1Era el día veinticuatro del mes sexto del segundo año del rey Darío. On the twenty-fourth day of the month, in the sixth month, in the second year of king Darius, they began.2El veintiuno del mes séptimo, habló Yahvé, por boca del profeta Ageo, en estos términos: And in the seventh month, on the twenty-first of the month, the word of the Lord came, by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying:3“Habla a Zorobabel, hijo de Salatiel, gobernador de Judá, y al Sumo Sacerdote Jesús, hijo de Josedec, y al resto del pueblo, y diles: Speak to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, the governor of Judah, and to Jesus the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remainder of the people, saying:4¿Vive entre vosotros aún un hombre que haya visto esta Casa en su gloria anterior? ¿Y qué tal os parece ahora? ¿No es a vuestros ojos como nada? Who is left among you, who saw this house in its first glory? And how do you see it now? Is it not, in comparison to that, as nothing in your eyes?5Ahora, pues, cobra ánimo, oh Zorobabel, dice Yahvé. Cobra ánimo, oh Jesús, hijo de Josedec, Sumo Sacerdote; cobra ánimo, pueblo todo del país, dice Yahvé. ¡Y manos a la obra! pues Yo estoy con vosotros, dice Yahvé de los ejércitos. And now be strengthened, Zerubbabel, says the Lord. And be strengthened, Jesus the son of Jehozadak, the high priest. And be strengthened, all people of the land, says the Lord of hosts. For I am with you, says the Lord of hosts.6Por el pacto qué hice con vosotros cuando salisteis de Egipto, mi Espíritu está en medio de vosotros. No temáis. And act according to the word that I planted with you when you departed from the land of Egypt. And my Spirit will be in your midst. Do not be afraid.7Porque así dice Yahvé de los ejércitos: Una vez más, y esto dentro de poco, conmoveré el cielo y la tierra, el mar y los continentes. For thus says the Lord of hosts: There is yet one brief time, and I will move heaven and earth, and the sea and the dry land.8Conmoveré todas las naciones, y vendrán los tesoros de todos los pueblos, y henchiré de gloria esta Casa, dice Yahvé de los ejércitos. And I will move all nations. And the Desired of all nations will arrive. And I will fill this house with glory, says the Lord of hosts.9Mía es la plata, mío el oro, dice Yahvé de los ejércitos. Mine is the silver, and mine is the gold, says the Lord of hosts.10Grande será la gloria de esta Casa; más grande que la primera será su postrera, dice Yahvé de los ejércitos; y en este lugar daré la paz, dice Yahvé de los ejércitos.” Great shall be the glory of this house, the last more than the first, says the Lord of hosts. And in this place, I will bestow peace, says the Lord of hosts.11El día veinticuatro del mes noveno del año segundo de Darío, habló Yahvé por boca del profeta Ageo, en estos términos: On the twenty-fourth of the ninth month, in the second year of king Darius, the word of the Lord came to Haggai the prophet, saying:12“Así dice Yahvé de los ejércitos: Propón a los sacerdotes esta cuestión legal: Thus says the Lord of hosts: the priests question the law, saying:13Si uno lleva carne sagrada en una falda de su vestido, y toca con esa su falda pan, o un guiso, o vino, o aceite, o cualquier clase de comida, ¿quedarán acaso santificadas estas cosas?” Respondieron los sacerdotes y dijeron que no. If a man will have carried sanctified flesh in the pocket of his garment, and the top of it touches his bread, or appetizer, or wine, or oil, or any food, shall it be sanctified? But the priests responded by saying, “No.”14Luego dijo Ageo: “Si uno está inmundo por (haber tocado a) un muerto y toca alguna de estas cosas, ¿quedarán estas inmundas?” Respondieron los sacerdotes y dijeron: “Quedarán inmundas.” And Haggai said, “If the polluted in soul will have touched any of all these things, shall it be contaminated?” And the priests responded and said, “It shall be contaminated.”15Entonces Ageo tomó la palabra y dijo: “Así es este pueblo, y así es esta nación, delante de Mí, dice Yahvé; y así son todas las obras de sus manos; inmundo es lo que me ofrecen en este lugar. And Haggai answered and he said: Such is this people, and such is this nation before my face, says the Lord, and such is all the work of their hands. And so all that they have offered there has been contaminated.16Mirad ahora (lo que sucederá) desde este día en adelante: Antes de poner vosotros piedra sobre piedra en el Templo de Yahvé, And now, consider in your hearts, from this day and beyond, before stone may be placed upon stone in the temple of the Lord:17cuando uno iba a un montón de veinte había solamente diez (medidas), cuando iba al lagar para sacar cincuenta, había solamente veinte, when you approached a pile of twenty measures, and they became ten, and you entered to the press, to press out fifty bottles, and they became twenty,18porque Yo os castigué con tizón y añublo y granizo, (destruyendo) todas las labores de vuestras manos; y con todo no os volvisteis a Mí, dice Yahvé. how I struck you with a burning wind, and a mildew, and a hailstorm, all the works of your hand, yet there was no one among you who returned to me, says the Lord.19Pero mirad (lo que sucederá) desde este día en adelante, desde el día veinte y cuatro del mes noveno, desde el día en que han sido echados los cimientos de la Casa de Yahvé. ¡Miradlo bien! Set your hearts from this day and into the future, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day that the foundations of the temple of the Lord have been uttered, and place it upon your heart.20La semilla está todavía en el granero; la vid, la higuera, el granado, el olivo no han dado aún su fruto, pero desde este día haré Yo mi bendición.” Has the seed been germinated yet? And has the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree still not flourished? From this day on, I will bless you.21Habló Yahvé a Ageo por segunda vez, el día veinte y cuatro del mes, diciendo: And the word of the Lord came a second time to Haggai, on the twenty-fourth of the month, saying:22“Habla a Zorobabel, gobernador de Judá, y dile: Yo conmoveré el cielo y la tierra; Speak to Zerubbabel the governor of Judah, saying: I will move both heaven and earth.23trastornaré el trono de los reinos y destruiré el poder de los reinos de los gentiles, volcaré los carros y sus ocupantes, y caerán los caballos y los que en ellos cabalgan, los unos por la espada de los otros. And I will overturn the throne of kingdoms, and I will crush the strength of the kingdom of the Gentiles. And I will overturn the four-horse chariot, and its rider; and the horses and their riders shall be brought down, a man by the sword of his brother.24En aquel día, dice Yahvé de los ejércitos, te tomaré, oh Zorobabel, hijo de Salatiel, siervo mío, dice Yahvé, y te haré como anillo de sellar, porque Yo te he escogido”, dice Yahvé de los ejércitos. In that day, says the Lord of hosts, I will take you, Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, my servant, says the Lord, and will set you like a seal, for I have chosen you, says the Lord of hosts.
