Isaías 7

¹Aconteció que en los días de Acaz, hijo de Joatán, hijo de Ocías, rey de Judá, subió Rasín, rey de Siria, con Facee, hijo de Romelías, rey de Israel, a Jerusalén, para hacer guerra contra ella, pero no pudo tomarla. And it happened in the days of Ahaz, the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, the king of Judah, that Rezin, the king of Syria, and Pekah, the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, ascended to Jerusalem to battle against it. But they were not able to defeat it.²Y dieron aviso a la casa de David, diciendo: “Acampó Siria en Efraím”; y tembló su corazón, y el corazón de su pueblo, como tiemblan los árboles de la selva agitados por el viento. And they reported to the house of David, saying: “Syria has withdrawn to Ephraim.” And his heart was shaken, with the heart of his people, just as the trees of the forest are moved by the face of the wind.³Entonces dijo Yahvé a Isaías: “Sal al encuentro de Acaz, tú y Schearyaschub, tu hijo, al extremo del acueducto de la piscina superior, en el camino del campo del batanero. And the Lord said to Isaiah: Go out to meet Ahaz, you and your son, Jashub, who was left behind, to the end of the aqueduct, at the upper pool, on the road to the fuller’s field.⁴Y le dirás: “Ponte en guardia, quédate tranquilo; no temas ni se desaliente tu corazón, a causa de estos dos cabos de tizones humeantes; a causa de la ira ardiente de Rasín, de Siria y del hijo de Romelías. And you shall say to him: “See to it that you are silent. Do not be afraid. And have no dread in your heart over the two tails of these firebrands, nearly extinguished, which are the wrath of the fury of Rezin, king of Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.”⁵Porque ha proyectado mal contra ti Siria, Efraím y el hijo de Romelías, diciendo: For Syria has undertaken a plan against you, with the evil of Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, saying:⁶“Subamos contra Judá, aterroricémoslo, apoderémonos de él y démosle por rey al hijo de Tabeel.” “Let us ascend to Judah, and stir it up, and tear it away for ourselves, and appoint the son of Tabeel as a king in its midst.”⁷Así dice Yahvé el Señor: “Esto no se llevará a cabo, ni se hará. Thus says the Lord God: This shall not stand, and this shall not be.⁸Porque cabeza de Siria es Damasco, y cabeza de Damasco, Rasín; faltan todavía sesenta y cinco años y Efraím será quebrantado, y dejará de ser pueblo. For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within sixty-five years from now, Ephraim will cease to be a people.⁹Y cabeza de Efraím es Samaria, y cabeza de Samaria, el hijo de Romelías. If you will not believe, you will not continue.¹⁰Volvió a hablar Yahvé a Acaz, diciendo: And the Lord spoke further to Ahaz, saying:¹¹“Pide para ti una señal de parte de Yahvé tu Dios; en lo profundo del scheol, o arriba en lo alto.” Ask for a sign for yourself from the Lord your God, from the depths below, even to the heights above.¹²Mas Acaz respondió: “No pediré, ni tentaré a Yahvé.” And Ahaz said, “I will not ask, for I will not tempt the Lord.”¹³Dijo entonces (el profeta): “Oíd, pues, casa de David: ¿acaso os es poca cosa molestar a los hombres, que molestáis también a mi Dios? And he said: “Then listen, O house of David. Is it such a small thing for you to trouble men, that you must also trouble my God?¹⁴Por tanto el Señor mismo os dará una señal: He aquí que la virgen concebirá y dará a luz un hijo, y le pondrá por nombre Emmanuel. For this reason, the Lord himself will grant to you a sign. Behold, a virgin will conceive, and she will give birth to a son, and his name will be called Immanuel.¹⁵Comerá leche cuajada y miel hasta que sepa repudiar el mal y elegir el bien. He will eat butter and honey, so that he may know to reject evil and to choose good.¹⁶Porque antes que sepa el niño repudiar el mal y elegir el bien, será abandonada la tierra, ante cuyos dos reyes tú tienes miedo. But even before the boy knows to refuse evil and to choose good, the land that you detest will be abandoned by the face of her two kings.¹⁷Pero Yahvé hará venir sobre ti, sobre tu pueblo, y sobre la casa de tu padre, días cuales nunca han venido desde el día que Efraím se apartó de Judá; pues (hará venir) al rey de Asiria.” The Lord will lead over you, and over your people, and over the house of your father, such days as have not occurred since the days of the separation of Ephraim from Judah by the king of the Assyrians.¹⁸En aquel día Yahvé atraerá con un silbido a la mosca que está en los cabos de los ríos de Egipto, y la abeja que está en la tierra de Asiria. And this shall be in that day: the Lord will call for the fly, which is in the most distant parts of the rivers of Egypt, and for the swarm, which is in the land of Assur.¹⁹Ellas vendrán y se posarán todas en los valles escarpados, en las hendiduras de las rocas, en todos los zarzales y en todos los matorrales. And they will arrive, and they all will rest in the torrents of the valleys, and in the caverns of the rocks, and in every thicket, and in every opening.²⁰En aquel día rasurará el Señor por medio de una navaja alquilada del otro lado del río, a saber, por medio del rey de Asiria, la cabeza y el pelo de los pies; y arrancara también la barba. In that day, the Lord will shave with a razor the ones hired by those who are across the river, by the king of the Assyrians, from the head to the hairs of the feet, with the entire beard.²¹En aquel día un hombre no criará más que una vaca y dos ovejas; And this shall be in that day: a man will raise a cow among oxen, and two sheep,²²y cuando le den abundancia de leche, comerá leche cuajada. Pues leche cuajada y miel comerán todos los que quedaren en el país. and, instead of an abundance of milk, he will eat butter. For all who are left behind in the midst of the land will eat butter and honey.²³En aquel día sucederá que todo lugar en donde había mil vides, por valor de mil siclos, será convertido en zarzal y abrojos. And this shall be in that day: every place, where there were a thousand grapevines worth a thousand pieces of silver, will become thorns and briers.²⁴Por allá se andará con flechas y arco; pues el país entero será zarzal y espinas. They will enter such places with arrows and bows. For briers and thorns will be throughout the entire land.²⁵Y todos los montes que (ahora) se labran con azada, quedarán abandonados por temor de las zarzas y espinas; serán para pasto de bueyes, y para ser hollados por ovejas. But as for all the mountains, which will be dug with a hoe, the terror of thorns and briers will not approach those places. And there will be pasture land for oxen, and a range for cattle.”
