1Después de Abimelec, se levantó Tolá, hijo de Fuá, hijo de Dodó, varón de Isacar, para salvar a Israel. And the Lord said to them: “Did not the Egyptians, and the Amorites, and the sons of Ammon, and the Philistines,12Y cuando los sidonios, los amalecitas y los maonitas os oprimían, y clamasteis a Mí, ¿no os salvé Yo de sus manos? and also the Sidonians, and Amalek, and Canaan, oppress you, and so you cried out to me, and I rescued you from their hand?13Pero vosotros me habéis abandonado, sirviendo a otros dioses; por eso no volveré a libraros. And yet you have forsaken me, and you have worshipped foreign gods. For this reason, I will not continue to free you any more.14Andad y clamad a los dioses que os habéis elegido. ¡Que ellos os salven en el tiempo de vuestra angustia!” Go, and call upon the gods whom you have chosen. Let them free you in the time of anguish.”15Los hijos de Israel respondieron a Yahvé: “Hemos pecado. Haz con nosotros lo que mejor te parezca, pero líbranos, te rogamos, en este día.” And the sons of Israel said to the Lord: “We have sinned. You may repay us in whatever way pleases you. Yet free us now.”16Y arrojando de en medio de ellos los dioses extraños sirvieron a Yahvé; pues su alma desfallecía a causa de la desdicha de Israel. And saying these things, they cast out all the idols of the foreign gods from their regions, and they served the Lord God. And he was touched by their miseries.17Se reunieron entretanto los hijos de Ammón y acamparon en Galaad. Se juntaron también los hijos de Israel y acamparon en Masfá. And then the sons of Ammon, shouting out together, pitched their tents in Gilead. And the sons of Israel gathered together against them, and they made camp at Mizpah.18Entonces el pueblo, los príncipes de Galaad decían unos a otros: “¿Quién es el hombre que comenzará a combatir a los hijos de Ammón? Él será el caudillo de todos los habitantes de Galaad.” And the leaders of Gilead said to one another, “Whoever among us will be the first to begin to contend against the sons of Ammon, he shall be the leader of the people of Gilead.”
