Isaías 10
1¡Ay de los que establecen leyes inicuas, y de los que ponen por escrito las injusticias decretadas, Woe to those who make unfair laws, and who, when writing, write injustice:2para apartar del tribunal a los desvalidos, y privar de su derecho a los pobres de mi pueblo, para que las viudas sean su presa y los huérfanos su botín. in order to oppress the poor in judgment, and to do violence to the case of the humble of my people, in order that widows may be their prey, and that they might plunder the orphan.3¿Qué haréis en el día del castigo, en la desolación que viene de lejos? ¿A quién acudiréis en busca de auxilio? Y ¿dónde dejaréis vuestra gloria, What will you do on the day of visitation and calamity which is approaching from afar? To whom will you flee for assistance? And where will you leave behind your own glory,4para no doblar la cerviz entre los prisioneros y no caer entre los muertos? Con todo esto no se aparta su ira, antes su mano está aún extendida. so that you may not be bowed down under the chains, and fall with the slain? Concerning all this, his fury was not turned away; instead, his hand was still extended.5¡Ay de Asiria, vara de mi ira! el bastón en su mano es (instrumento de) mi furor. Woe to Assur! He is the rod and the staff of my fury, and my indignation is in their hands.6Contra una nación impía le enviaré, le daré orden de ir contra el pueblo, objeto de mi ira, para saquearlo y llevarse el botín, para pisotearlo como al lodo de las calles. I will send him to a deceitful nation, and I will order him against the people of my fury, so that he may take away the plunder, and tear apart the prey, and place it to be trampled like the mud of the streets.7Pero él no piensa así, y su corazón no tiene tal concepto; pues su corazón piensa en destruir y exterminar naciones en gran número. But he will not consider it to be so, and his heart will not suppose it to be this way. Instead, his heart will be set to crush and to exterminate more than a few nations.8Porque dice: ¿No son todos mis príncipes reyes? For he will say:9¿No tuvo Calnó la misma suerte que Carquemís, Hamat la misma que Arpad, y Samaria la misma que Damasco? “Are not my princes like many kings? Is not Calno like Carchemish, and Hamath like Arpad? Is not Samaria like Damascus?10Como mi mano halló los reinos de los ídolos, cuyas imágenes eran más numerosas que las de Jerusalén y de Samaria, In the same manner as my hand reached the kingdoms of the idol, so also will it reach their false images, those of Jerusalem and of Samaria.11y como he hecho con Samaria y sus ídolos, ¿no podré hacer lo mismo con Jerusalén y sus simulacros? Should I not do to Jerusalem and her false images, just as I have done to Samaria and her idols?”12Pero acaecerá que cuando el Señor haya cumplido toda su obra en el monte Sión y en Jerusalén, castigará las empresas orgullosas del rey de Asiria, y la arrogancia de sus altivos ojos, And this shall be: when the Lord will have completed each of his works on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, I will act against the fruit of the exalted heart of king Assur, and against the glory of the haughtiness of his eyes.13porque él dice: “Con el poder de mi mano he hecho esto, y con mi sabiduría, pues soy inteligente. He mudado los límites de los pueblos y saqueado sus tesoros; y como un héroe he derribado a los sentados (sobre tronos). For he has said: “I have acted with the strength of my own hand, and I have understood with my own wisdom, and I have removed the limits of the people, and I have plundered their leaders, and, like one with power, I have pulled down those residing on high.14Mi mano ha hallado, como un nido, las riquezas de los pueblos; y como quien recoge los huevos abandonados, así me he apoderado de toda la tierra: y no hubo quien moviese las alas ni abriese el pico para piar.” And my hand has reached to the strength of the people, as to a nest. And, just as the eggs which have been left behind are gathered, so have I gathered the entire earth. And there was no one who moved a wing, or opened a mouth, or uttered a snarl.”15¿Acaso el hacha se gloría contra aquel que corta con ella? ¿o se ensoberbece la sierra contra aquel que la maneja? Como si la vara dirigiera al que la alza, como si el bastón se levantase a sí mismo y no fuese leño. Should the axe glorify itself over him who wields it? Or can the saw exalt itself over him who pulls it? How can a rod lift itself up against him who wields it, or a staff exalt itself, though it is only wood?16Por eso el Señor, Yahvé de los ejércitos, enviará la extenuación entre sus robustos, y por debajo de su gloria arderá un fuego como fuego de incendio. Because of this, the sovereign Lord, the