Jeremías 35
1Palabra de Yahvé que Jeremías recibió en tiempo de Joakim, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá: The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord in the days of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, the king of Judah, saying:2“Anda a la casa de los recabitas y habla con ellos, y llévalos a la Casa de Yahvé, a una de las cámaras, y dales a beber vino.” “Go to the house of the Rechabites, and speak to them, and lead them into the house of the Lord, into one of the halls of the treasuries. And you shall give them wine to drink.”3Tomé a Jaazanías, hijo de Jeremías, hijo de Habasinías, y a sus hermanos y todos sus hijos, y toda la familia de los recabitas; And so I took Jaazaniah, the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, and his brothers, and all his sons, and the entire house of the Rechabites,4y los introduje en la Casa de Yahvé, en la cámara de los hijos de Hanán, hijo de Igdalías, varón de Dios, la que estaba junto a la cámara de los príncipes, encima de la cámara de Maasías, hijo de Sellum, guardián de la puerta; and I led them into the house of the Lord, to the treasury of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, a man of God, which was near the treasury of the princes, above the storehouse of Maaseiah, the son of Shallum, who was the guardian of the entrance.5y puse ante los hijos de la estirpe de los recabitas jarros y copas llenos de vino, y les dije: “Bebed vino.” And I placed before the sons of the house of the Rechabites bowls filled with wine, and chalices. And I said to them, “Drink wine.”6Pero ellos contestaron: “No bebemos vino; pues Jonadab, hijo de Recab, nuestro padre, nos mandó: «Nunca jamás beberéis vino, ni vosotros ni vuestros hijos. And they responded: “We will not drink wine. For Jonadab, the son of Rechab, our father, instructed us, saying: ‘You shall not drink wine, you and your sons, in perpetuity.7Tampoco edificaréis casas ni haréis siembras, ni plantaréis viñas, ni poseeréis (cosa alguna), sino que habitaréis en tiendas durante toda vuestra vida, para que viváis largo tiempo sobre la tierra en la cual sois peregrinos.» And you shall not build houses, and you shall not sow any seeds, and you shall not plant or have vineyards. Instead, you shall live in tents all your days, so that you may live many days upon the face of the earth, in which you are sojourners.’8Hemos obedecido la voz de Jonadab, hijo de Recab, nuestro padre, en todo cuanto nos ha mandado, de modo que no bebemos vino en todos nuestros días, ni nosotros, ni nuestras mujeres, ni nuestros hijos, ni nuestras hijas; Therefore, we have obeyed the voice of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, our father, in all that he has commanded us, so that we do not drink wine all our days, we and our wives, our sons and daughters.9y no edificamos casas de habitación; ni tampoco tenemos viñas, ni campos, ni sementeras, And we do not build houses in which to live. And we do not have vineyard, or field, or seed to sow.10sino que vivimos en tiendas, obedeciendo a Jonadab, nuestro padre, y cumpliendo todo cuanto él nos ha mandado. Instead, we live in tents, and we have been obedient in accord with all that Jonadab, our father, has instructed us.11Mas cuando Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, invadió el país, nos dijimos: Vámonos y retirémonos a Jerusalén ante el ejército de los caldeos y ante el ejército de los sirios; y así venimos a habitar en Jerusalén.” But when Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, had ascended to our land, we said: ‘Come and let us enter into Jerusalem, before the face of the army of the Chaldeans, and before the face of the army of Syria.’ And we have remained in Jerusalem.”12Entonces fue dirigida a Jeremías esta palabra de Dios: And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying:13“Así dice Yahvé de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: Anda y di a los hombres de Judá y a los habitantes de Jerusalén: ¿Por qué no tomáis ejemplo para obedecer mis palabras?, dice Yahvé. “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Go, and say to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem: Will you not accept discipline, so that you obey my words, says the Lord?14Se cumplen las órdenes de Jonadab, hijo de Recab, que mandó a sus hijos no beber vino, de modo que ellos no lo beben hasta el día de hoy, pues obedecen el precepto de su padre; y Yo os he hablado con tanta solicitud, y no me habéis escuchado. The words of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, in which he instructed his sons, so that they would not drink wine, have prevailed. And they have not drunk wine, even to this day. For they have obeyed the instruction of their father. But I have spoken to you, rising and speaking from early morning, and you did not obey me.15Con la misma solicitud y sin cesar os he enviado a todos mis siervos los profetas, para deciros: «Convertíos cada cual de su mal camino, y enmendad vuestra conducta, y no vayáis tras otros dioses dándoles culto, para que habitéis la tierra que di a vosotros y a vuestros padres», pero no hicisteis caso ni me escuchasteis. And I have sent to you all my servants, the prophets, rising at first light, and sending, and saying: ‘Convert, each one from his wicked way, and make your intentions good. And do not choose to follow strange gods, nor shall you worship them. And then you shall live in the land which I gave to you and to your fathers.’ And yet you have not inclined your ear, and you have not heeded me.16Por cuanto los hijos de Jonadab, hijo de Recab, han observado el precepto que su padre les había dado, y este pueblo, empero, no me ha obedecido a Mí, So the sons of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, have remained firm in the commandment of their father, which he instructed to them, while this people has not been obedient to me.17por eso, así dice Yahvé, el Dios de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: He aquí que haré venir sobre Judá y sobre los habitantes de Jerusalén todas las calamidades que les he anunciado; pues les he hablado, y no han escuchado; los he llamado, y no han respondido.” For this reason, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will lead over Judah and over all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every evil that I have declared against them. For I have spoken to them, and they have not listened. I have called to them, and they have not responded to me.”18Y dijo Jeremías a la casa de los recabitas: Así dice Yahvé de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: “Porque habéis obedecido el precepto de Jonadab, vuestro padre, y habéis observado todas sus órdenes, haciendo todo cuanto él os mandó, Then Jeremiah said to the house of the Rechabites: “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Because you have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab, your father, and have kept all his precepts, and have done all that he has instructed you,19por eso, así dice Yahvé de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: Nunca faltarán a Jonadab, hijo de Recab, varones que me sirvan todos los días.” because of this, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: There will not be a man lacking from the stock of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, standing in my sight, for all days.”
