Deuteronomio 26
1Cuando hubieres entrado en el país que Yahvé, tu Dios, te va a dar en herencia, y cuando después de tomarlo en posesión habitares en él, “And when you will have entered into the land which the Lord your God will give to you to possess, and when you will have obtained it and are living within it:2tomarás de las primicias de todos los frutos de la tierra que cosechares en el país que Yahvé, tu Dios, te dé, y las pondrás en un canasto, e irás al lugar que Yahvé, tu Dios, haya elegido para morada de su nombre. you shall take the first of all your crops, and place them in a basket, and you shall travel to the place which the Lord your God will choose, so that his name may be invoked there.3Allí te presentaras al sacerdote que fuere por entonces, y le dirás: ‘Yo confieso hoy a Yahvé, tu Dios, que he entrado en el país que Yahvé juró a nuestros padres que nos daría.’ And you shall approach the priest who will be in those days, and you shall say to him: ‘I profess this day, before the Lord your God, that I have entered into the land about which he swore to our fathers that he would give it to us.’4El sacerdote recibirá el canasto de tu mano y lo pondrá delante del altar de Yahvé, tu Dios. And the priest, taking up the basket from your hand, shall place it before the altar of the Lord your God.5Entonces tomarás la palabra y dirás en presencia de Yahvé, tu Dios: ‘Un arameo errante fue mi padre, el cual con muy poca gente bajó a Egipto y vivió allí como extranjero, y allí vino a ser un pueblo grande, fuerte y numeroso. And you shall say, in the sight of the Lord your God: ‘The Syrian pursued my father, who descended into Egypt, and he sojourned there in a very small number, and he increased into a great and strong nation and into an innumerable multitude.6Pero los egipcios nos maltrataron y nos oprimieron, imponiéndonos dura servidumbre. And the Egyptians afflicted us, and they persecuted us, imposing upon us the most grievous burdens.7Y clamamos a Yahvé, el Dios de nuestros padres, y Yahvé oyó nuestra voz, y miró nuestra miseria, nuestro trabajo y nuestra opresión; And we cried out to the Lord, the God of our fathers. He heard us, and he looked with favor upon our humiliation, and hardship, and distress.8y nos sacó Yahvé de Egipto con mano poderosa y con brazo extendido, en medio de terrores estupendos, con señales y prodigios, And he led us away from Egypt, with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, with a mighty terror, with signs and wonders.9y nos trajo a este lugar, entregándonos esta tierra, tierra que mana leche y miel. And he led us into this place, and he delivered to us the land flowing with milk and honey.10Ahora, pues, he aquí que ofrezco las primicias de los frutos de la tierra que Tú, Yahvé, me has dado.’ Y las pondrás delante de Yahvé, tu Dios, y te prosternarás ante Yahvé, tu Dios; And because of this, I now offer the first fruits of the land which the Lord has given to me.’ And you shall leave them in the sight of the Lord your God, and you shall adore the Lord your God.11y te regocijarás por todo el bien que Yahvé, tu Dios, te ha dado a ti y a tu casa, así tú como el levita y el extranjero que moran en medio de ti. And you shall feast on all the good things which the Lord your God will give to you and to your house: you, and the Levite, and the new arrival who is with you.12Cuando hubieres acabado de separar el diezmo de todos tus frutos en el año tercero, el año del diezmo, lo darás al levita, al extranjero, al huérfano y a la viuda, para que coman dentro de tus puertas y se sacien; When you will have completed the tithing of all your crops, in the third year of tithes, you shall give it to the Levite, and to the new arrival, and to the orphan, and to the widow, so that they may eat within your gates and be satisfied.13y dirás delante de Yahvé, tu Dios: ‘He sacado de mi casa las cosas consagradas (a Dios), y las he dado al levita, al extranjero, al huérfano y a la viuda, conforme a todo lo que me has mandado; no he traspasado en nada tus mandamientos ni los he olvidado. And you shall say, in the sight of the Lord your God: ‘I have taken what was sanctified from my house, and I have given it to the Levite, and to the new arrival, and to the orphan and the widow, just as you have commanded me. I have not transgressed your commandments, nor have I forgotten your precepts.14No he comido de ellas cuando estaba de luto, no he sacado nada de ellas en estado de impureza ni dado para un muerto. He obedecido la voz de Yahvé, mi Dios; he hecho conforme a cuanto me has mandado. I have not eaten from these things in my grief, nor have I separated them due to any kind of uncleanness, nor have I expended any of these things in funerals. I have obeyed the voice of the Lord my God, and I have done all things just as you have instructed me.15Mira desde tu santa morada, desde el cielo, y bendice a Israel, tu pueblo, y a la tierra que nos has dado, como juraste a nuestros padres, tierra que mana leche y miel.’ Look with favor from your sanctuary and from your lofty habitation amid the heavens, and bless your people Israel and the land which you have given to us, just as you swore to our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.’16Hoy Yahvé, tu Dios, te manda que cumplas estas leyes y preceptos; los observarás y los pondrás en práctica con todo tu corazón y con todo tu alma. Today the Lord your God has instructed you to carry out these commandments and judgments, and to keep and fulfill them, with all your heart and with all your soul.17Hoy has hecho declarar a Yahvé que Él será tu Dios y que tú tienes que andar en sus caminos, guardar sus leyes, sus mandamientos y sus preceptos, y escuchar su voz. Today, you have chosen the Lord to be your God, so that you may walk in his ways, and keep his ceremonies and commandments and judgments, and obey his command.18Hoy Yahvé te ha hecho confesar que tú eres un pueblo particular suyo, como te lo ha prometido, y que has de guardar todos sus mandamientos; Today, the Lord has chosen you, so that you may be his particular people, just as he has spoken to you, and so that you may keep all his precepts,19y Él te elevará a gloria, honor y esplendor, sobre todos los pueblos que ha hecho, y serás un pueblo santo para Yahvé, tu Dios, como Él ha dicho.” and so that he may cause you to be more exalted than all the nations which he has created, for the sake of his own praise and name and glory, in order that you may be a holy people for the Lord your God, just as he has spoken.”
