Isaías 41
1Enmudeced en mi presencia, oh islas, y los pueblos reanimen sus fuerzas. Acérquense, y después hablen; entremos juntos en juicio. Let the islands be silent before me, and let the nations take new strength. Let them draw near, and then speak. Let us apply for judgment together.2¿Quién llamó del Oriente al justo para que siguiese sus pasos? ¿Quién le entregó naciones, y le sometió reyes? Él reduce su espada a polvo, y su arco a paja, que arrebata el viento. Who has raised up a just man from the east, and has called him to follow him? He will place the nations under his gaze, and he will rule over kings. He will cause them to be like dust before his sword, like chaff driven by the wind before his bow.3Los persigue, y avanza sin peligro por una senda que sus pies jamás han pisado. He will pursue them. He will pass by in peace. No trace will appear after his feet.4¿Quién hizo esto? ¿Quién lo ha realizado? El que llamó las generaciones desde el principio: Yo, Yahvé, que soy el primero Y estaré también con los últimos. Who has worked and accomplished these things, calling to the generations from the beginning? “It is I, the Lord! I am the first and the last.”5Lo ven las islas y tiemblan; se llenan de temor los confines de la tierra; se acercan y vienen. The islands saw it and were afraid. The ends of the earth were stupefied. They drew near and arrived.6Ayuda el uno al otro y dice a su compañero: “¡Esfuérzate!” Each one will help his neighbor and will say to his brother, “Be strengthened.”7El artífice anima al orfebre, y el que desbasta con el martillo al que bate en el yunque, dice de la soldadura: “Bien hecha está”; y la sujeta con clavos, para que no se mueva. The coppersmith striking with the mallet encouraged him who was forging at that time, saying, “It is ready for soldering.” And he strengthened it with nails, so that it would not be moved.8Mas tú, oh Israel, siervo mío, y tú, oh Jacob, a quien he escogido, de la estirpe de Abrahán, mi amigo; But you, O Israel, are my servant, O Jacob, whom I have chosen, the offspring of my friend Abraham.9tú, a quien he sacado de los extremos de la tierra, llamándote de los cabos de ella, y diciéndote: Tú eres mi siervo; Yo te he escogido, y no te he desechado. For his sake, I have taken you from the ends of the earth, and I have called you from its distant places. And I said to you: “You are my servant. I have chosen you, and I have not cast you aside.”10No temas, que Yo estoy contigo; no desmayes, que Yo soy tu Dios; Yo te he dado fuerza y te ayudo; te sostengo con la diestra de mi justicia. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not turn away, for I am your God. I have strengthened you, and I have assisted you, and the right hand of my just one has upheld you.11Confundidos quedarán y avergonzados todos los que contra ti se irritan, serán como la nada, y perecerán los que te hacen guerra. Behold, all who fight against you shall be confounded and ashamed. They will be as if they did not exist, and the men who contradict you will perish.12Buscarás, y no hallarás a los que te combaten; serán como nada y como reducidos al polvo los que pelean contigo. You will seek them, and you will not find them. The men who rebel against you will be as if they did not exist. And the men who make war against you will be like something that has been consumed.13Pues Yo, Yahvé, tu Dios, soy quien te tomo por la diestra, y te digo: No temas, Yo soy tu auxiliador. For I am the Lord your God. I take you by your hand, and I say to you: Do not be afraid. I have helped you.14No temas, gusanillo de Jacob, ni vosotros, oh hombres de Israel. Yo soy tu auxilio, dice Yahvé; y tu redentor es el Santo de Israel. Fear not, O worm of Jacob, you who are dead within Israel. I have helped you, says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.15He aquí, Yo haré de ti un trillo cortante nuevo, armado de dientes. Trillarás los montes y los desmenuzarás, y reducirás como a tamo los collados. I have established you like a new threshing cart, having serrated blades. You will thresh the mountains and crush them. And you will turn the hills into chaff.16Los aventarás, y el viento se los llevará, y los esparcirá el torbellino; pero tú te alegrarás en Yahvé, te gloriarás en el Santo de Israel. You will winnow them, and the wind will blow them away, and the whirlwind will scatter them. And you shall exult in the Lord; you shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.17Los desdichados y pobres buscan agua y no la hay, su lengua esta seca por la sed; más Yo, Yahvé, los escucharé; Yo, el Dios de Israel, no los desampararé. The indigent and the poor are seeking water, but there is none. Their tongue has been dried up by thirst. I, the Lord, will heed them. I, the God of Israel, will not abandon them.18Les abriré ríos en los altos montes, y fuentes en medio de los valles; convertiré el desierto en estanque, y la tierra árida en corrientes de agua. I will open rivers in the high hills, and fountains in the midst of the plains. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the impassable land into streams of water.19En el despoblado plantaré cedros y acacias, mirtos y olivos; y en el yermo pondré abetos, olmos y bojes juntamente; I will plant the cedar in a deserted place, with the thorn, and the myrtle, and the olive tree. In the desert, I will plant the pine, and the elm, and the box tree together,20para que vean y conozcan y atiendan y comprendan todos que la mano de Yahvé ha hecho esto, y el Santo de Israel lo ha creado. so that they may see and know, acknowledge and understand, together, that the hand of the Lord has accomplished this, and that the Holy One of Israel has created it.21Venid a defender vuestra causa, dice Yahvé; alegad vuestras razones, dice el Rey de Jacob. Bring your case forward, says the Lord. Bring it here, if you have anything to allege, says the King of Jacob.22Que nos enseñen y anuncien lo que ha de suceder. Explicad cómo fueron las cosas pasadas, para que las contemplemos y reconozcamos su cumplimiento; o indicadnos las cosas futuras. Let them approach and announce to us the things that will occur. Announce to us the things that were before. And we will apply our heart to them, and we will know their end. And so, reveal to us the things that will occur.23Anunciad lo que ha de venir, para que sepamos que sois dioses; haced algo, sea bueno o malo, para que viéndolo todos quedemos asombrados. Announce the things that will occur in the future, and we will know that you are gods. Likewise, accomplish good or evil, if you are able, and let us speak of it and see it together.24Pero vosotros sois menos que la nada, y vuestra obra menos que lo vacío. ¡Abominable aquel que os escoge! Behold, you exist out of nothing, and your work is from what does not exist; he who has chosen you is an abomination.25Yo he suscitado a uno del norte, y ya llega; uno (que viene) desde el oriente e invoca mi nombre; que pisa a los príncipes como si fuesen lodo y como el alfarero pisa el barro. I have raised up one from the north, and he will arrive from the rising of the sun. He will call upon my name, and he will reduce magistrates to mud, like a potter working with clay.26¿Quién anunció esto desde el principio, para que lo sepamos; y anticipadamente, para que digamos: “Es justo”? Mas nadie lo anunció; nadie lo dio a conocer; nadie oyó vuestras palabras. Who has announced this from its rising, so that we may know it, or from its beginning, so that we may say, “You are just.” There is no one who either announces, or predicts, or hears your words.27Yo soy el primero que anuncié a Sión: “Helos aquí”, y mandé a Jerusalén un portador de buenas nuevas. The first one will say to Zion: “Behold, they are here,” and to Jerusalem, “I will present an evangelist.”28Estuve mirando y no hubo nadie, entre ellos no hay ningún consejero; si les pregunto, no responden palabra. And I saw, and there was no one among any of them to consult, or who, when I asked, could answer a word.29Ved, pues, que todos son una nada, y vanas todas sus obras. Viento y vanidad son sus ídolos. Behold, they are all unjust, and their works are empty. Their idols are wind and emptiness.
