Daniel 7
1El año primero de Baltasar, rey de Babilonia, vio Daniel un sueño y visiones que (pasaban) por su cabeza mientras estaba en su cama. En seguida escribió el sueño en forma de un resumen. In the first year of Belshazzar, king of Babylon, Daniel saw a dream and a vision in his head on his bed. And, writing down the dream, he understood it in a concise manner, and so, summarizing it tersely, he said:2“Yo estaba mirando durante mi visión nocturna, dice Daniel tomando la palabra, y vi cómo los cuatro vientos del cielo revolvían el Mar Grande. I saw in my vision at night, and behold, the four winds of the heavens fought upon the great sea.3Y subieron del mar cuatro grandes bestias, diferentes una de otra. And four great beasts, different from one another, ascended from the sea.4La primera era como león, y tenía alas de águila. Mientras estaba todavía mirando, le fueron arrancadas las alas, y fue levantada de la tierra y puesta sobre sus pies como un hombre; y se le dio un corazón de hombre. The first was like a lioness and had the wings of an eagle. I watched as its wings were plucked off, and it was raised from the earth and stood on its feet like a man, and the heart of a man was given to it.5Y vi otra bestia, la segunda, semejante a un oso; que se alzaba a un lado; (tenía) tres costillas en su boca, entre sus dientes, y le dijeron así: «¡Levántate y come carne en abundancia!». And behold, another beast, like a bear, stood to one side, and there were three rows in its mouth and in its teeth, and they spoke to it in this way: “Arise, devour much flesh.”6Después de esto seguí mirando, y vi otra, semejante a un leopardo, con cuatro alas de ave en sus espaldas. Tenía esta bestia cuatro cabezas; y le fue dado el dominio. After this, I watched, and behold, another like a leopard, and it had wings like a bird, four upon it, and four heads were on the beast, and power was given to it.7Después de esto continué mirando la visión nocturna y vi una cuarta bestia, espantosa y terrible y extraordinariamente fuerte, que tenía grandes dientes de hierro. Devoraba y desmenuzaba, y lo que sobraba lo hollaba con los pies. Era diferente de todas las bestias anteriores y tenía diez cuernos. After this, I watched in the vision of the night, and behold, a fourth beast, terrible yet wondrous, and exceedingly strong; it had great iron teeth, eating yet crushing, and trampling down the remainder with his feet, but it was unlike the other beasts, which I had seen before it, and it had ten horns.8Estaba yo contemplando los cuernos, cuando divisé otro cuerno pequeño, que despuntaba entre ellos; y le fueron arrancados tres de los primeros cuernos. Y he aquí que había en este cuerno ojos como ojos de hombre y una boca que profería cosas horribles. I considered the horns, and behold, another little horn rose out of the midst of them. And three of the first horns were rooted out by its presence. And behold, eyes like the eyes of a man were in this horn, and a mouth speaking unnatural things.9Estuve mirando hasta que fueron puestos tronos; y se sentó el Anciano de días cuyo vestido era blanco como la nieve, y el cabello de su cabeza como lana blanca. Su trono era de llamas de fuego, y las ruedas del mismo, fuego ardiente. I watched until thrones were set up, and the Ancient of days sat down. His garment was radiant like snow, and the hair of his head like clean wool; his throne was flames of fire, its wheels had been set on fire.10Un río de fuego corría saliendo de delante de él; millares de millares le servían, y miríadas de miríadas se levantaban ante su presencia. Se sentó el tribunal y fueron abiertos los libros. A river of fire rushed forth from his presence. Thousands upon thousands ministered to him, and ten thousand times hundreds of thousands attended before him. The trial began, and the books were opened.11Miraba yo entonces a causa del ruido de las grandes palabras que hablaba el cuerno; y mientras estaba mirando fue muerta la bestia y su cuerpo destruido y entregado a las llamas del fuego, I watched because of the voice of the great words which that horn was speaking, and I saw that the beast had been destroyed, and its body was ruined and had been handed over to be burnt with fire.12A las otras bestias también les fue quitado su dominio, pero les fue prolongada la vida hasta un tiempo y un momento. Likewise, the power of the other beasts was taken away, and a limited time of life was appointed to them, until one time and another.13Seguía yo mirando en la visión nocturna, y he aquí que vino sobre las nubes del cielo Uno parecido a un hijo de hombre, el cual llegó al Anciano de días, y le presentaron delante de Él. I watched, therefore, in the vision of the night, and behold, with the clouds of heaven, one like a son of man arrived, and he approached all the way to the Ancient of days, and they presented him before him.14Y le fue dado el señorío, la gloria y el