1Estas son las palabras de la alianza que Yahvé mandó a Moisés ratificar con los hijos de Israel en el país de Moab, además de la alianza que hizo con ellos en el Horeb. These are the words of the covenant which the Lord instructed Moses to form with the sons of Israel in the land of Moab, beside that covenant which he struck with them at Horeb.2Y convocó Moisés a todo Israel, y les dijo: “Habéis visto todo lo que hizo Yahvé ante vuestros ojos en la tierra de Egipto, al Faraón, a todos sus siervos y a todo su país: And Moses called all of Israel, and he said to them: “You have seen all the things that the Lord has done in your sight in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to his entire land:3las grandes plagas que vieron vuestros ojos, aquellas señales y maravillas estupendas; the great trials, which your eyes have seen, those immense signs and wonders.4pero hasta el día de hoy Yahvé no os ha dado corazón que entienda, ni ojos que vean, ni oídos que escuchen. But the Lord has not given you an understanding heart, and seeing eyes, and ears that are able to hear, even to this present day.5Durante cuarenta años os he conducido por el desierto, y no se han gastado vuestros vestidos sobre vosotros, ni se ha roto el calzado en tu pie. He led you for forty years through the desert. Your garments have not been worn out, nor have the shoes on your feet been consumed by age.6No habéis comido pan, ni habéis bebido vino ni licor fermentado, a fin de que conocierais que Yo soy Yahvé, vuestro Dios. You did not eat bread, nor did you drink wine or liquor, so that you would know that I am the Lord your God.7Cuando llegasteis a este lugar salieron a nuestro encuentro para Hacernos guerra, Sehón, rey de Hesbón, y Og, rey de Basan, a los cuales derrotamos. And you arrived at this place. And Sihon, the king of Heshbon, and Og, the king of Bashan, went out to meet us in battle. And we struck them down.8Y apoderándonos de su tierra, la dimos en posesión a los rubenitas, a los gaditas y a la media tribu de Manasés. And we took their land and delivered it as a possession to Ruben and to Gad, and to half of the tribe of Manasseh.9Guardad, pues, las palabras de esta alianza y ponedlas por obra, para que tengáis éxito en cuanto emprendáis. Therefore, keep the words of this covenant, and fulfill them, so that you may understand all that you are doing.10Vosotros estáis hoy todos ante Yahvé, vuestro Dios: vuestros príncipes y vuestras tribus, vuestros ancianos y vuestros jefes, todos los hombres de Israel; Today, you all stand in the sight of the Lord your God: your leaders, and tribes, and those greater by birth, and teachers, all the people of Israel,11vuestros niños, vuestras mujeres y el extranjero que se halla en tu campamento, desde tu leñador hasta tu aguador; your children and wives, and the new arrival who dwells with you in the camp, aside from those who cut wood, and those who bring water,12para que entres en la alianza jurada que Yahvé, tu Dios, hace hoy contigo, so that you may cross into the covenant of the Lord your God, and into the oath which the Lord your God strikes with you today.13a fin de constituirte hoy en pueblo suyo, y ser Él tu Dios, como te ha prometido, y como juró a tus padres, a Abrahán, a Isaac y a Jacob. So shall he raise you up as a people to himself, and so shall he be your God, just as he has spoken to you, and just as he swore to your fathers: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.14Y no solamente con vosotros hago yo esta alianza jurada, And I am not forming this covenant and confirm these oaths with you alone,15sino con (todos) los que hoy están aquí con nosotros delante de Yahvé, nuestro Dios, y también con los que no están hoy aquí con nosotros. but with all those who are present as well as those who are absent.16Vosotros sabéis cómo hemos vivido en la tierra de Egipto, y cómo hemos pasado por medio de los pueblos por los cuales tuvisteis que pasar; For you know how we lived in the land of Egypt, and how we passed through the midst of nations. And when passing through them,17y habéis visto sus abominaciones y sus ídolos, leño y piedra, plata y oro, que hay entre ellos. you saw their abominations and filth, that is, their idols of wood and of stone, of silver and of gold, which they worshipped,18No haya, pues, en