1El rey Nabucodonosor hizo una estatua de oro de sesenta codos de alto y seis codos de ancho. La erigió en la llanura de Dura, en la provincia de Babilonia. King Nebuchadnezzar made a statue of gold, sixty cubits high and six cubits wide, and he set it up in the plain of Dura in the province of Babylon.2Y mandó el rey Nabucodonosor reunir a los sátrapas, los gobernadores, los generales, los altos magistrados, los tesoreros, los consejeros, los jueces y todos los intendentes de las provincias, para que asistiesen a la dedicación de la estatua levantada por el rey Nabucodonosor. Then king Nebuchadnezzar sent to gather together the governors, magistrates and judges, generals and sovereigns and commanders, and all the leaders of the regions, to come together for the dedication of the statue, which king Nebuchadnezzar had raised.3Se reunieron los sátrapas, los gobernadores, los generales, los altos magistrados, los tesoreros, los consejeros, los jueces y todos los intendentes de las provincias para asistir a la dedicación de la estatua levantada por el rey Nabucodonosor; y estaban en pie delante de la estatua que Nabucodonosor había erigido. Then the governors, magistrates and judges, generals and sovereigns and nobles, who were appointed to power, and all the leaders of the regions were brought together so as to convene for the dedication of the statue, which king Nebuchadnezzar had raised. And so they stood before the statue that king Nebuchadnezzar had set up.4Y gritaba un pregonero en voz alta: “A vosotros, oh pueblos, naciones y lenguas se os manda And a herald proclaimed loudly, “To you it is said, to you peoples, tribes, and languages,5que al tiempo que oyereis el sonido del cuerno, de la flauta, de la cítara, del sambuco, del salterio, de la gaita y de toda suerte de instrumentos músicos, os postréis para adorar la estatua de oro que ha levantado el rey Nabucodonosor. that in the hour when you will hear the sound of the trumpet and the pipe and the lute, the harp and the psaltery, and of the symphony and every kind of music, you must fall down and adore the gold statue, which king Nebuchadnezzar has set up.6Quien no se postrare ni (la) adorare, al instante será echado en un horno de fuego ardiente.” But if anyone will not bow down and adore, in the same hour he will be cast into a furnace of burning fire.”7Por lo cual, al momento de oír todos los pueblos el sonido del cuerno, de la flauta, de la cítara, del sambuco, del salterio, de la gaita y de toda suerte de instrumentos músicos, se postraron todos esos pueblos, naciones y lenguas, y adoraron la estatua de oro que el rey Nabucodonosor había alzado. After this, therefore, as soon as all the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the pipe and the lute, the harp and the psaltery, and of the symphony and every kind of music, all the peoples, tribes, and languages fell down and adored the gold statue, which king Nebuchadnezzar had set up.8En ese mismo tiempo vinieron algunos caldeos y acusaron a los judíos. And soon, about the same time, some influential Chaldeans came and accused the Jews,9Hablaron al rey Nabucodonosor y dijeron: “¡Vive para siempre, oh rey! and they said to king Nebuchadnezzar, “O king, live forever.10Tú, oh rey, has dado un decreto según el cual todo hombre que oiga el sonido del cuerno, de la flauta, de la cítara, del sambuco, del salterio, de la gaita y de toda suerte de instrumentos músicos, se postre y adore la estatua de oro; You, O king, have established a decree, so that every man who might hear the sound of the trumpet, the pipe and the lute, the harp and the psaltery, and of the symphony and every kind of music, will prostrate himself and adore the gold statue.11y que todo aquel que no se postrare para adorar, sea arrojado en un horno de fuego ardiente. But if any man will not fall down and adore, he would be cast into a furnace of burning fire.12Pues bien, hay algunos judíos, a quienes tú has puesto al frente de la provincia de Babilonia: Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, los cuales no te tienen respeto, oh rey; no sirven a tus dioses, ni adoran la estatua de oro por ti erigida.” Yet there are influential Jews, whom you have appointed over the works of the region of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These men, O king, have scorned your decree. They do not worship your gods, and they do not adore the gold statue which you have raised up.”13Entonces Nabucodonosor se llenó de rabia y furor, y mandó traer a Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, los cuales fueron conducidos a la presencia del rey. Then Nebuchadnezzar, in fury and in wrath, commanded that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego should be brought, and so, without delay, they were brought before the king.14Nabucodonosor tomó la palabra y les dijo: “¿Es de propósito, oh Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago que no servís a mis dioses, ni adoráis la estatua de oro que yo he alzado? And king Nebuchadnezzar addressed them and said, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you do not worship my