reino, y todos los pueblos y naciones y lenguas le sirvieron. Su señorío es un señorío eterno que jamás acabará, y su reino nunca será destruido. And he gave him power, and honor, and the kingdom, and all peoples, tribes, and languages will serve him. His power is an eternal power, which will not be taken away, and his kingdom, one which will not be corrupted.15Entonces yo, Daniel, me turbé en espíritu interiormente, y las visiones de mi cabeza me llenaron de espanto. My spirit was terrified. I, Daniel, was fearful at these things, and the visions of my head disturbed me.16Me acerqué a uno de los asistentes y le pedí el verdadero sentido de todo esto. Él me habló y me explicó el significado de aquellas cosas (diciendo): I approached one of the attendants and asked the truth from him about all these things. He told me the interpretation of the words, and he instructed me:17«Estas grandes bestias, que son cuatro, son cuatro reyes que se levantarán en la tierra. “These four great beasts are four kingdoms, which will rise from the earth.18Mas los santos del Altísimo recibirán el reino, y poseerán el reino hasta la eternidad y por los siglos de los siglos.» Yet it is the saints of the Most High God who will receive the kingdom, and they will hold the kingdom from this generation, and forever and ever.”19Quise entonces saber la verdad acerca de la cuarta bestia, que era tan diferente de todas las (demás) y extraordinariamente terrible, que tenía dientes de hierro y uñas de bronce, que devoraba y desmenuzaba y hollaba con sus pies lo que sobraba; After this, I wanted to learn diligently about the fourth beast, which was very different from all, and exceedingly terrible; his teeth and claws were of iron; he devoured and crushed, and the remainder he trampled with his feet;20y acerca de los diez cuernos que estaban en su cabeza, y también acerca de aquel otro que le había salido y delante del cual habían caído los tres; ese cuerno que tenía ojos, y una boca que profería cosas espantosas, y parecía más grande que los otros. and about the ten horns, which he had on his head, and about the other, which had sprung up, before which three horns fell, and about that horn which had eyes and a mouth speaking great things, and which was more powerful than the rest.21Pues estaba yo viendo cómo este cuerno hacía guerra contra los santos, y prevalecía sobre ellos, I watched, and behold, that horn made war against the holy ones and prevailed over them,22hasta que vino el Anciano de días y el juicio fue dado a los santos del Altísimo y llegó el tiempo en que los santos tomaron posesión del reino. until the Ancient of days came and gave judgment to the holy ones of the Supreme One, and the time arrived, and the holy ones obtained the kingdom.23Y dijo aquel así: «La cuarta bestia es un cuarto reino que habrá en la tierra. Este será diferente de todos los reinos, devorará toda la tierra, la hollará, y la desmenuzará. And thus he said, “The fourth beast will be the fourth kingdom on earth, which will be greater than all the kingdoms, and will devour the whole earth, and will trample and crush it.24Los diez cuernos (significan que) de este reino surgirán diez reyes; y tras ellos se levantará otro que será diferente de los anteriores, y derribará a tres reyes. Moreover, the ten horns of the same kingdom will be ten kings, and another will rise up after them, and he will be mightier than the ones before him, and he will bring down three kings.25Proferirá palabras contra el Altísimo, oprimirá a los santos del Altísimo y pretenderá mudar los tiempos y la Ley; y ellos serán entregados en su mano hasta un tiempo, (dos) tiempos y la mitad de un tiempo. And he will speak words against the Supreme One, and will exhaust the holy ones of the Most High, and he will think about what it would take to change the times and the laws, and they will be given into his hand until a time, and times, and half a time.26Pero se sentará el tribunal, y entonces se le quitará su dominio, a fin de destruirlo y aniquilarlo para siempre. And a trial will begin, so that his power may be taken away, and be crushed, and be undone all the way to the end.27Y el reino y el imperio y la magnificencia de los reinos que hay debajo de todo el cielo, será dado al pueblo de los santos del Altísimo; su reino será un reino eterno; y todas las potestades le servirán y le obedecerán».” Yet the kingdom, and the power, and the greatness of that kingdom, which is under all of heaven, shall be given to the people of the holy ones of the Most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all kings will serve and obey him.”28Aquí terminaron sus palabras. Yo, Daniel, quedé muy conturbado por mis pensamientos y mudé de color; pero guardé estas cosas en mi corazón. And here is the end of the message. I, Daniel, was greatly disturbed by my thoughts, and my mood was changed in me, but I preserved the message in my heart.
