1Y gritó a mis oídos con voz fuerte y dijo: “Acercaos los que estáis encargados del castigo de la ciudad, cada uno con su arma de destrucción en su mano.” And he cried out in my ears with a loud voice, saying: “The visitations of the city have drawn near, and each one has equipment for killing in his hand.”2Y he aquí que venían seis varones por el camino de la puerta superior, que mira al norte; y cada uno tenía en su mano su instrumento de destrucción. En medio de ellos estaba un varón vestido de lino, que traía en la cintura un tintero de escriba. Entraron y se pusieron junto al altar de bronce. And behold, six men were approaching from the way of the upper gate, which looks to the north. And each one had equipment for killing in his hand. Also, one man in their midst was clothed with linen, and an instrument for writing was at his waist. And they entered and stood beside the bronze altar.3Entonces la gloria del Dios de Israel se elevó de encima del Querubim, sobre el cual residía, hacia el umbral de la Casa; y llamó al varón vestido de lino, el cual traía en su cintura el tintero de escriba. And the glory of the Lord of Israel was taken up, from the cherub upon which he was, to the threshold of the house. And he called out to the man who was clothed with linen and had an instrument for writing at his waist.4y le dijo Yahvé: “Pasa por en medio de la ciudad, por en medio de Jerusalén, y pon por marca una Tau en la frente de los hombres que gimen y se lamentan a causa de todas las abominaciones que se cometen dentro de ella.” And the Lord said to him: “Cross through the middle of the city, in the center of Jerusalem, and seal a Tau upon the foreheads of the grieving men, who are mourning over all the abominations which are being committed in its midst.”5A los otros les dijo, oyéndolo yo: “Pasad tras él por la ciudad, y matad. No perdone vuestro ojo, ni tengáis piedad. And he said to the others, in my hearing: “Cross through the city after him, and strike! Your eye shall not be lenient, and you shall not take pity.6Matad al anciano y al joven, a las doncellas, a los niños y a las mujeres, hasta el exterminio. Mas no os acerquéis a ninguno que esté marcado con la Tau. Y comenzad por mi Santuario.” Comenzaron, pues, por los ancianos que estaban delante de la Casa. Kill, even to utter destruction, old men, young men, and virgins, little ones, and women. But all upon whom you see the Tau, you shall not kill. And begin from my sanctuary.” Therefore, they began with the men among the elders, who were before the face of the house.7Y les dijo: “Contaminad la Casa y llenad los atrios de cadáveres. Salid.” Salieron y mataron en la ciudad. And he said to them: “Defile the house, and fill its courts with the slain! Go forth!” And they went forth and struck down those who were in the city.8Mientras ellos mataban y quedándome yo (solo), me postré sobre mi rostro y clamé, diciendo: “¡Ay, Señor Yahvé! ¿Vas a destruir todo el resto de Israel, derramando tu cólera sobre Jerusalén?” And when the slaughter was completed, I remained. And I fell upon my face, and crying out, I said: “Alas, alas, alas, O Lord God! Will you now destroy the entire remnant of Israel, by pouring out your fury upon Jerusalem?”9Me respondió: “La iniquidad de la casa de Israel y de Judá es demasiado grande; la tierra se ha llenado de sangre y la ciudad está atestada de injusticias; porque dicen: Yahvé ha abandonado la tierra, Yahvé no ve nada. And he said to me: “The iniquity of the house of Israel, and of Judah, is vast and exceedingly great, and the land has been filled with blood, and the city has been filled with what is abhorrent. For they have said: ‘The Lord has forsaken the earth,’ and, ‘The Lord does not see.’10Por eso tampoco perdonará mi ojo, y ya no tendré piedad; haré recaer sus obras sobre su cabeza.” Therefore, my eye will not be lenient, and I will not take pity. I will repay their own way upon their head.”11Y he aquí que aquel varón vestido de lino, que tenía en su cintura el tintero, vino a dar parte, diciendo: “He hecho según me mandaste.” And behold, the man who was clothed with linen, who had a writing instrument at his back, responded a word, saying: “I have done just as you instructed me.”
