Isaías 18
1¡Ay de la tierra del zumbido de alas que está a la otra parte de los ríos de Etiopía; Woe to the land, that winged cymbal, which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia,2que envía embajadores por el mar y en barcos de papiro sobre las aguas! “Volved, veloces mensajeros, al pueblo de alta estatura y bruñida piel, al pueblo temible desde su principio y sin cesar, a la nación vigorosa e imperiosa, cuya tierra surcan los ríos.” which sends ambassadors by sea and in vessels of papyrus above the waters. Go forth, O swift Angels, to a nation which has been convulsed and torn apart, to a terrible people, after whom there is no other, to a nation apprehensive and downtrodden, whose land the rivers have spoiled.3Moradores todos del orbe, y habitantes de la tierra, cuando se alce la bandera sobre los montes, mirad, y cuando se toque la trompeta, escuchad. All inhabitants of the world, you who dwell upon the earth: when the sign will have been elevated on the mountains, you will see, and you will hear the blast of the trumpet.4Porque así me ha dicho Yahvé: “Me quedaré tranquilo, y miraré desde mi morada, como el calor sereno de la plena luz (del sol), como una nube de rocío en el ardor de la siega.” For the Lord says this to me: I will be quiet, and I will consider in my place, as the light at midday is clear, and as a cloud of dew in the day of the harvest.5Pues antes de la siega, cuando haya caído la flor, y los restos de la flor se estén convirtiendo en uva madura, corta Él las vides con la podadera, quita las ramas y las arranca. For before the harvest, all was flourishing. And it will spring forth with an untimely completion, and its little branches will be pruned with a curved blade. And what is left over will be cut away and shaken off.6Serán dejadas juntas a merced de las aves rapaces de los montes, y de las bestias de la tierra. Las aves de rapiña pasarán sobre ellos el verano, y todas las bestias del campo el invierno. And together they will be abandoned to the birds of the mountains and to the wild beasts of the earth. And the birds will be continuously on them in the summer, and all the wild beasts of the earth will winter over them.7En aquel tiempo será traída una ofrenda a Yahvé de los ejércitos, de parte de un pueblo de alta estatura y bruñida piel, de un pueblo temible desde su principio y sin cesar, de una nación vigorosa e imperiosa, cuya tierra surcan los ríos, al lugar del Nombre de Yahvé de los ejércitos, al monte Sión. In that time, a gift will be carried to the Lord of hosts, from a people divided and torn apart, from a terrible people, after whom there has been no other, from an apprehensive nation, apprehensive and downtrodden, whose land the rivers have ruined, and it will be carried to the place of the name of the Lord of hosts, to mount Zion.
