Hebreos 5

1Todo Sumo Sacerdote tomado de entre los hombres es constituido en bien de los hombres, en lo concerniente a Dios, para que ofrezca dones y sacrificios por los pecados, For every high priest, having been taken from among men, is appointed on behalf of men toward the things which pertain to God, so that he may offer gifts and sacrifices on behalf of sins;2capaz de ser compasivo con los ignorantes y extraviados, ya que también él está rodeado de flaqueza; he is able to commiserate with those who are ignorant and who wander astray, because he himself is also encompassed by infirmity.3y a causa de ella debe sacrificar por los pecados propios lo mismo que por los del pueblo. And because of this, he also must make such offerings for sins even for himself, in the same manner as for the people.4Y nadie se toma este honor sino el que es llamado por Dios, como lo fue Aarón. Neither does anyone take up this honor himself, but rather he who is called by God, just as Aaron was.5Así Cristo no se exaltó a Sí mismo en hacerse Sumo Sacerdote, sino Aquel que le dijo: “Mi Hijo eres Tú, hoy te he engendrado”. Thus, even Christ did not glorify himself, so as to become High Priest, but instead, it was God who said to him: “You are my Son. Today I have begotten you.”6Así como dice también en otro lugar: “Tú eres sacerdote para siempre, según el orden de Melquisedec”. And similarly, he says in another place: “You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.”7El cual (Cristo) en los días de su carne, con grande clamor y lágrimas, ofreció ruegos y suplicas a Aquel que era poderoso para salvarle de la muerte; y habiendo obtenido ser librado del temor, It is Christ who, in the days of his flesh, with a strong cry and tears, offered prayers and supplications to the One who was able to save him from death, and who was heard because of his reverence.8aunque era Hijo, aprendió la paciencia por sus padecimientos And although, certainly, he is the Son of God, he learned obedience by the things that he suffered.9y, una vez perfeccionado, vino a ser causa de sempiterna salud para todos los que le obedecen, And having reached his consummation, he was made, for all who are obedient to him, the cause of eternal salvation,10siendo constituido por Dios Sumo Sacerdote según el orden de Melquisedec. having been called by God to be the High Priest, according to the order of Melchizedek.11Sobre Él tenemos mucho que decir, y difícil de expresar por cuanto se os han embotado los oídos. Our message about him is great, and difficult to explain when speaking, because you have been made feeble when listening.12Debiendo ya ser maestros después de tanto tiempo, tenéis otra vez necesidad de que alguien os enseñe los primeros rudimentos de los oráculos de Dios y habéis venido a necesitar de leche, y no de alimento sólido. For even though it is the time when you ought to be teachers, you are still lacking, so that you must be taught the things that are the basic elements of the Word of God, and so you have been made like those who are in need of milk, and not of solid food.13Pues todo el que se cría con leche es rudo en la palabra de justicia, como que es niño. For anyone who is still feeding on milk is still unskillful in the Word of Justice; for he is like an infant.14El alimento sólido, en cambio, es para los hombres hechos, para aquellos que por el uso tienen sus sentidos ejercitados para discernir lo bueno de lo malo. But solid food is for those who are mature, for those who, by practice, have sharpened their mind, so as to discern good from evil.
