Deuteronomio 27

¹Moisés con los ancianos de Israel, dio esta orden al pueblo: “Guardad todo el mandamiento que hoy os prescribo. Then Moses and the elders of Israel instructed the people, saying: “Keep each commandment that I instruct to you this day.²Cuando hayas pasado el Jordán para entrar en el país que Yahvé, tu Dios, te va a dar, levantarás unas grandes piedras que revocarás con cal, And when you have crossed over the Jordan, into the land which the Lord your God will give to you, you shall erect immense stones, and you shall coat them with plaster,³y escribirás sobre ellas todas las palabras de esta ley, pasado que hayas (el Jordán) para entrar en la tierra que Yahvé, tu Dios, te dará, tierra que mana leche y miel, como Yahvé, el Dios de tus padres, te lo tiene prometido. so that you may be able to write upon them all the words of this law, when you have crossed the Jordan so as to enter into the land which the Lord your God will give to you, a land flowing with milk and honey, just as he swore to your fathers.⁴Cuando, pues, hayas pasado el Jordán levantaréis estas piedras, como os mando hoy, en el monte Ebal, y las revocaréis con cal. Therefore, when you have crossed over the Jordan, erect the stones, just as I instruct you to do this day, on Mount Ebal. And you shall coat them with plaster,⁵Erigirás allí un altar a Yahvé, tu Dios, un altar de piedras, a las que no haya tocado instrumento de hierro. and you shall build, in that place, an altar to the Lord your God out of stones which have not been touched by iron,⁶De piedras toscas harás ese altar para Yahvé, tu Dios, y ofrecerás en él holocaustos a Yahvé, tu Dios. out of stones which have not been hewn or polished. And you shall offer holocausts on it to the Lord your God.⁷Ofrecerás sacrificios pacíficos; y comerás allí y te regocijarás en presencia de Yahvé, Dios tuyo. And you shall immolate peace victims. And you shall eat and feast in that place, in the sight of the Lord your God.⁸Escribirás sobre las piedras todas las palabras de esta ley en forma bien clara.” And you shall write upon the stones all the words of this law, plainly and clearly.”⁹Entonces Moisés, con los sacerdotes levitas, habló a todo Israel, diciendo: “Guarda silencio y escucha, oh Israel. Hoy has sido constituido pueblo de Yahvé, Dios tuyo. And Moses and the priests of Levitical stock said to all of Israel: “Attend and listen, O Israel! Today you have become the people of the Lord your God.¹⁰Escucha, pues, la voz de Yahvé, tu Dios, y cumple sus mandamientos y sus leyes que hoy te prescribo.” You shall listen to his voice, and you shall do the commandments and justices, which I am entrusting to you.”¹¹En aquel día, Moisés mandó al pueblo, diciendo: And Moses instructed the people in that day, saying:¹²“Pasado que hayáis el Jordán, se pondrán sobre el monte Garizim, para bendecir al pueblo estas (tribus): Simeón, Leví, Judá, Isacar, José y Benjamín. “These shall stand upon Mount Gerizim, as a blessing to the people, when you will have crossed the Jordan: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin.¹³Y para maldecir se pondrán sobre el monte Ebal las siguientes (tribus): Rubén, Gad, Aser, Zabulón, Dan y Neftalí. And in the opposite region, there shall stand upon Mount Ebal, as a curse: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.¹⁴Entonces los levitas tomarán la palabra, y en voz alta dirán a todos los hombres de Israel: And the Levites shall pronounce and declare to all the men of Israel, with an exalted voice:¹⁵‘¡Maldito el hombre que hace estatua o imagen de fundición, abominación a Yahvé, obra de artífice, y la pone en lugar oculto!’ Y responderá todo el pueblo y dirá: ‘¡Amén!’ Cursed be the man who makes a graven or molten idol, an abomination to the Lord, a work of the hands of its maker, and who puts it in a secret place. And all the people shall respond by saying: Amen.¹⁶‘¡Maldito el que desprecia a su padre y a su madre!’ Y todo el pueblo dirá: ‘¡Amén!’ Cursed be he who does not honor his father and mother. And all the people shall say: Amen.¹⁷‘¡Maldito el que remueve los lindes de su prójimo!’ Y todo el pueblo dirá: ‘¡Amén!’ Cursed be he who removes his neighbor’s landmarks. And all the people shall say: Amen.¹⁸‘¡Maldito el que hace errar al ciego en el camino!’ Y todo el pueblo dirá: ‘¡Amén!’ Cursed be he who causes the blind to go astray on a journey. And all the people shall say: Amen.¹⁹‘¡Maldito el que tuerce el derecho del extranjero, del huérfano y de la viuda!’ Y todo el pueblo dirá: ‘¡Amén!’ Cursed be he who subverts the judgment of the new arrival, the orphan, or the widow. And all the people shall say: Amen.²⁰‘¡Maldito el que se acuesta con la mujer de su padre, porque ha levantado la cubierta del lecho de su padre!’ Y todo el pueblo dirá: ‘¡Amén!’ Cursed be he who lies with his father’s wife, and so exposes the covering of his bed. And all the people shall say: Amen.²¹‘¡Maldito el que peca con una bestia cualquiera!’ Y todo el pueblo dirá: ‘¡Amén!’ Cursed be he who lies with any beast. And all the people shall say: Amen.²²‘¡Maldito el que se acueste con su hermana, hija de su padre o hija de su madre!’ Y todo el pueblo dirá ‘¡Amén!’ Cursed be he who lies with his sister, the daughter of his father, or of his mother. And all the people shall say: Amen.²³‘¡Maldito el que se acuesta con su suegra!’ Y todo el pueblo dirá ‘¡Amén!’ Cursed be he who lies with his mother-in-law. And all the people shall say: Amen.²⁴‘¡Maldito el que ocultamente mata a su prójimo!’ Y todo el pueblo dirá ‘¡Amén!’ Cursed be he who secretly strikes down his neighbor. And all the people shall say: Amen.²⁵‘¡Maldito aquel que acepta soborno para matar un inocente!’ Y todo el pueblo dirá: ‘¡Amén!’ Cursed be he who accepts gifts in order to strike down the life of innocent blood. And all the people shall say: Amen.²⁶‘¡Maldito el que no persevera en las palabras de esta Ley para ponerlas en práctica!’ Y todo el pueblo dirá: ‘¡Amén!’ Cursed be he who does not remain in the words of this law, and does not carry them out in deed. And all the people shall say: Amen.”
