Isaías 17
1Oráculo contra Damasco: “Damasco ha dejado de ser ciudad, no es más que un montón de escombros. The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus will cease to be a city, and it will be like a heap of stones in ruin.2Las ciudades abandonadas de Aroer serán para los rebaños, que tendrán allí sus apriscos sin que nadie los espante. The cities in ruin will be left for the flocks, and they will take rest there, and there will be no one who may terrify them.3Será quitada de Efraím la fortaleza, y de Damasco el reino, y será de los restos de Siria lo que de la gloria de los hijos de Israel —oráculo de Yahvé de los ejércitos. And assistance will cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom will cease from Damascus. And the remnant of Syria will be like the glory of the sons of Israel, says the Lord of hosts.4En aquel día enflaquecerá la gloria de Jacob, y decrecerá la gordura de su carne. And this shall be in that day: the glory of Jacob will be thinned, and the fatness of his flesh will be reduced.5Será como cuando el segador recoge la mies y su brazo corta las espigas; y como cuando se rebuscan espigas en el valle de Refaím: And it shall be like the gathering of the harvest which remains, and his arm will pick the ears of grain. And it shall be like a search for grain in the valley of Rephaim.6Quedará en él un rebusco, como cuando se varea el olivo; dos o tres aceitunas en la cima de la copa, cuatro o cinco en las ramas del árbol” —oráculo de Yahvé, el Dios de Israel. And what is left behind in it will be like one cluster of grapes, or like a shaken olive tree with two or three olives at the top of a branch, or like four or five olives at the top of a tree, says the Lord God of Israel.7En aquel día el hombre dirigirá la mirada hacia su Hacedor, y sus ojos mirarán al Santo de Israel, In that day, a man will bow before his Maker, and his eyes will consider the Holy One of Israel.8ya no mirará a los altares, obra de sus manos; no volverá la vista a lo que han hecho sus dedos, ni a las ascheras, ni a las imágenes del sol. And he will not bow before the altars that his hands have made. And he will not consider the things that his fingers have made, the sacred groves and the shrines.9En aquel día sus ciudades fortificadas serán como las ciudades abandonadas de los amorreos y heveos, que estos abandonaron a la llegada de los hijos de Israel; serán un desierto. In that day, his strong cities will be abandoned, like the plows and the grain fields which were left behind before the face of the sons of Israel, and you shall be deserted.10Olvidaste al Dios de tu salvación, y no te acordaste de la Roca de tu fortaleza; por eso te plantas jardines de deleite y siembras en ellos simiente extraña. For you have forgotten God your Savior, and you have not remembered your strong Helper. Because of this, you will plant trustworthy plants, but you will sow a foreign seed.11En el mismo día de plantarlas las ves crecer, y al día siguiente echar flores, pero la mies te escapará en el día aciago de la calamidad irremediable. In the day of your planting, the wild grapevine and your morning seed will flourish. The harvest has been taken away to the day of inheritance, and you will grieve heavily.12¡Qué estruendo de muchos pueblos, que braman como el bramido del mar! ¡Qué estrépito de naciones! Rugen como poderosas aguas. Woe to the multitude of many peoples, like the multitude of the roaring sea! Woe to the tumult of crowds, like the noise of many waters!13Como aguas inmensas rugen las naciones; pero Él las reprende, y huyen lejos. Se dispersan como el tamo sobre los montes al soplo del viento, y como un torbellino (de polvo) en la tempestad. The peoples will make a noise, like the noise of waters overflowing, but he will rebuke him, and so he will flee far away. And he will be quickly taken away, like the dust of the mountains before the face of the wind, and like a whirlwind before a tempest.14A la tarde habrá espanto, y antes de la mañana ya no existen. Este es el destino de los que nos saquean, esta la suerte de los que nos despojan. In the time of the evening, behold: there will be a disturbance. When it is early morning, he will not remain. This is the portion of those who have devastated us, and this is the lot of those who have plundered us.