gods, nor adore the gold statue, which I have set up?15Ahora, pues, estad dispuestos: Al momento que oigáis el sonido del cuerno, de la flauta, de la cítara, del sambuco, del salterio, de la gaita y de toda suerte de instrumentos músicos, prosternaos y adorad la estatua que yo he hecho. Si no la adoráis, al instante seréis arrojados en un horno de fuego ardiente; y ¿quién es el Dios que os librará de mi mano?” Therefore, if you are prepared now, whenever you hear the sound of the trumpet, pipe, lute, harp and psaltery, and of the symphony and every kind of music, prostrate yourselves and adore the statue which I have made. But if you will not adore, in the same hour you will be cast into the furnace of burning fire. And who is the God that will rescue you from my hand?”16Respondieron Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago y dijeron al rey Nabucodonosor: “No tenemos necesidad de responderte acerca de este asunto, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to king Nebuchadnezzar, “It is not right for us to obey you in this matter.17Si nuestro Dios, a quien servimos, quiere librarnos, nos librará del horno de fuego ardiente y de tu mano, oh rey. For behold our God, whom we worship, is able to rescue us from the oven of burning fire and to free us from your hands, O king.18Y si no, sabe, oh rey, que nosotros no serviremos a tus dioses, ni adoraremos la estatua de oro que ha sido por ti levantada.” But even if he will not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not worship your gods, nor adore the gold statue, which you have raised up.”19Entonces Nabucodonosor se enfureció, y el aspecto de su rostro se demudó contra Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago. Y tomando de nuevo la palabra, mandó encender el horno siete veces más fuerte de lo acostumbrado. Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with fury and the appearance of his face was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and he commanded that the furnace should be heated to seven times its usual fire.20Y dio orden a algunos de los más robustos de su ejército, de que ataran a Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, para arrojarlos en el horno de fuego ardiente. But the king’s order was so urgent that the furnace was heated excessively. As a result, those men who had cast in Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, were killed by the flame of the fire.23Así estos tres varones, Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, cayeron atados en medio del horno de fuego ardiente. But these three men, that is, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, having been bound, fell down in the middle of the oven of burning fire.24Pero ellos andaban por medio de las llamas loando a Dios y bendiciendo al Señor. And they were walking in the midst of the flame, praising God and blessing the Lord.25Entonces Azarías, poniéndose en pie, oró de esta manera, y abriendo su boca en medio del fuego, dijo: Then Azariah, while standing, prayed in this manner, and opening his mouth in the midst of the fire, he said:26“Bendito eres, Señor, Dios de nuestros padres; digno de alabanza es tu nombre y glorioso por los siglos. “Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of our fathers, and your name is praiseworthy and glorious for all ages.27Porque Tú eres justo en todo lo que hiciste con nosotros; y verdaderas son todas las obras tuyas, rectos tus caminos, y justos todos tus juicios. For you are just in all the things that you have accomplished for us, and all your works are true, and your ways are right, and all your judgments are true.28Pues justos fueron tus juicios en todo lo que trajiste sobre nosotros y sobre la santa ciudad de nuestros padres, Jerusalén; porque en verdad y en justicia enviaste todas estas cosas por causa de nuestros pecados. For you have made equally true judgments in all the things that you have brought upon us and upon Jerusalem, the holy city of our fathers. For in truth and in judgment, you have brought down all these things because of our sins.29Puesto que hemos pecado y obrado inicuamente, apostatando de Ti y en todo hemos faltado; For we have sinned, and we have committed iniquity in withdrawing from you, and we have offended in all things.30no hemos obedecido tus preceptos ni los hemos observado; no hemos obrado según habías dispuesto para que fuésemos felices. And we have not listened to your precepts, nor have we observed or done as you have ordered us, so that it might go well with us.31Todo cuanto has enviado sobre nosotros, y todo lo que nos has hecho, justísimamente lo has hecho. Therefore, everything that you have brought upon us, and all that you have done for us, you have done in true judgment.32Nos entregaste en manos de nuestros enemigos malvados, perversos y prevaricadores, y en poder de un rey injusto, el peor de toda la tierra. And you have delivered us into the hands of our enemies: traitors, unjust and most wicked, and to a king, unjust and most wicked, even more so than all others on earth.33Y ahora no podemos abrir la boca, siendo como somos