Isaías 28
1¡Ay de la corona de soberbia de los embriagados de Efraím, de la caduca flor de su magnífico ornato, que se alza sobre la cima del fértil valle de los ebrios de vino! Woe to the crown of arrogance, to the inebriated of Ephraim, and to the falling flower, the glory of his exultation, to those who were at the top of the very fat valley, staggering from wine.2He aquí que viene de Yahvé uno que es fuerte y poderoso, como tempestad de granizo, como huracán destructor, cual torrente de aguas poderosas que inundan, y este lo echará todo por tierra con violencia. Behold, the Lord is powerful and steadfast, like a storm of hail, like a crushing whirlwind, like the force of many waters, inundating, sent forth over a spacious land.3Con los pies será hollada la corona de soberbia de los embriagados de Efraím; The arrogant crown of the inebriated of Ephraim will be trampled underfoot.4y la caduca flor de su magnífico ornato que se alza sobre la cima del fértil valle, será como la breva temprana, (que madura) antes del verano: apenas uno la ve, la toma en la mano y se la come. And the falling flower, the glory of his exultation, who is at the summit of the fat valley, will be like a premature fruit before the ripeness of autumn, which, when the onlooker beholds it, as soon he takes it in his hand, he will devour it.5En aquel día Yahvé de los ejércitos será corona de gloria y brillante diadema para el resto de su pueblo; será espíritu de justicia para los sentados en el tribunal, y fortaleza para los vencedores en la puerta. In that day, the Lord of hosts will be the crown of glory and the wreath of exultation for the remnant of his people.6También estos se tambalean por el vino, andan extraviados a causa de las bebidas fuertes. And he will be the spirit of judgment for those who sit in judgment, and the strength of those who return from war to the gates.7El sacerdote y el profeta vacilan embriagados por los licores; el vino se los tragó; perdieron el seso por las bebidas fuertes; yerran en la visión, ignoran la justicia. Yet truly, these also have been ignorant due to wine, and they have gone astray due to inebriation. The priest and the prophet have been ignorant because of inebriation. They have been absorbed by wine. They have staggered in drunkenness. They have not known the One who sees. They have been ignorant of judgment.8Porque todas las mesas están cubiertas de vómito y de inmundicia; no hay ningún lugar (limpio). For all the tables have been filled with vomit and filth, so much so that there was no place left.9(Dicen): “¿A quién quiere este enseñar ciencia y dar la inteligencia de su mensaje? ¿Acaso a los destetados de leche? ¿A los arrancados de los pechos maternos? To whom will he teach knowledge? And to whom will he grant an understanding of what is heard? To those who have been weaned from the milk, who have been pulled away from the breasts.10Pues no hay más que precepto sobre precepto, precepto sobre precepto, regla sobre regla, regla sobre regla, un poco aquí, un poco allá.” So then: command, and command again; command, and command again; expect, and expect again; a little here, and a little there.11Sí, con labios de balbuciente en otra lengua hablará Yahvé a este pueblo. For with the speech of lips and with a different language, he will speak to this people.12Él les había dicho: “Aquí está el descanso; dejad descansar al cansado, y este es el refrigerio.” Mas no quisieron escuchar. He said to them: “This is my rest. Refresh the weary,” and, “This is my refreshment.” And yet they were unwilling to listen.13Por eso la palabra de Yahvé será para ellos: precepto sobre precepto, precepto sobre precepto, regla sobre regla, regla sobre regla, un poco aquí, un poco allá; a fin de que yendo adelante caigan hacia atrás, y sean quebrantados y presos en el lazo. And so, the word of the Lord to them will be: “Command, and command again; command, and command again; expect, and expect again; a little here, and a little there,” so that they may go forward and fall backward, and so that they may be broken and ensnared and captured.14Por tanto, escuchad la palabra de Yahvé, oh hombres burladores, los que gobernáis este pueblo que está en Jerusalén: Because of this, listen to the word of the Lord, you mocking men, who lord it over my people who are at Jerusalem.15Vosotros decís: “Hemos hecho pacto con la muerte, y convenio con el scheol; cuando pase el azote, cual torrente, no