Isaías 5
1Cantaré ahora a mi amado un canto, la canción de mi amado acerca de su viña. Tenía mi amado una viña en un collado muy fértil. I will sing to my beloved the canticle of my paternal cousin, about his vineyard. A vineyard was made for my beloved, at the horn in the son of oil.2La cavó y la despedregó, la plantó de cepas escogidas, y edificó en medio de ella una torre, y también un lagar, y esperó que diese uvas, pero dio agraces. And he fenced it in, and he picked the stones out of it, and he planted it with the best vines, and he built a tower in the middle of it, and he set up a winepress within it. And he expected it to produce grapes, but it produced wild vines.3Ahora, pues, habitantes de Jerusalén y hombres de Judá, juzgad entre mí y mi viña. Now then, inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah: judge between me and my vineyard.4¿Qué más había de hacer yo por mi viña que no le hiciera? ¿Por qué mientras esperaba que diese uvas, dio agraces? What more should I have done for my vineyard that I did not do for it? Should I not have expected it to produce grapes, though it produced wild vines?5Ahora voy a deciros lo que haré con mi viña: Le quitaré su seto, y será talada, derribaré su muro, y será hollada. And now, I will reveal to you what I will do to my vineyard. I will take away its fence, and it will be plundered. I will pull down its wall, and it will be trampled.6Haré de ella una desolación y no será podada ni cultivada; brotarán allí zarzas y espinas; y mandaré que las nubes no lluevan sobre ella. And I will make it desolate. It will not be pruned, and it will not be dug. And briers and thorns will rise up. And I will command the clouds not to rain upon it.7Pues la viña de Yahvé de los ejércitos es la casa de Israel, y los hombres de Judá son el plantío de su deleite. Esperaba de ellos rectitud, y no veo más que derramamiento de sangre; justicia, y he aquí que no hay más que gritos de dolor. For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel. And the man of Judah is his delightful seedling. And I expected that he would do judgment, and behold iniquity, and that he would do justice, and behold an outcry.8¡Ay de los que juntan casa con casa, campo con campo, hasta que no queda más terreno y vosotros sois los únicos habitantes en medio del país! Woe to you who join house to house, and who combine field to field, even to the limits of the place! Do you intend to live alone in the midst of the earth?9Ha llegado a mis oídos (esta palabra) de Yahvé de los ejércitos: “Estas numerosas casas serán convertidas en ruinas, y por grandes y hermosas que sean, quedarán sin moradores.” These things are in my ears, says the Lord of hosts. Otherwise, many houses, great and beautiful, will become desolate, without an inhabitant.10Porque diez yugadas de viña producirán solamente un bat, y un hómer de semilla no dará más que un efa. Then ten acres of vineyard will produce one small bottle of wine, and thirty measures of seed will produce three measures of grain.11¡Ay de los que se levantan muy de mañana para correr tras bebidas que embriagan, y que siguen bebiendo hasta la noche, hasta que los enciende el vino! Woe to you who rise up in the morning to pursue drunkenness, and to drink even until evening, so as to be inflamed with wine.12En sus banquetes hay cítaras, liras, tamboriles y flautas y vinos, y no miran la obra de Yahvé ni ven las obras de sus manos. Harp and lyre and timbrel and pipe, as well as wine, are at your feasts. But you do not respect the work of the Lord, nor do you consider the works of his hands.13Por eso mi pueblo será llevado al cautiverio sin darse cuenta; sus nobles morirán de hambre, y su multitud se abrasará de sed. Because of this, my people have been led away as captives, for they did not have knowledge, and their nobles have passed away from famine, and their multitudes have dried up from thirst.14Por eso el scheol ensanchará sus fauces y abrirá sin medida su boca. Descenderá allí la gloria de (Jerusalén) y su multitud turbulenta que se regocija en ella. For this reason, Hell has expanded its soul, and has opened its mouth without any limits. And their strong ones, and their people, and their exalted and glorious ones will descend into it.15Será humillado todo hombre, serán abatidos todos los mortales y bajados los ojos altivos; And man will be bowed down, and man will be humbled, and the eyes of the exalted will be brought low.16mas Yahvé de los ejércitos será grande en el juicio, y el Dios Santo