Duermen en divanes de marfil y se tienden sobre sus lechos; comen corderos del rebaño, y novillos sacados del establo. You sleep on beds of ivory, and you are lustful on your couches. You devour lambs from the flock and calves from the midst of the herd.5Cantan a gritos al son de la cítara, e inventan, como David, instrumentos músicos. You sing to the sound of stringed instruments; they consider themselves to have the musical abilities of David.6Beben vino en copones, y se ungen con el óleo más exquisito, sin compadecerse del quebranto de José. You drink wine in bowls, and you anoint with the best ointments; and they suffer nothing over the grief of Joseph.7Por eso irán ahora al cautiverio, los primeros de los deportados, y desaparecerá la batahola de los banqueteadores. Because of this, now they will depart at the head of those who go into captivity; and the faction of the lustful will be removed.8Yahvé, el Señor ha jurado por sí mismo —oráculo del Dios de los ejércitos—. “Aborrezco la gloria de Jacob, y detesto sus palacios; entregaré la ciudad y cuanto contiene.” The Lord God has sworn by his own soul, the Lord God of hosts says: I detest the arrogance of Jacob, and I hate his houses, and I will hand over the city with its inhabitants.9Si quedaren diez hombres en una casa, también ellos morirán. For if there were ten men remaining in one house, even they will die.10Llevará (al muerto) su tío, el cual ha de quemarlo; y sacando de la casa los huesos dirá al que está en el fondo de la casa: “¿Queda algún otro?” And his closest relative will steal him away and will burn him, so that he may carry the bones out of the house. And he will say to him that is in the inner most rooms of the house, “Now is there any left that still belongs to you?”11Y él responderá: “No hay más.” Y (el primero) replicará: “¡Cállate! porque no hay que mencionar el Nombre de Yahvé.” And he will answer, “It is finished.” And he will say to him, “Be silent and do not call to mind the name of the Lord.”12Pues he aquí que Yahvé da la orden, y herirá la casa grande con hendiduras, y la casa chica con quebraduras. For behold, the Lord has commanded, and he will strike the greater house with catastrophes, and the lesser house with divisions.13¿Corren acaso los caballos por las peñas? ¿O se puede arar (allí) con bueyes? Así vosotros trocáis en veneno el juicio, y el fruto de justicia en ajenjo; Can horses gallop across rocks, or is anyone able to plough with gazelles? For you have turned judgment into bitterness and the fruit of justice into wormwood.14os regocijáis en lo que es nada, diciendo: “¿No nos hemos hecho poderosos con nuestra propia fuerza?” You rejoice in emptiness. You say, “Have we not, by our own strength, taken horns for ourselves?”15“Mas he aquí que voy a suscitar contra vosotros, una nación, oh casa de Israel —oráculo de Yahvé, Dios de los ejércitos—, (un pueblo) que os oprimirá desde la entrada de Hamat hasta el torrente del Arabá. For behold, house of Israel, I will raise up a people over you, says the Lord God of hosts, and they will crush you from the entrance of Hamath all the way to the burning of the desert.
