Jeremías 19
1Así dijo Yahvé: “Anda y toma una vasija de barro, obra de alfarero, y unos ancianos del pueblo, con algunos ancianos de los sacerdotes; Thus says the Lord: “Go, and take a potter’s earthen bottle from the elders of the people and from the elders of the priests.2y sal al valle del hijo de Hinnom, que está a la entrada de la puerta de la Alfarería, y pregona allí las palabras que voy a decirte. And go out to the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is near the entrance to the earthen gate, and there you shall proclaim the words that I will speak to you.3Dirás: Escuchad la palabra de Yahvé, reyes de Judá y habitantes de Jerusalén. Así dice Yahvé de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: He aquí que descargaré sobre este lugar una desventura tal, que a cuantos la oyeren les retiñirán los oídos. And you shall say: Listen to the word of the Lord, O kings of Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem. Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will lead an affliction over this place, so much so that it will ring in the ears of all who hear about it.4Por cuanto me han dejado, y han enajenado este lugar, quemando en él incienso a dioses ajenos, desconocidos de ellos, de sus padres y de los reyes de Judá. Llenaron este lugar de sangre de inocentes; For they have abandoned me, and they have made this place foreign, and they have offered libations in it to foreign gods, whom neither they, nor their fathers, nor the kings of Judah have known. And they have filled this place with the blood of the innocent.5y erigieron (altares) excelsos a Baal, para quemar en el fuego a sus hijos como holocaustos a Baal; cosa que Yo no he mandado ni dicho, ni me pasó por el pensamiento. And they have built the exalted places of Baal, in order to burn their children with fire as a holocaust to Baal, something that I did not instruct or speak of, nor did it enter into my heart.6Por tanto, he aquí que días vendrán, dice Yahvé, en que ya no se llamará este lugar Tófet, ni valle del hijo de Hinnom, sino valle de la Mortandad. Because of this, behold, the days are approaching, says the Lord, when this place will no longer be called Topheth, or the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.7En este lugar frustraré los planes de Judá y de Jerusalén; los exterminaré con la espada de sus enemigos, y por mano de los que buscan su vida; y daré sus cadáveres como pasto a las aves del cielo y a las bestias de la tierra. And I will scatter the counsel of Judah and of Jerusalem in this place. And I will overthrow them with the sword, in the sight of their enemies and by the hand of those who seek their lives. And I will give their carcasses to the birds of the air and to the beasts of the land as food.8Y haré de esta ciudad un objeto de asombro y silbido: Todos cuantos pasen junto a ella quedarán asombrados y silbarán, viendo todas sus calamidades. And I will set this city amid stupor and hissing. Everyone who passes by it will be stupefied, and they will hiss over all its wounds.9Les daré de comer la carne de sus hijos y la carne de sus hijas, y comerán la carne de sus amigos, en la angustia y en la estrechez a que los reducirán sus enemigos y los que atentan contra su vida. And I will feed them with the flesh of their sons and with the flesh of their daughters. And each one of them will eat the flesh of his friend during the blockade and the embargo by which their enemies, and those who seek their lives, will enclose them.10Luego romperás la vasija a vista de los hombres que te acompañan; And you shall crush the bottle in the sight of the men who will go with you.11y les dirás: Esto dice Yahvé de los ejércitos: Así romperé Yo a este pueblo y a esta ciudad, como se rompe una vasija de alfarero, la cual ya no puede componerse; y por falta de lugar enterrarán (a los muertos) en Tófet. And you shall say to them: Thus says the Lord of hosts: In the same way, I will crush this people and this city, just as the potter’s vessel was crushed and cannot be made whole again. And they will be buried at Topheth, because there will be no other place for burial.12Así trataré a este lugar y sus habitantes, dice Yahvé, y haré que esta ciudad sea como Tófet. So will I do to this place and to its inhabitants, says the Lord. And I will make this city to be like Topheth.13También las casas de Jerusalén y las casas de los reyes de Judá, serán inmundas como el lugar de Tófet; todas las casas sobre cuyos terrados quemaron incienso a toda la milicia del cielo, y derramaron libaciones a dioses ajenos.” And the houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah will be unclean, just like the place of Topheth: all the houses on whose roofs they sacrificed to all the armies of heaven and poured out libations to strange gods.”14Jeremías volvió de Tófet, adonde Yahvé le había enviado a profetizar; y se paró en el atrio de la Casa de Yahvé, donde dijo a todo el pueblo: Then Jeremiah arrived from Topheth, where the Lord had sent him to prophesy, and he stood in the atrium of the house of the Lord, and he said to all the people:15“Así dice Yahvé de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: He aquí que haré venir sobre esta ciudad y sobre todas las ciudades (que dependen) de ella, todas las calamidades que contra ella he anunciado; puesto que han endurecido su cerviz, para no escuchar mis palabras.” “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will lead over this community, and over all its cities, all the evils that I have spoken against it. For they have hardened their necks, so that they would not heed my words.”