mostrará su santidad por la justicia. And the Lord of hosts will be exalted in judgment, and the holy God will be sanctified in justice.17Corderos pacerán allí como si fuese su pastizal, y los extranjeros devorarán los devastados campos de los ricos. And the lambs will pasture in proper order, and new arrivals will eat from the deserts turned into fertile lands.18¡Ay de los que arrastran la iniquidad con cuerdas de vanidad, y el pecado como con coyundas de carro; Woe to you who draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and who draw sin as if with the rope of a cart,19y dicen: “Dese prisa; que haga presto su obra, para que la veamos; acérquese y tome cuerpo el plan del Santo de Israel, para que lo conozcamos!” and who say: “Let him hurry, and let his work arrive soon, so that we may see it. And let the plan of the Holy One of Israel approach and arrive, so that we may know it.”20¡Ay de los que al mal llaman bien y al bien mal, que ponen tinieblas por luz, y luz por tinieblas; que dan lo amargo por dulce, y lo dulce por amargo! Woe to you who call evil good, and good evil; who substitute darkness for light, and light for darkness; who exchange bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!21¡Ay de los que son sabios a sus propios ojos, y prudentes ante sí mismos! Woe to you who are wise in your own eyes, and prudent in your own sight!22¡Ay de los que son héroes para beber vino, y valientes para mezclar bebidas embriagadoras, Woe to you who are powerful at drinking wine, who are strong men in contriving inebriation!23que por un regalo absuelven al malhechor y privan a los justos de su derecho! For you justify an impious man in exchange for bribes, and you carry away the justice of a just man from him.24Por eso, como la lengua del fuego devora la paja, y como la llama consume la hierba seca, así su raíz será como podredumbre, y su flor será arrebatada como el polvo, por cuanto han rechazado a ley de Yahvé de los ejércitos, y despreciado la palabra del Santo de Israel. Because of this, as the tongue of fire devours stubble, and as the heat of a flame burns it completely, so will their root become like glowing embers, and so will their offshoot ascend like dust. For they have cast aside the law of the Lord of hosts, and they have blasphemed the eloquence of the Holy One of Israel.25Por eso se ha encendido la ira de Yahvé contra su pueblo, y extendió contra él su mano y lo hirió, por eso tiemblan los montes, y sus cadáveres yacen en las calles como basura. Con todo esto no se ha aplacado su ira; aún está extendida su mano. For this reason, the fury of the Lord has been enraged against his people, and he has extended his hand over them, and he has struck them. And the mountains were disturbed. And their carcasses became like dung in the midst of the streets. After all this, his fury was not turned away; instead, his hand was still extended.26Él alzará una bandera para pueblos lejanos, y los llamará con un silbo desde los fines de la tierra; y he aquí que vendrán pronto y apresuradamente. And he will lift up a sign to nations far away, and he will whistle to them from the ends of the earth. And behold, they will rush forward speedily.27Entre ellos no hay cansado ni quien tropiece; ningún soñoliento, ningún dormilón; no se desata de sus lomos el cinturón, ni se rompe la correa de su calzado; There is no one weak or struggling among them. They will not become drowsy, and they will not sleep. Neither will the belt around their waist be loosened, nor the laces of their boots be broken.28sus saetas son agudas, y tensos están todos sus arcos; los cascos de sus caballos son como pedernal, y las ruedas de sus carros como el torbellino. Their arrows are sharp, and all their bows are taut. The hoofs of their horses are like flint, and their wheels are like the force of a tempest.29Braman como león, rugen como leoncillo, que gruñe y agarra la presa, y se la lleva, sin que nadie se la quite. Their roaring is like the lion; they will roar like young lions. They will both roar and seize their prey. And they will wrap themselves around it, and there will be no one who can rescue it.30En aquel día bramarán contra (Israel) como brama el mar; y si uno mirase la tierra, no verá sino tinieblas y angustia; pues la luz se oscurecerá en densas nubes. And in that day, they will make a noise over it, like the sound of the sea. We will gaze out toward the land, and behold, the darkness of the tribulation, and even the light has been darkened by its gloom.