objeto de confusión y de oprobio para tus siervos y para quienes te adoran. And now we are not able to open our mouths. We have become a shame and a disgrace to your servants and to those who worship you.34Te rogamos que por amor de tu nombre no nos abandones para siempre, ni destruyas tu alianza. Do not hand us over forever, we ask you, because of your name, and do not abolish your covenant.35ni apartes de nosotros tu misericordia, por amor de Abrahán, tu amado, y de Isaac siervo tuyo, y de Israel tu santo, And do not withdraw your mercy from us, because of Abraham, your beloved, and Isaac, your servant, and Israel, your holy one.36a los cuales hablaste, prometiendo que multiplicarías su linaje como las estrellas del cielo, y como la arena en la playa del mar. You have spoken with them, promising that you would multiply their offspring like the stars of heaven and like the sand on the seashore.37Porque nosotros, oh Señor, hemos sido empequeñecidos más que todas las naciones, y estamos hoy día abatidos en todo el mundo por causa de nuestros pecados. For we, O Lord, are diminished more than all other peoples, and we are brought low throughout all the earth, this day, because of our sins.38Y no tenemos en este tiempo príncipe ni caudillo, ni profeta, ni holocausto, ni sacrificio, ni ofrenda, ni incienso, ni lugar (donde presentarte) las primicias, a fin de poder alcanzar tu misericordia. Neither is there, at this time, a leader, or a ruler, or a prophet, nor any holocaust, or sacrifice, or oblation, or incense, or place of first fruits, in your eyes,39Pero recíbenos Tú, contritos de corazón, y con espíritu humillado. so that we may be able to find your mercy. Nevertheless, with a contrite soul and humble spirit, let us be accepted.40Como el holocausto de los carneros y toros, y los millares de gordos corderos, así sea hoy nuestro sacrificio delante de Ti, para que te sea acepto; pues jamás quedan confundidos los que en Ti confían. Just as in the holocausts of rams and bullocks, and as in thousands of fat lambs, so let our sacrifice be in your sight this day, in order to please you. For there is no shame for those who trust in you.41Te seguimos ahora de todo corazón, y te tememos, y buscamos tu rostro. And now we follow you wholeheartedly, and we fear you, and we seek your face.42No quieras confundirnos; haz con nosotros según la mansedumbre tuya, y según tu grandísima misericordia. Do not put us to shame, but deal with us in agreement with your clemency and according to the multitude of your mercies.43Líbranos con tus prodigios, y glorifica, oh Señor, tu Nombre. And rescue us by your wonders and give glory to your name, O Lord.44Avergonzados queden todos cuantos hacen sufrir tribulaciones a tus siervos; queden confundidos por medio de todo tu poder y sea aniquilada su fuerza; And let all those be confounded who lead your servants towards evil. May they be confounded by all your power and may their strength be crushed.45y sepan que Tú eres el Señor, Dios único y glorioso en la redondez de la tierra.” And may they know that you are the Lord, the only God, and glorious above the world.”46Entretanto, los siervos del rey que los habían arrojado, no cesaban de cebar el fuego con betún, estopa, pez y sarmientos. And they did not cease, those attendants of the king who had cast them in, to heat the furnace with oil, and flax, and pitch, and brush.47Y se extendía la llama sobre el horno hasta la (altura de) cuarenta y nueve codos; And the flame streamed forth above the furnace for forty-nine cubits.48y saltando fuera abrasó a los caldeos que halló cerca del horno. And the fire erupted and burnt those of the Chaldeans within its reach near the furnace.49Mas el Ángel del Señor descendió al horno, y estaba con Azarías y con sus compañeros, sacudiendo del horno la llama del fuego. But the angel of the Lord descended with Azariah and his companions into the furnace; and he cast the flame of the fire out of the furnace.50E hizo que en medio del horno soplase como un viento de rocío; y el fuego no los tocó en parte alguna, ni los afligió, ni les causó la menor molestia. And he made the middle of the furnace like the blowing of a damp wind, and the fire did not touch them, nor afflict them, nor bother them at all.51Entonces aquellos tres, como si no tuviesen sino una sola boca, alabaron, y glorificaron, y bendijeron a Dios en medio del horno, diciendo: Then these three, as if with one voice, praised and glorified and blessed God, in the furnace, saying:52Bendito eres Tú, Señor, Dios de nuestros padres, digno de ser alabado y glorificado y ensalzado por todos los siglos. Bendito sea tu santo y glorioso Nombre, digno de ser alabado y ensalzado por todos los siglos. “Blessed are you, Lord, God of our fathers: praiseworthy, and glorious, and exalted above all forever. And blessed is the holy name of your glory: praiseworthy, and exalted above all, for all ages.53Bendito eres Tú en el Templo santo de tu gloria, y sobre todo loor, y sobre toda gloria por los siglos. Blessed are you in the holy temple of your glory: praiseworthy above all and exalted above all