Isaías 59
1He aquí que la mano de Yahvé no es tan corta para que no pueda salvar, ni tan sordo su oído para que no pueda oír; Behold, the hand of the Lord has not been shortened, so that it cannot save, and his ear has not been blocked, so that it cannot hear.2sino que vuestras iniquidades os han separado de vuestro Dios, y vuestros pecados han hecho que Él oculte de vosotros su rostro para no oíros. But your iniquities have made a division between you and your God, and your sins have concealed his face from you, so that he would not hear.3Porque vuestras manos están manchadas de sangre, y de iniquidad vuestros dedos; vuestros labios profieren mentira, y vuestras lenguas dicen maldades. For your hands have been polluted by blood, and your fingers by iniquity. Your lips have spoken lies, and your tongue utters iniquity.4No hay quien clame por la justicia, ni juzgue con verdad. Confían en vanidad y hablan perversidad, conciben maldad y dan a luz iniquidad. There is no one who calls for justice, and there is no one who judges truly. For they trust in nothing, and they speak emptiness. They have conceived hardship, and they have given birth to iniquity.5Empollan huevos de áspid, y tejen telas de araña; el que come de sus huevos muere, y si un huevo se rompe, sale un basilisco. They have ruptured the eggs of asps, and they have woven the webs of spiders. Whoever will eat of their eggs will die. For what has been incubated will hatch into a king snake.6Sus tejidos no sirven para vestidos; no pueden vestirse con lo que tejen, pues sus obras son obras de maldad, y en sus manos llevan violencia. Their weavings will not be for clothing, nor will they cover themselves with their handiwork. Their works are useless things, and the work of iniquity is in their hands.7Sus pies corren tras el mal, y se apresuran a derramar sangre inocente; sus pensamientos son pensamientos de iniquidad, desolación y ruina hay a lo largo de sus senderos. Their feet run to evil, and they rush to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are useless thoughts; devastation and destruction are in their ways.8No conocen la senda de la paz, ni hay justicia en sus caminos, tuercen sus sendas; quien anda por ellos no conoce la paz. They have not known the way of peace, and there is no judgment in their steps. Their paths have become crooked for them. Anyone who treads in them knows no peace.9Por eso la rectitud está lejos de nosotros, y no nos encuentra la justicia, esperamos la luz, mas he aquí tinieblas; la claridad del día, y caminamos a oscuras. Because of this, judgment is far from us, and justice will not take hold of us. We waited for light, and behold, darkness; we waited for brightness, and we walked in darkness.10Palpamos la pared como ciegos; andamos a tientas como los que no tienen ojos; tropezamos en pleno día como si fuera de noche, estamos en lugares oscuros como muertos. We groped for the wall, like one who is blind, and we felt our way, like one without eyes. We stumbled at midday, as if in darkness; and in darkness, as if in death.11Gruñimos todos como osos, y como palomas gemimos sin cesar; esperamos en la justicia, y no aparece; en la salvación, que queda lejos de nosotros. We will all roar like bears, and we will sigh like despondent doves. We hoped for judgment, and there is none; for salvation, and it is far from us.12Pues son numerosos nuestros pecados delante de Ti, y nuestras iniquidades dan testimonio contra nosotros; porque nuestros pecados están delante de nosotros, y conocemos nuestras iniquidades: For our iniquities have been multiplied in your sight, and our sins have answered us. For our wickedness is with us, and we have acknowledged our iniquities:13que hemos pecado y renegado de Yahvé, que nos hemos retirado de nuestro Dios, que hemos hablado palabras violentas y rebeldes, que concebimos mentiras y las proferimos de nuestro corazón. sinning and lying against the Lord. And we have turned away, not so as to go after our God, and so that we were speaking calumny and transgression. We have conceived, and spoken from the heart, words of falsehood.14Por esto se ha retirado la rectitud, y la justicia se mantiene lejos; porque la verdad tropieza en la plaza, y la rectitud no halla entrada. And judgment has been turned backwards, and justice has stood far away. For truth has fallen down in the street, and fairness was not able to enter.15La lealtad ha sido desterrada, y es tratado como presa el que se aleja del mal. Yahvé lo vio, y no le gustó que ya no hubiese justicia. And the truth has gone into oblivion. And he who withdraws from evil endures plunder. And the Lord saw this, and it seemed evil in his eyes. For there is no judgment.16Vio que no había hombre (justo), y se asombró de que nadie intercediera. Entonces le ayudó su propio brazo, y se apoyó en su justicia. And he saw that there was no good man. And he was astonished that there was no one to meet him. And his own arm brought salvation to him, and his own justice strengthened him.17Se revistió de justicia, como de una coraza, y (se puso) en la cabeza el yelmo de la salvación, se cubrió de vestiduras de venganza, y se envolvió en celo como en un manto. He clothed himself with justice as with a breastplate, and with a helmet of salvation upon his head. He put on the vestments of vengeance, and he was covered with zeal as with a cloak.18Como las obras así la retribución; ira para sus adversarios, el pago correspondiente a sus enemigos; hasta las islas recibirán su merecido. This was for vindication, as a repayment of indignation to his adversaries, and as a sudden reversal for his enemies. He will repay the islands in their turn.19Entonces temerán desde el occidente el nombre de Yahvé, y desde el nacimiento del sol su gloria; porque vendrá cual río impetuoso, impelido por el Espíritu de Yahvé. And those from the west will fear the name of the Lord, and those from the rising of the sun will fear his glory, when he arrives like a violent river, which the Spirit of the Lord urges on.20Vendrá como Libertador de Sión, para (redimir) a los de Jacob que se conviertan del pecado, dice Yahvé. And the Redeemer will arrive in Zion, and to those who return from the iniquity within Jacob, says the Lord.21Y en cuanto a Mí, este será mi pacto con ellos, dice Yahvé: “Mi Espíritu que está sobre ti, y mis palabras que puse Yo en tu boca, no se apartarán de tu boca, ni de la boca de tus hijos, ni de la boca de los hijos de tus hijos, dice Yahvé, desde ahora y para siempre.” This is my pact with them, says the Lord. My Spirit is within you, and my words, which I have put in your mouth, will not withdraw from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your offspring, nor from the mouth of your offspring’s offspring, says the Lord, from this moment, and even forever.
