Isaías 13
1Oráculo contra Babilonia, que vio Isaías, hijo de Amós: The burden of Babylon which Isaiah, the son of Amoz, saw.2Sobre un monte pelado alzad bandera, levantad la voz para llamarlos, hacedles señas con la mano, para que entren por las puertas de los príncipes. Over the foggy mountain lift up a sign! Raise the voice, lift up the hand, and let the rulers enter through the gates!3He dado órdenes a mis consagrados; he llamado a mis valientes, para (ejecutar) mi ira; y ellos saltan de gozo por la gloria mía. In my wrath, I commanded my sanctified ones, and I called my strong ones, those who exult in my glory.4Se oye tumulto sobre los montes como tumulto de mucha gente; voces de alarma de reinos, de naciones reunidas. Yahvé de los ejércitos pasa revista a las tropas de guerra. On the mountains, there is the voice of a multitude, as if of a numerous people, a voice with the sound of kings, of nations gathered together. For the Lord of hosts has given orders to soldiers of war,5Vienen de tierra lejana, de los extremos del cielo; Yahvé y los instrumentos de su furor, para asolar la tierra entera. to those who are arriving from a far off land, from the heights of the heavens. It is the Lord and the instruments of his fury, so that he may bring ruin to all the earth.6¡Aullad, que cercano está el día de Yahvé! vendrá como ruina, de parte del Todopoderoso. Wail aloud! For the day of the Lord draws near! It will arrive like a devastation from the Lord.7Por tanto todos los brazos perderán su vigor, y todos los corazones de los hombres se derretirán. Because of it, every hand will fail, and every heart of man will waste away and be crushed.8Temblarán; convulsiones y dolores se apoderarán de ellos; se lamentarán como mujer parturienta. Cada uno mirará con estupor a su vecino, sus rostros serán rostros de llamas. Writhing and pain will seize them. They will be in pain, like a woman in labor. Each one will appear stupefied to his neighbor. Their countenances will be like faces which have been burned up.9He aquí que ha llegado el día de Yahvé, el inexorable, con furor e ira ardiente, para convertir la tierra en desierto y exterminar en ella a los pecadores. Behold, the day of the Lord approaches: a cruel day, full of indignation and wrath and fury, which will place the earth in solitude and crush the sinners from it.10Pues las estrellas del cielo y sus constelaciones no darán más su luz, el sol se oscurecerá al nacer, y la luna no hará resplandecer su luz. For the stars of the heavens, in their splendor, will not display their light. The sun will be obscured at its rising, and the moon will not shine in her brightness.11Entonces castigaré al mundo por su malicia, y a los impíos por su iniquidad; acabaré con la arrogancia de los soberbios y abatiré la altivez de los opresores. And I will act against the evils of the world, and against the impious for their iniquity. And I will cause the pride of the unfaithful to cease, and I will bring down the arrogance of the strong.12Haré que los hombres sean más escasos que el oro fino, y los hijos de Adán más raros que el oro de Ofir. A man will be more precious than gold, and mankind will become like pure refined gold.13Por eso sacudiré los cielos, y la tierra se moverá de su lugar, por el furor de Yahvé de los ejércitos, en el día de su ardiente ira. For this purpose, I will stir up heaven, and the earth will be moved from its place, because of the indignation of the Lord of hosts, because of the day of his furious wrath.14Entonces cual gacela perseguida, y como ovejas sin redil; se dirigirá cada uno a su pueblo, y huirá cada cual a su tierra. And they will be like a doe fleeing away, or like sheep; and there will be no one who may gather them together. Each one will turn to his own people, and every one will flee to his own land.15Todos cuantos fueren hallados serán traspasados, y todos los que cayeren presos morirán a cuchillo. All who are found will be killed, and all who are caught unaware will fall by the sword.16Sus niños serán estrellados ante sus ojos, saqueadas sus casas, y violadas sus mujeres. Their infants will be thrown down violently before their eyes. Their houses will be plundered, and their wives will be violated.17He aquí que suscitaré contra ellos a los medos que no buscan plata ni son codiciosos de oro. Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them. They will not seek silver, nor desire gold.18Con sus arcos matarán a los jóvenes, no tendrán piedad del fruto del seno, y sus ojos no se compadecerán de los niños. Instead, with their arrows, they will put the little children to death, and they will take no pity on breastfeeding women, and their eye will not spare their children.19Entonces Babilonia, la joya de los reinos, gloria y orgullo de los caldeos, vendrá a ser como Sodoma y Gomorra, (ciudades) destruidas por Dios. And then Babylon, the glorious one among kingdoms, that famous pride of the Chaldeans, will be destroyed, even as the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.20Nunca jamás será habitada, ni poblada de generación en generación; no alzará allí el nómada su tienda; ni harán en ella majada los pastores. It will not be inhabited, even unto the end, and it will not be reestablished, even from generation to generation. The Arab will not pitch his tents there, nor will the shepherds take rest there.21Se guarecerán allí las fieras del desierto; los búhos llenarán sus casas; se instalarán allí los avestruces, y los sátiros harán allí sus danzas. Instead, the wild beasts will rest there, and their houses will be filled with serpents, and ostriches will live there, and the hairy ones will leap about there.22En sus palacios aullarán los chacales, y los perros salvajes en sus casas de placer. Próximo a llegar está su tiempo, y sus días no se aplazarán. And the tawny owls will answer one another there, in its buildings, and the Sirens in its shrines of pleasure.
