Ester 15
1Y le envió a decir —sin duda era Mardoqueo— que se presentase al rey, y rogase por su pueblo y por su patria: And he entrusted her (there was no question but that it was Mordecai) to go in to the king, and to petition on behalf of her people and her native land.2“Acuérdate, le dijo, del tiempo en que te hallabas en estado humilde, y como te he alimentado con mi mano; porque Amán, el segundo después del rey, ha hablado contra nosotros para (tramar) nuestra muerte. “Remember,” he said, “the days of your lowliness, how you were nurtured as if in my hand, because Haman, who is second after the king, has spoken against us to death.3Por tanto, invoca Tú al Señor, y habla por nosotros al rey, para librarnos de la muerte.” And you must call upon the Lord, and speak with the king on our behalf, and free us from death.”4Al tercer día dejó los vestidos de penitencia y se vistió con todas sus galas. So, on the third day, she put away her ornate apparel, and surrounded herself with glory.5Y así, brillando con el esplendor de los aderezos de reina, e invocando a Dios, que es el árbitro y salvador de todos, tomó consigo dos de sus criadas, And when she was shining in a royal manner, and had called upon God, the Guide and Savior of all, she took two maids with her.6apoyándose sobre una de ellas, como que por la suma delicadeza y debilidad no podía sostener su cuerpo. And she was leaning upon one of them, as if, out of delicateness and great tenderness, she were not able to bear carrying her own body.7La otra criada iba detrás de su señora, llevándole la falda que arrastraba por el suelo. And the other maid followed her lady, carrying her garment flowing on the ground.8Ella, empero, con el color de rosa en su rostro, y con la gracia y brillo de sus ojos, ocultaba la tristeza de su corazón, oprimida por un excesivo temor. Yet she had a rosy color pouring over her face, for, with gracious and bright eyes, she restrained a sorrowful soul and very great fear.9Pasó una por una todas las puertas, hasta que llegó a la presencia del rey, en donde este se hallaba sentado sobre el solio de su reino, vestido con las vestiduras reales y reluciente de oro y pedrería, pero de un aspecto que causaba terror. And so, entering hesitantly through a series of doors, she stood opposite the king, where he sat upon his royal throne, clothed in royal robes, and shining with gold and precious stones. And he was terrible to behold.10Cuando él alzó la vista y manifestó en sus ojos encendidos el furor de su pecho, la reina se desmayó, y mudándose su color en palidez, dejó caer su fatigada cabeza sobre la criada. And when he had lifted up his face, and with burning eyes had shown the fury of his heart, the queen collapsed, and her color turned pale, and she rested her exhausted head upon her handmaid.11Entonces Dios trocó la ira del rey en dulzura, y apresurado y temeroso saltó del trono, y sosteniéndola con sus brazos hasta que volvió en sí, la acariciaba con estas palabras: And God changed the king’s spirit into gentleness; quickly and apprehensively, he leapt from his throne, and lifting her up in his arms until she came to herself, he coaxed her with these words:12“¿Qué tienes, Ester? Yo soy tu hermano, no temas. “What is the matter, Esther? I am your brother, do not be afraid.13No morirás, porque esta ley fue puesta para todos los demás, pero no para ti. You will not die. For this law has not been established for you, but for all others.14Acércate y toca el cetro.” So approach and touch the scepter.”15Y como ella no hablase, tomó él el cetro de oro, y poniéndoselo sobre el cuello la besó, diciendo: “¿Por qué no me hablas?” And since she remained silent, he took the golden scepter and placed it on her neck, and he kissed her and said, “Why do you not speak to me?”16Entonces ella respondió: “Te he visto, señor, como a un ángel de Dios, y ante el temor de tu majestad quedó conturbado mi corazón. She answered, “I saw you, my lord, as an angel of God, and my heart was disturbed for fear of your glory.17Porque tú, señor, eres en extremo admirable, y tu rostro está lleno de gracias.” For you, my lord, are great and wonderful, and your face is full of grace.”18Mientras decía esto se desmayó de nuevo, quedando casi exánime, And while she was speaking, she collapsed again, because she was out of breath.19por lo cual el rey se acongojaba, y todos sus ministros consolaban a Ester. But the king was troubled, and all his servants consoled her.
