1Cuando Yahvé, tu Dios, te haya introducido en la tierra adónde vas para poseerla, y haya echado de delante de ti a muchos pueblos: a los heteos, gergeseos, amorreos, cananeos, fereceos, heveos y jebuseos, siete pueblos más grandes y más fuertes que tú; “When the Lord your God will have led you to the land, which you will enter so as to possess it, and when he will have destroyed many nations before you, the Hittite, and the Girgashite, and the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, seven nations much more numerous than you, and more robust than you,2y cuando Yahvé, tu Dios, los haya puesto en tu mano y tú los hayas derrotado, los destruirás por completo; no pactarás con ellos, ni les tendrás compasión. and when the Lord your God will have delivered them to you, you shall strike them down unto utter annihilation. You shall not enter into a pact with them, nor shall you show any pity to them.3No contraerás matrimonio con ellos; no darás tu hija a su hijo, ni tomarás su hija para tu hijo; And you shall not associate with them in marriage. You shall not give your daughter to his son, nor accept his daughter for your son.4porque ella apartará de Mí a tu hijo, para que sirva a otros dioses, con lo que Yahvé se irritará contra vosotros y acabará contigo muy pronto. For she will seduce your son, so that he will not follow me, and so that he will instead serve foreign gods. And the fury of the Lord will be enraged, and he will quickly destroy you.5Por el contrario, así habéis de hacer con ellos: derribaréis sus altares, quebraréis sus piedras de culto, cortaréis sus ascheras y quemaréis sus imágenes talladas. So instead, you shall do this to them: overturn their altars, and break their statues, and cut down their sacred groves, and burn up their graven images.6Porque tú eres un pueblo santo para Yahvé, tu Dios; a ti te escogió Yahvé, tu Dios, para que seas pueblo peculiar suyo entre todos los pueblos que hay sobre la faz de la tierra. For you are a holy people to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you so that you would be his particular people out of all the peoples who are upon the earth.7No por ser vosotros más numerosos que los otros pueblos, se ha prendado dé vosotros Yahvé y os ha escogido —pues sois el más pequeño de todos los pueblos—, It is not because you surpass all the nations in number that the Lord has joined with you and has chosen you, for you are the least numerous of any people.8sino por el amor que Yahvé tenía hacia vosotros, y para guardar el juramento que había hecho a vuestros padres, os ha sacado con mano fuerte, rescatándoos de la casa de la servidumbre, de la mano del Faraón, rey de Egipto. But it is because the Lord has loved you, and has kept his oath, which he swore to your fathers. And he has led you away with a strong hand, and he has redeemed you from the house of servitude, from the hand of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt.9Por dónde has de conocer que Yahvé, tu Dios, es el Dios (verdadero), el Dios fiel, que guarda la alianza y la misericordia hasta mil generaciones para con los que le aman y cumplen sus mandamientos; And you shall know that the Lord your God himself is a strong and faithful God, preserving his covenant and his mercy for those who love him and those who keep his precepts for a thousand generations,10pero a quien le odia le da el pago en su misma cara, destruyéndolo. No tardará; a aquel que le odia, le dará su merecido en persona. and promptly repaying those who hate him, so as to utterly ruin them, without further delay, quickly rendering to them what they deserve.11Guarda, pues, los mandamientos, las leyes y los preceptos que Yo te mando hoy, para ponerlos en práctica. Therefore, keep the precepts and ceremonies as well as the judgments, which I command to you this day, so that you may do them.12Si escucháis estos preceptos y los guardáis y ponéis en práctica, también Yahvé, tu Dios, te guardará la alianza y la misericordia que juro a tus padres. If, after you have heard these judgments, you keep and do them, the Lord your God will also keep his covenant with you and the mercy that he swore to your fathers.13Te amará, te bendecirá y te multiplicará; bendecirá el fruto de tu seno y el fruto de tu tierra, tu trigo, tu vino y tu aceite, las