Hebreos 2

1Por lo cual debemos prestar mayor atención a las cosas que (ahora) hemos oído, no sea que nos deslicemos. For this reason, it is necessary for us to observe more thoroughly the things that we have heard, lest we let them slip away.2Porque si la palabra anunciada por ángeles fue firme y toda transgresión y desobediencia recibió su justa retribución, For if a word that was spoken through the Angels has been made firm, and every transgression and disobedience has received the recompense of a just retribution,3¿cómo escaparemos nosotros si tenemos en poco una salud tan grande? La cual habiendo principiado por la Palabra del Señor, nos fue confirmada por los que la oyeron; in what way might we escape, if we neglect such a great salvation? For though initially it had begun to be described by the Lord, it was confirmed among us by those who heard him,4dando testimonio juntamente con ellos Dios, por señales, prodigios y diversos milagros y por dones del Espíritu Santo conforme a su voluntad. with God testifying to it by signs and wonders, and by various miracles, and by the pouring out of the Holy Spirit, in accord with his own will.5Porque no a ángeles sometió Él el orbe de la tierra venidero de que estamos hablando. For God did not subject the future world, about which we are speaking, to the Angels.6Mas alguien testificó en cierto lugar diciendo: “¿Qué es el hombre para que te acuerdes de él, o el hijo del hombre para que lo visites? But someone, in a certain place, has testified, saying: “What is man, that you are mindful of him, or the Son of man, that you visit him?7Lo rebajaste un momento por debajo de los ángeles; lo coronaste de gloria y honor, y lo pusiste sobre las obras de tus manos; You have reduced him to a little less than the Angels. You have crowned him with glory and honor, and you have set him over the works of your hands.8todo sujetaste bajo sus pies”. Porque al someter a Él todas las cosas nada dejó que no le hubiera sometido. Al presente, empero, no vemos todavía sujetas a Él todas las cosas; You have subjected all things under his feet.” For in as much as he has subjected all things to him, he has left nothing not subject to him. But in the present time, we do not yet perceive that all things have been made subject to him.9pero sí vemos a Aquel que fue hecho un momento menor que los ángeles: a Jesús, coronado de gloria y honor, a causa de la pasión de su muerte, para que por la gracia de Dios padeciese la muerte por todos. Yet we understand that Jesus, who was reduced to a little less than the Angels, was crowned with glory and honor because of his Passion and death, in order that, by the grace of God, he might taste death for all.10Pues convenía que Aquel para quien son todas las cosas, y por quien todas subsisten, queriendo llevar muchos hijos a la gloria, consumase al autor de la salud de ellos por medio de padecimientos. For it was fitting for him, because of whom and through whom all things exist, who had led many children into glory, to complete the authorship of their salvation through his Passion.11Porque todos, tanto el que santifica, como los que son santificados, vienen de uno solo, por lo cual no se avergüenza de llamarlos hermanos, For he who sanctifies, and those who are sanctified, are all from One. For this reason, he is not ashamed to call them brothers, saying:12diciendo: “Anunciaré tu nombre a mis hermanos, en medio de la asamblea cantaré tu alabanza”. “I will announce your name to my brothers. In the midst of the Church, I will praise you.”13Y otra vez: “Yo pondré mi confianza en Él”. Y de nuevo: “Heme aquí a mí y a los hijos que Dios me ha dado”. And again: “I will be faithful in him.” And again: “Behold, I and my children, whom God has given to me.”14Así que, como los hijos participan de sangre y carne, también Él participó igualmente de ellas, a fin de que por medio de la muerte destruyese a aquel que tiene el imperio de la muerte, esto es, al diablo, Therefore, because children have a common flesh and blood, he himself also, in like manner, has shared in the same, so that through death, he might destroy him who held the dominion of death, that is, the devil,15y librase a todos los que, por temor de la muerte, durante toda su vida estaban sujetos a servidumbre. and so that he might free those who, through the fear of death, had been condemned to servitude throughout their entire life.16Porque en manera alguna toma sobre sí a los ángeles, sino al linaje de Abrahán. For at no time did he take hold of the Angels, but instead he took hold of the offspring of Abraham.17Por lo cual tuvo que ser en todo semejante a sus hermanos a fin de que, en lo tocante a Dios, fuese un sumo sacerdote misericordioso y fiel para expiar los pecados del pueblo, Therefore, it is fitting for him to be made similar to his brothers in all things, so that he might become a merciful and faithful High Priest before God, in order that he might bring forgiveness to the offenses of the people.18pues, en las mismas cosas que Él padeció siendo tentado, puede socorrer a los que sufren pruebas. For in as much as he himself has suffered and has been tempted, he also is able to assist those who are tempted.