forever.54Bendito eres Tú en el trono de tu reino, y sobre todo loor y sobre toda gloria por los siglos. Blessed are you on the throne of your kingdom: praiseworthy above all and exalted above all forever.55Bendito eres Tú que penetras los abismos y te sientas sobre querubines, y eres digno de loor y de ser ensalzado por los siglos. For he has delivered us from the underworld, and saved us from the hand of death, and freed us from the midst of the burning flame, and rescued us from the midst of the fire.89Tributad gloria al Señor, porque es bueno, porque es eterna su misericordia. Give thanks to the Lord because he is good: because his mercy is forever.90Todos los que dais culto a Dios, bendecid al Señor, al Dios de los dioses; loadle y celebradle, porque su misericordia permanece por todos los siglos. All those who are pious, bless the Lord, the God of gods: praise him and acknowledge him because his mercy is for all generations.”91Entonces el rey Nabucodonosor se asombró y levantándose apresuradamente, se dirigió a sus consejeros y dijo: “¿No fueron tres los hombres que echamos atados en medio del fuego?” Respondieron ellos y dijeron al rey: “Así es, oh rey.” Then king Nebuchadnezzar was astonished, and he quickly got up and said to his nobles: “Did we not cast three men shackled into the midst of the fire?” Answering the king, they said, “True, O king.”92Y él repuso, diciendo: “He aquí, que yo veo cuatro hombres sueltos, que se pasean en medio del fuego, sin que hayan padecido daño alguno, y el aspecto del cuarto es semejante a un hijo de Dios.” He answered and said, “Behold, I see four men unbound and walking in the midst of the fire, and no harm is in them, and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of God.”93Entonces Nabucodonosor, acercándose a la boca del horno de fuego ardiente, tomó la palabra y dijo: “¡Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, siervos del Dios Altísimo, salid y venid!” Salieron, pues, Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago de en medio del fuego. Then Nebuchadnezzar approached the entrance of the furnace of burning fire, and he said, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the supreme God, come out and approach.” And immediately Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego went out from the midst of the fire.94Y habiéndose reunido los sátrapas, los gobernadores, los altos jefes y los consejeros del rey, vieron a esos varones sobre cuyos cuerpos el fuego no había tenido ningún poder. Ni un cabello de su cabeza se había chamuscado, sus ropas estaban intactas, ni siquiera el olor del fuego los había alcanzado. And when the governors, and the magistrates, and the judges, and the powerful of the king had gathered together, they considered these men because the fire had no power against their bodies, and not a hair of their head had been scorched, and their pants had not been affected, and the smell of the fire had not passed onto them.95Entonces Nabucodonosor tomó la palabra y dijo: “Bendito sea el Dios de Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, que ha enviado su ángel y ha salvado a sus siervos que han confiado en Él, traspasaron la orden del rey y entregaron sus cuerpos para no servir ni adorar a dios alguno fuera del Dios suyo. Then Nebuchadnezzar, bursting out, said, “Blessed is their God, the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who sent his angel and rescued his servants who believed in him. And they altered the verdict of the king, and they delivered up their bodies, so that they would not serve or adore any god except their God.96Publico por mi parte este decreto: Cualquier pueblo, nación o lengua que hable mal del Dios de Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, será hecho pedazos, y sus casas serán convertidas en cloacas; por cuanto no hay ningún otro dios que pueda salvar de tal manera.” Therefore, this decree is established by me: that every people, tribe, and language, whenever they have spoken blasphemy against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, will perish and their homes will be destroyed. For there is no other God who is able to save in this way.”97Y el rey ensalzó a Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago en la provincia de Babilonia. Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province of Babylon.98“El rey Nabucodonosor a todos los pueblos, naciones y lenguas que habitan en toda la tierra: La paz os sea dada en abundancia. Nebuchadnezzar, the king, to all peoples, nations, and languages, who dwell in the whole world, may peace be increased with you.99Me parece conveniente publicar las señales y las maravillas que el Dios Altísimo ha hecho conmigo. The supreme God has accomplished signs and wonders with me. Therefore, it has pleased me to proclaim100¡Cuán grandes son sus señales y cuan estupendas sus maravillas! Su reino es reino eterno y su poderío subsiste de generación en generación.” his signs, which are great, and his wonders, which are mighty. For his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his power continues from generation to generation.