Lord of hosts, will send leanness among his fat ones. And under the influence of his glory, a burning ardor will rage, like a consuming fire.17La Luz de Israel será el fuego, y su Santo la llama, y devorará las zarzas y espinas de (Asiria) en un solo día. And the light of Israel will be like a fire, and the Holy One of Israel will be like a flame. And his thorns and briers will be set ablaze and devoured, in one day.18La gloria de su bosque y de su campo fructífero será consumida completamente así como se consume un enfermo. And the glory of his forest and of his beautiful hill will be consumed, from the soul even to the flesh. And he will flee away in terror.19Y los árboles que sobraren de su bosque, serán tan pocos en número, que un niño podrá hacer su censo. And what remains of the trees of his forest will be so few, and so easily numbered, that even a child could write them down.20En aquel día los que quedaren de Israel y los salvados de la casa de Jacob, no volverán más a apoyarse en aquel que le hirió, sino que se apoyarán con fidelidad en Yahvé, el Santo de Israel. And this shall be in that day: those not added to the remnant of Israel, and those who escape of the house of Jacob, will not lean upon him who strikes them. Instead, they will lean upon the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.21Se convertirá un resto, un resto de Jacob, al Dios fuerte. The remnant of Jacob, again I say the remnant, will be converted to the mighty God.22Pues aunque tu pueblo, oh Israel, fuese como las arenas del mar, (solo) un resto se convertirá. La destrucción está decretada, desbordará la justicia. For though your people, O Israel, will be like the sand of the sea, yet only a remnant of them will be converted. The consummation, having been shortened, will be inundated with justice.23Pues el Señor, Yahvé de los ejércitos, va a cumplir la destrucción decretada en toda la tierra. For the Lord, the God of hosts, will accomplish an abbreviation and a consummation, in the midst of all the earth.24Por lo cual así dice el Señor, Yahvé de los ejércitos: “Pueblo mío, que habitas en Sión, no temas al asirio, que (ahora) te hiere con la vara y levanta contra ti su bastón a la manera de Egipto; For this reason, the Lord, the God of hosts, says this: “My people, who inhabit Zion: do not be afraid of Assur. He will strike you with his rod, and he will lift up his staff over you, on the way of Egypt.25porque dentro de muy poco tiempo llegará a su colmo mi ira, por cuanto mi furor los destruirá. But after a little while and a brief time, my indignation will be consumed, and my fury will turn to their wickedness.”26Yahvé de los ejércitos suscitará contra él un azote como cuando hirió a Madián, junto a la peña de Oreb; y (levantará) su vara sobre el mar, como la levantó contra Egipto. And the Lord of hosts will raise up a scourge over him, like the scourge of Midian at the rock of Oreb, and he will raise up his rod over the sea, and he will lift it up against the way of Egypt.27En aquel día será quitada su carga de tu hombro, y su yugo de sobre tu cerviz; se pudrirá el yugo a fuerza de grasa. And this shall be in that day: his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, and his yoke will be taken away from your neck, and the yoke will decay at the appearance of the oil.28Llegó ya (el asirio) a Ayat; pasa a Migrón; en Micmás deja su bagaje. He will approach Aiath; he will cross into Migron; he will entrust his vessels to Michmash.29Han pasado el desfiladero y plantado sus reales en Geba; Rama tiembla, Gabaá de Saúl se pone en fuga. They have passed through in haste; Geba is our seat; Ramah was stupefied; Gibeah of Saul fled.30Lanza gritos, oh hija de Gallim; escucha, Laís; ¡ay de Anatot! Neigh with your voice, daughter of Gallim; pay attention, Laishah, impoverished woman of Anathoth.31Madmená se dispersa, los habitantes de Gebim huyen. Madmenah has moved away; be strengthened, you inhabitants of Gebim.32Hoy todavía hace alto en Nob, y levanta la mano contra el monte de la hija de Sión, contra el monte de Jerusalén. It is still daylight, so stand at Nob. He will shake his hand against the mountain of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.33Pero, he aquí que el Señor, Yahvé de los ejércitos, cortará con estrépito el ramaje, los más elevados (de sus árboles) serán derribados, y los sublimes serán abatidos. Behold, the sovereign Lord of hosts will crush the little bottle of wine with terror, and the exalted in stature will be cut down, and the lofty will be brought low.34La espesura del bosque será cortada a hierro, y el Líbano caerá por mano de un poderoso. And the dense forest will be overturned with iron. And Lebanon, with its exalted ones, will fall.