medio de vosotros hombre o mujer, familia o tribu, cuyo corazón se aparte hoy de Yahvé, nuestro Dios, para ir a servir a los dioses de estos pueblos; no haya entre vosotros raíz que produzca veneno y amargura. so that there would not be among you man or woman, family or tribe, whose heart has been turned away this day from the Lord our God, so as to go and serve the gods of those nations. For then there would be among you a root springing forth gall and bitterness.19Que nadie al oír las palabras de este juramento, se bendiga en su corazón, diciendo: ‘Yo tendré paz aunque persista en la dureza de mi corazón’, de modo que la borrachera terminaría en sed. And if he were to hear the words of this oath, he would bless himself in his own heart saying: ‘There will be peace for me, and I will walk in the depravity of my heart.’ And so, the one who is inebriated would consume the one who is thirsty.20Yahvé no le perdonará; sino que se encenderán la ira de Yahvé y su celo contra tal hombre y se echarán sobre él todas las maldiciones escritas en este libro; y Yahvé borrará su nombre de debajo del cielo. But the Lord would not ignore him. Instead, at that time, his fury and zealousness would be very greatly enflamed against that man, and all the curses which have been written in this volume would settle upon him. And the Lord would abolish his name from under heaven,21Yahvé le separará, para daño suyo, de todas las tribus de Israel, conforme a todas las maldiciones de la alianza escrita en este libro de la Ley. and consume him unto perdition out of all the tribes of Israel, according to the curses which are contained in the book of this law and in the covenant.22Y dirán las generaciones venideras de vuestros hijos que nacerán después de vosotros, y los extranjeros que vinieren de lejanas fierras, al ver las plagas de este país y las enfermedades con que Yahvé lo habrá castigado: And the subsequent generation would speak out, along with the sons who will be born afterward. And the sojourners, who will arrive from far away, will see the plagues of that land and the infirmities with which the Lord will have afflicted it,23azufre y sal, abrasada toda su tierra, en la que no se siembra, y que nada produce; no brota en ella hierba alguna, como sucedió en el asolamiento de Sodoma y Gomorra, Adama y Seboím, que asoló Yahvé en su ira y en su furor. having burned it with sulphur and molten salt, so that it can no longer be sown. And certainly no greenery would spring up, as in the example of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the Lord overturned with his wrath and fury.24Y se preguntarán los pueblos: ‘¿Por qué ha tratado Yahvé así a este país? ¿Por qué el furor de tan terrible cólera?’ And so, all the nations would say: ‘Why has the Lord acted this way toward this land? What is this immense wrath of his fury?’25Y se les dirá: ‘Porque abandonaron la alianza de Yahvé, el Dios de sus padres, que Él hizo con ellos cuando los sacó de la tierra de Egipto. And they will respond: ‘Because they abandoned the covenant of the Lord, which he formed with their fathers, when he led them away from the land of Egypt.26Se fueron y sirvieron a otros dioses, postrándose delante de ellos; dioses que no conocían y que Él no les había atribuido. And they have served foreign gods, and adored them, though they did not know them, and though they had not been allotted to them.27Por tanto se encendió la ira de Yahvé contra este país descargando sobre él todas las maldiciones escritas en este libro; For this reason, the fury of the Lord was enraged against this land, so as to lead over it all the curses which have been written in this volume.28y los desarraigó Yahvé de su tierra con ira, con furor y con grande indignación, y los arrojó a otro país, como hoy se ve.’ And he has cast them out of their own land, with anger and fury, and with a very great indignation, and he has thrown them into a strange land, just as has been proven this day.’29Las cosas secretas son para Yahvé, nuestro Dios, mas las cosas reveladas son para nosotros y para nuestros hijos para siempre, para que pongamos en práctica todas las palabras de esta Ley. These hidden things of the Lord our God have been revealed to us and to our sons in perpetuity, so that we may accomplish all the words of this law.”
