Isaías 37
1Cuando lo oyó el rey Exequias, rasgó sus vestidos, se cubrió con saco y entró en la Casa de Yahvé. And it happened that, when king Hezekiah had heard this, he rent his garments, and he wrapped himself in sackcloth, and he entered the house of the Lord.2Y envió a Eliaquim, prefecto del palacio, y a Sobná secretario, y a los ancianos de los sacerdotes, cubiertos con saco, al profeta Isaías, hijo de Amós, And he sent Eliakim, who was over the house, and Shebna, the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah, the son of Amoz, the prophet.3al cual dijeron: “Así dice Ezequías: Día de tribulación, de castigo y de oprobio es este; porque los hijos han llegado a punto de nacer, pero falta fuerza para darlos a luz. And they said to him: “Thus says Hezekiah: This day is a day of tribulation, and of rebuke, and of blasphemy. For the sons have arrived at the time for birth, but there is not enough strength to bring them forth.4Tal vez repare Yahvé, tu Dios, en las palabras de Rabsacés, enviado por su señor, el rey de Asiria, para insultar al Dios vivo, y castigue las palabras que ha oído Yahvé, tu Dios. Interpón tus súplicas por el resto que aún subsiste.” Perhaps, somehow, the Lord your God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of the Assyrians, his lord, has sent to blaspheme the living God, and will rebuke the words that the Lord your God has heard. Therefore, lift up your prayers on behalf of the remnant which has been left behind.”5Fueron entonces los servidores del rey Ezequías a Isaías; And so the servants of king Hezekiah went to Isaiah.6e Isaías respondió: “Decid esto a vuestro señor: Así dice Yahvé: No te asustes por las palabras que has oído, con las cuales han blasfemado de Mí los siervos del rey de Asiria. And Isaiah said to them: “You shall say this to your lord: Thus says the Lord: Do not be afraid to face the words that you have heard, by which the servants of the king of the Assyrians blasphemed me.7Mira, Yo pondré en él un espíritu tal, que al oír cierta noticia se volverá a su país, y le haré caer a espada en su misma tierra.” Behold, I will send a spirit to him, and he will hear a message, and he will return to his own land. And I will cause him to fall by the sword, in his own land.”8Entretanto Rabsacés se marchó, y halló al rey de Asiria atacando a Libná; pues supo que (el rey) se había retirado de Laquís, Then Rabshakeh returned, and he found the king of the Assyrians fighting against Libnah. For he had heard that he had set out from Lachish.9donde recibió una noticia respecto de Tirhaca, rey de Etiopía (que decía): “Ha salido (Tirhaca) para hacerte la guerra.” Al oír esto envió mensajeros a Ezequías, diciendo: And he heard from Tirhakah, the king of Ethiopia: “He has gone forth so that he may fight against you.” And when he had heard this, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying:10“Hablad a Ezequías, rey de Judá de esta manera: No te engañe tu Dios, en quien confías, diciendo: Jerusalén no será entregada en manos del rey de Asiria. “You shall say this to Hezekiah, the king of Judah, saying: Do not let your God, in whom you trust, deceive you by saying: ‘Jerusalem will not be given into the hands of the king of the Assyrians.’11He aquí que oíste lo que han hecho los reyes de Asiria a todos los países, cómo los destruyeron completamente; ¿y tú crees poder salvarte? Behold, you have heard about all that the kings of the Assyrians have done to all the lands that they have conquered, and so, how can you be delivered?12¿Salvaron acaso sus dioses a las naciones que destruyeron mis padres, a Gozan, Harán, Résef y los hijos de Edén, que vivían en Talasar? Have the gods of the nations rescued those whom my fathers have conquered: Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the sons of Eden who were at Telassar?13¿Dónde está el rey de Hamat, y el rey de Arpad, y el rey de la ciudad de Sefarvaim, de Hená y de Iva?” Where is the king of Hamath and the king of Arpad, or the king of the city of Sepharvaim, or of Hena and Ivvah?”14Recibió Ezequías esta carta de manos de los mensajeros, y luego de leerla subió a la Casa de Yahvé, donde la desplegó delante de Yahvé. And Hezekiah took the letter from the hand of the messengers, and he read it, and he went up to the house of the Lord, and Hezekiah spread it out in the sight of the Lord.15E imploró Ezequías a Yahvé con estas palabras: And Hezekiah prayed to the Lord, saying:16“Oh Yahvé de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel, que habitas sobre los querubines, Tú eres el solo Dios de todos los reinos de la tierra; Tú has hecho el cielo y la tierra. “O Lord of hosts, the God of Israel who sits upon the Cherubim: you alone are God of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.17Inclina, oh Yahvé, tus oídos y oye; abre, oh Yahvé, tus ojos y mira; y repara en todas las palabras que Senaquerib ha enviado para blasfemar contra el Dios vivo. O Lord, incline your ear and listen. O Lord, open your eyes and see. And hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to blaspheme the living God.18Es verdad, oh Yahvé, que los reyes de Asiria devastaron todas las naciones y sus países, For truly, O Lord, the kings of the Assyrians have laid waste to countries and territories.19y que arrojaron sus dioses al fuego, porque no eran dioses, sino hechura de mano de hombres, madera y piedra, y así los pudieron destruir. And they have cast their gods into the fire. For these were not gods, but the works of men’s hands, of wood and of stone. And they broke them into pieces.20Sálvanos ahora, oh Yahvé, Dios nuestro, de su poder; y conozcan todos los reinos de la tierra que Tú solo eres el Señor.” And now, O Lord our God, save us from his hand. And let all the kingdoms of the earth acknowledge that you alone are Lord.”21Entonces Isaías, hijo