Éxodo 3
1Un día, apacentando las ovejas de Jetró, su suegro, sacerdote de Madián, llevó Moisés las ovejas al interior del desierto y vino al Horeb (que es) el monte de Dios. Now Moses was pasturing the sheep of his father-in-law Jethro, a priest of Midian. And when he had driven the flock into the interior of the desert, he came to the mountain of God, Horeb.2Y se le apareció el Ángel de Yahvé en una llama de fuego, en medio de una zarza. Veía cómo la zarza ardía en el fuego, pero la zarza no se consumía. And the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. And he saw that the bush was burning and was not burnt.3Dijo, pues, Moisés: “Iré a contemplar este gran fenómeno (para saber) por qué no se consume la zarza.” Therefore, Moses said, “I will go and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.”4Cuando Yahvé vio que se ponía en marcha para mirar, lo llamó de en medio de la zarza, diciendo: “¡Moisés, Moisés!” “Heme aquí”, respondió él. Then the Lord, discerning that he proceeded on to see it, called to him from the midst of the bush, and he said, “Moses, Moses.” And he responded, “Here I am.”5Y Dios le dijo: “No te acerques aquí; quita el calzado de tus pies, porque el lugar en que estás, es tierra santa.” And he said: “Lest you should approach here, remove the shoes from your feet. For the place on which you stand is holy ground.”6Y añadió: “Yo soy el Dios de tu padre, el Dios de Abrahán, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob.” Se cubrió entonces Moisés el rostro, porque temía mirar a Dios. And he said, “I am the God of your father: the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Moses hid his face, for he dared not look directly at God.7Y dijo Yahvé: “He visto la aflicción de mi pueblo que está en Egipto, y he escuchado el clamor que levanta a causa de sus exactores; pues conozco sus sufrimientos. And the Lord said to him: “I have seen the affliction of my people in Egypt, and I have heard their outcry because of the harshness of those who are over the works.8He descendido para librarlo de la mano de los egipcios y para llevarlo de esta tierra a una buena y espaciosa; a una tierra que mana leche y miel, al país del cananeo, heteo, amorreo, fereceo, heveo y jebuseo. And knowing their sorrow, I have descended in order to free them from the hands of the Egyptians, and to lead them from that land into a good and spacious land, into a land which flows with milk and honey, to the places of the Canaanite, and Hittite, and Amorite, and Perizzite, and Hivite, and Jebusite.9Ahora el clamor de los hijos de Israel ha llegado hasta Mí y también he visto la opresión con que los egipcios los oprimen. And so, the outcry of the sons of Israel has come to me. And I have seen their affliction, with which they are oppressed by the Egyptians.10Ve, por tanto, y te enviaré al Faraón, para que saques a mi pueblo, los hijos de Israel, de Egipto.” But come, and I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may lead my people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.”11Moisés respondió a Dios: “¿Quién soy yo para ir al Faraón y sacar a los hijos de Israel de Egipto?” And Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and that I should lead the sons of Israel out of Egypt?”12Respondió Él: “Yo estaré contigo y esto te servirá de señal de que Yo te he enviado: cuando hayas sacado al pueblo de Egipto, serviréis a Dios en este monte.” And he said to him: “I will be with you. And you will have this as a sign that I have sent you: When you will have brought my people out of Egypt, you will offer sacrifice to God upon this mountain.”13Contestó Moisés a Dios: “Iré, pues, a los hijos de Israel y les diré: El Dios de vuestros padres me ha enviado a vosotros; pero cuando me pregunten: ¿Cuál es su nombre? ¿Qué les responderé? Moses said to God: “Behold, I will go to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you.’ If they say to me, ‘What is his name?’ What shall I say to them?”14Entonces dijo Dios a Moisés: “Yo soy el que soy.” Y agregó: “Así dirás a los hijos de Israel: «El que es me ha enviado a vosotros.»” God said to Moses, “I AM WHO AM.” He said: “Thus shall you say to the sons of Israel: ‘HE WHO IS has sent me to you.’ ”15Prosiguió Dios diciendo a Moisés: “Así dirás a los hijos de Israel: Yahvé, el Dios de vuestros padres, el Dios de Abrahán, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob, me ha enviado a vosotros. Este es mi nombre para siempre, y este mi memorial de generación en generación. And God said again to Moses: “Thus shall you say to the sons of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is the name for me in eternity, and this is my memorial from generation to generation.16Ve, pues, y reúne a los ancianos de Israel, y diles: Yahvé, el Dios de vuestros padres, el Dios de Abrahán, de Isaac y de Jacob se me apareció y me dijo: Yo os he visitado (para ver) lo que os hacen en Egipto. Go and gather together the elders of Israel, and you shall say to them: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to me, saying: When visiting, I have visited you, and I have seen all that has befallen you in Egypt.17Y queda dicho: Os sacaré de la tribulación de Egipto, al país del cananeo, heteo, amorreo, fereceo, heveo y jebuseo, a una tierra que mana leche y miel. And I have spoken in order to lead you out of the affliction of Egypt, into the land of the Canaanite, and Hittite, and Amorite, and Perizzite, and Hivite, and Jebusite, into a land flowing with milk and honey.’18Ellos escucharán tu voz, y tú irás con los ancianos de Israel al rey de Egipto; y le diréis: Yahvé, el Dios de los hebreos, se nos ha manifestado. Permite, pues, que vayamos camino de tres días al desierto, para ofrecer sacrificios a Yahvé, nuestro Dios. And they shall hear your voice. And you shall enter, you and the elders of Israel, to the king of Egypt, and you shall say to him: ‘The Lord God of the Hebrews has called us. We shall go three days’ journey into the wilderness, in order to offer sacrifice to the Lord our God.’19Ya sé que el rey de Egipto no os dejará ir, si no será por mano poderosa. But I know that the king of Egypt will not release you, unless you go out by a powerful hand.20Por eso extenderé mi mano y heriré a Egipto con toda suerte de prodigios, que obraré allí; y después de esto os dejará salir. For I will extend my hand, and I will strike Egypt with all my wonders that I will do in the midst of them. After these things, he will release you.21Y haré que este pueblo halle gracia a los ojos de los egipcios, de modo que cuando partáis, no saldréis con las manos vacías, And I will grant favor to this people in the sight of the Egyptians. And so, when you go forth, you shall not go out empty.22sino que cada mujer pedirá a su vecina y a la que mora en su casa, objetos de plata y objetos de oro, y vestidos, que pondréis a vuestros hijos y a vuestras hijas, despojando así a los egipcios.” But every woman shall ask of her neighbor and of her hostess vessels of silver and of gold, as well as garments. And you shall set them upon your sons and daughters, and you shall despoil Egypt.”