crías de tus vacadas y las crías de tus rebaños sobre la tierra que juró a tus padres que te daría. And he will love you and multiply you. And he will bless the fruit of your womb, and the fruit of your land: your grain as well as your vintage, oil, and herds, and the flocks of your sheep, upon the land about which he swore to your fathers that he would give it to you.14Serás bendito más que todos los pueblos; no habrá varón ni mujer estéril en medio de ti, ni tampoco entre tus ganados. Blessed shall you be among all peoples. No one will be barren among you of either gender, as much among men as among your herds.15Desterrará Yahvé de ti toda enfermedad, y no descargará sobre ti ninguna de las enfermedades malignas de Egipto, que tú conoces; no las enviará contra ti, sino que las descargará sobre todos los que te odian. The Lord will take all sickness away from you. And the very grievous infirmities of Egypt, which you have known, he will not bring upon you, but upon your enemies.16Devorarás a todos los pueblos que Yahvé, tu Dios, te va a entregar; no los perdonará tu ojo, ni sirvas a sus dioses; pues esto sería para ti un lazo. You shall devour all the peoples, which the Lord your God will deliver to you. Your eye shall not spare them, neither shall you serve their gods, lest they be your ruin.17Acaso dirás en tu corazón: ‘Estos pueblos son más numerosos que yo, ¿cómo podré arrojarlos?’ If you say in your heart, ‘These nations are more than I am, so how will I be able to destroy them?’18No los temas; acuérdate bien de lo que hizo Yahvé, tu Dios, con el Faraón y con todo Egipto, do not be apprehensive. Instead, recall what the Lord your God did to Pharaoh and to all the Egyptians:19y de las grandes pruebas que vieron tus ojos, de las señales, las maravillas, la mano fuerte y el brazo extendido con que te sacó Yahvé, el Dios tuyo. Del mismo modo hará Yahvé, tu Dios, con todos los pueblos a los cuales tú temes. the very great plagues, which your eyes saw, and the signs and wonders, and the powerful hand and outstretched arm, by which the Lord your God led you away. So will he do to all the peoples, whom you dread.20Aun avispones enviará Yahvé, tu Dios, contra ellos, hasta que perezcan los restantes y los que se hayan escondido de tu presencia. Moreover, the Lord your God will also send hornets among them, until he destroys and scatters all who have escaped from you, or who have been able to hide.21No los temas, pues en medio de ti está Yahvé, tu Dios, el Dios grande y terrible. You shall not fear them, for the Lord your God is in your midst: a great and terrible God.22Yahvé, tu Dios, expulsará estos pueblos delante de ti poco a poco; no podrás acabar con ellos de golpe, no sea que se multipliquen contra ti las fieras del campo. He himself will consume these nations in your sight, a little at a time, by degrees. You will not be able to destroy them all at once. Otherwise, the wild beasts of the earth might increase against you.23Yahvé, tu Dios, los pondrá en tu poder y los llenará de gran consternación, hasta que sean exterminados. And so, the Lord your God will present them in your sight, and you shall slay them until they are thoroughly wiped away.24Él entregará sus reyes en tu mano, y tú borrarás sus nombres de debajo del cielo. Nadie podrá resistirte, hasta que los hayas destruido. And he shall deliver their kings into your hands, and you shall abolish their names from under heaven. No one will be able to withstand you, until you crush them.25Entregarás al fuego las estatuas de sus dioses. No codicies la plata y el oro que hubiere sobre ellas, ni lo tomarás para ti, no sea que te sirva para ruina; porque es abominación para Yahvé, tu Dios. Their graven images, you shall burn with fire. You shall not covet the silver or gold from which they have been made. And you shall not take for yourself anything from these, lest you offend, because this is an abomination to the Lord your God.26No lleves tal abominación a tu casa, para no ser anatema como lo es ella. Detéstala y abomínala en extremo, por cuanto es anatema. Neither shall you carry anything of the idol into your house, lest you become accursed, just as it also is. You shall detest it like dung, and you shall abominate it like defilement and filth, because it is an accursed thing.”