de Amós, envió a decir a Ezequías: “Merced a tu oración respecto de Senaquerib, rey de Asiria, Yahvé, Dios de Israel, ha hablado, And Isaiah, the son of Amoz, sent to Hezekiah, saying: “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Because of what you have prayed to me about Sennacherib, the king of the Assyrians,22y he aquí el oráculo que Yahvé ha pronunciado contra él: Te desprecia, se ríe de ti la virgen, hija de Sión, detrás de ti menea su cabeza la hija de Jerusalén. this is the word that the Lord has spoken over him: The virgin daughter of Zion has despised you and mocked you. The daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you.23¿A quién has insultado y ultrajado? ¿Contra quién has alzado la voz y levantado en alto tus ojos? ¡Contra el Santo de Israel! Whom have you insulted? And whom have you blasphemed? And against whom have you lifted up your voice and raised up your eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel!24Por medio de tus siervos has insultado al Señor, pues dijiste: «Con mis numerosos carros subí a la cumbre de los montes, hasta los últimos rincones del Líbano, corté sus empinados cedros, y los más escogidos de sus abetos; llegué a su más alta cima, al más denso de sus bosques. By the hand of your servants, you have reproached the Lord. And you have said: ‘With a multitude of my four-horse chariots, I have ascended the heights of the mountains adjoining Lebanon. And I will cut down its lofty cedars and its choice pine trees. And I will reach the top of its summit, to the forest of its Carmel.25He cavado y bebido agua, y he secado con las plantas de mis pies todos los ríos de Egipto.» I dug deep, and I drank water, and I dried up all the river banks with the sole of my foot.’26¿No has oído tú que desde antiguo dispuse Yo estas cosas? En tiempos remotos las he trazado, y ahora las estoy ejecutando: tú tienes que causar desolaciones, haciendo de ciudades fortificadas montones de ruinas. Have you not heard what I have done to it in past times? In ancient times, I formed it. And now I have brought it forth. And it has been made so that the hills and the fortified cities would fight together, unto its destruction.27Sus habitantes no tienen fuerza, están amedrentados y despavoridos; son como la hierba del campo y la verdura tierna, como la grama de los tejados, y como los campos secos antes de la cosecha. Their inhabitants had unsteady hands. They trembled and were confused. They became like the plants of the field, and the grass of the pastures, and like the weeds on the rooftops, which wither before they are mature.28Yo sé dónde te asientas, Yo conozco tu salida y tu entrada, y también tu furor contra Mí. I know your habitation, and your arrival, and your departure, and your madness against me.29A causa de tu furor contra Mí, y por tu arrogancia que ha llegado a mis oídos, pondré mi anillo en tu nariz, y mi freno en tus labios, y te haré retornar por el camino por donde viniste. When you became angry against me, your arrogance rose up to my ears. Therefore, I will place a ring in your nose, and a bit between your lips. And I will turn you back on the road by which you arrived.30Y esta será para ti la señal: Este año comeréis lo que naciere de los granos caídos, al año segundo lo que creciere sin sembrar; más al tercer año, sembrad y segad, plantad viñas y comed sus frutos. But this shall be a sign for you: Eat, in this year, whatever springs up on its own. And in the second year, eat fruits. But in the third year, sow and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat their fruit.31El resto que se salvare de la casa de Judá, echará de nuevo raíces hacia abajo, y llevará fruto por arriba. And what will be saved from the house of Judah, and what is left behind, will form deep roots, and will bear high fruits.32Porque de Jerusalén saldrá un resto, y del monte Sión algunos escapados. Esto hará el celo de Yahvé de los ejércitos. For from Jerusalem, a remnant shall go forth, and salvation from mount Zion. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.33Por tanto, esto dice Yahvé del rey de Asiria: “No entrará en esta ciudad, ni disparará allí saeta: no avanzará contra ella con escudo, ni la rodeará de baluartes. For this reason, thus says the Lord about the king of the Assyrians: He will not enter this city, nor shoot an arrow into it, nor overtake it with a shield, nor dig a rampart all around it.34Por el camino que vino se volverá, y no entrará en esta ciudad.” Oráculo de Yahvé. He will return on the road by which he arrived. And into this city, he will not enter, says the Lord.35Yo protegeré esta ciudad para salvarla, por mi propia causa, y por amor a mi siervo David.” And I will protect this city, so that I may save it for my own sake, and for the sake of David, my servant.”36Y salió el ángel de Yahvé, e hirió en el campamento de los asirios ciento ochenta y cinco mil hombres. Y a la hora de levantarse, al amanecer, he aquí que todos ellos eran cadáveres. Then the Angel of the Lord went forth and struck down, in the camp of the Assyrians, one hundred eighty-five thousand. And they arose in the morning, and behold, all these were dead bodies.37Entonces Senaquerib, rey de Asiria, levantó el campamento, se puso en marcha y se volvió a Nínive, donde habitó. And Sennacherib, the king of the Assyrians, departed and went away. And he returned and lived at Nineveh.38Y aconteció que mientras adoraba en la casa de Nesroc, dios suyo, Adramélec y Sarasar, sus hijos, le mataron a espada. Escaparon ellos al país de Ararat, y le sucedió en el reino su hijo Asarhaddón. And it happened that, as he was adoring his god in the temple of Nisroch, his sons, Adramelech and Sharezer, struck him with the sword. And they fled into the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon, his son, reigned in his place.