llegará a nosotros; porque nos hemos refugiado en la mentira, y la falsedad es nuestro abrigo.” For you have said: “We struck a deal with death, and we formed a pact with Hell. When the inundating scourge passes through, it will not overwhelm us. For we have placed our hope in lies, and we are protected by what is false.”16Por eso, así dice el Señor Yahvé: “He aquí que pondré en Sión por fundamento una piedra, piedra probada, piedra angular preciosa, sólidamente asentada; el que confía (en ella) no necesita huir. For this reason, thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will set a stone within the foundations of Zion, a tested stone, a cornerstone, a precious stone, which has been established in the foundation: whoever trusts in him need not hurry.17Y pondré el derecho por regla, y la justicia por plomada; el pedrisco barrerá el refugio de la mentira, y las aguas inundarán el escondrijo. And I will establish judgment in weights, and justice in measures. And a hailstorm will overturn hope in what is false; and waters will inundate its protection.18Vuestro pacto con la muerte será anulado, y vuestro convenio con el scheol no subsistirá más; cuando pase el azote, cual torrente, seréis aplastados por él. And your deal with death will be abolished, and your pact with Hell will not stand. When the inundating scourge passes through, you will be trampled down by it.19Siempre que pase, os arrastrará consigo; porque pasará todas las mañanas, de día y de noche, y el solo entender lo que se oye será un espanto. Whenever it passes through, it will take you away. For, at first light of morning, it will pass through, in the day and in the night, and vexation alone will make you understand what you hear.20Porque la cama será demasiado corta para estirarse, y la cubierta demasiado estrecha para poder envolverse.” For the bed has been narrowed, so much so that one alone would fall out, and the short blanket is not able to cover two.21Pues Yahvé se levantará como en el monte Perasim, y como en el valle de Gabaón se irritará, para cumplir su obra, su obra extraordinaria, para ejecutar su trabajo, su trabajo asombroso. For the Lord will stand, just as at the mountain of divisions. He will be angry, just as in the valley which is in Gibeon, so that he may accomplish his work, his strange work, so that he may complete his work, his work which is foreign even to him.22Entonces no seáis burladores; de lo contrario se apretarán todavía más vuestras ligaduras; porque la destrucción está decretada, así lo tengo oído, de parte del Señor Yahvé de los ejércitos, contra toda la tierra. And now, do not be willing to mock, lest your chains be tightened. For I have heard, from the Lord, the God of hosts, about the consummation and the abridgement concerning the entire earth.23Prestad atención y oíd mi voz; atended y escuchad mi palabra. Pay close attention, and listen to my voice! Attend and hear my eloquence!24¿Acaso para sembrar el arador está siempre arando, abriendo y rastrillando su campo? Would the plowman, after plowing all day so that he may sow, instead cut open and hoe his soil?25Después de allanar su superficie, ¿acaso no esparce el eneldo, siembra el comino, pone el trigo en los surcos, la cebada en su lugar, y la espelta en el borde? Will he not, when he has made the surface level, sow coriander, and scatter cumin, and plant wheat in rows, and barley, and millet, and vetch in their places?26Es Dios quien le enseña esta regla y le instruye. For he will be instructed in judgment; his God will teach him.27Pues no con el trillo se trilla el eneldo, ni rueda de carro pasa sobre el comino; sino que el eneldo es sacudido con un bastón, y el comino con una vara. For coriander cannot be threshed with a saw, and a cartwheel cannot revolve over cumin. Instead, coriander is shaken out with a stick, and cumin with a staff.28El trigo, en cambio, es trillado, pero no se lo trilla continuamente; y aunque (el labrador) hace pasar sobre él las ruedas de su carro y sus caballos, sin embargo no lo tritura. But grain for bread must be crushed. Truly, the thresher cannot thresh it unceasingly, and the cartwheel can neither disrupt it, nor break it with its surface.29También esto viene de Yahvé de los ejércitos, el cual es admirable en sus designios y grande en sabiduría. And this has gone forth from the Lord, the God of hosts, so that he may accomplish his miraculous plan and magnify justice.
