Jeremías 39
1El año noveno de Sedecías rey de Judá, en el décimo mes, vino Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, con todo su ejército a Jerusalén y la sitió. In the ninth year of Zedekiah, the king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem, with his entire army, and they besieged it.2Y el año undécimo de Sedecías, el día nueve del mes cuarto, fue abierta una brecha en la ciudad; Then, in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the fifth of the month, the city was opened.3y entraron todos los generales del rey de Babilonia, y se sentaron cerca de la puerta media; Nergalsarezer, Samgarnebo, Sarsequim, Rabsarís. Nergalsarezer, Rabmag, con todos los demás jefes del rey de Babilonia. And all the rulers of the king of Babylon entered and were seated at the middle gate: Nergal-Sharezer, the priest of Nebo, Sarsechim, the chief eunuch, Nergal-Sharezer, the chief magi, and all the other rulers of the king of Babylon.4Al verlos Sedecías, rey de Judá, y todos los guerreros, huyeron, y salieron de noche de la ciudad, por el camino del jardín del rey, por la puerta que está entre los dos muros; y se encaminaron hacia el Arabá. And when Zedekiah, the king of Judah, with all the men of war, had seen them, they fled. And they departed from the city at night, by way of the king’s garden, and through the gate which was between the two walls. And they departed along the way of the desert.5Pero los persiguió el ejército de los caldeos; y alcanzaron a Sedecías en la llanura de Jericó. Lo tomaron preso y lo llevaron a Riblá, en la tierra de Hamat, ante Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, quien lo sentenció. But the army of the Chaldeans pursued them. And they overtook Zedekiah in the plain of the desert of Jericho. And having captured him, they led him to Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, at Riblah, which is in the land of Hamath. And he declared a judgment against him6El rey de Babilonia hizo matar en Riblá a los hijos de Sedecías, delante de los ojos de este. El rey de Babilonia hizo degollar también a todos los nobles de Judá. And the king of Babylon killed the sons of Zedekiah, at Riblah, before his eyes. And the king of Babylon killed all the nobles of Judah.7A Sedecías le sacó los ojos y ordenó atarlo con cadenas de bronce, para conducirlo a Babilonia. Also, he plucked out the eyes of Zedekiah. And he bound him with fetters, to be led away to Babylon.8Los caldeos entregaron a las llamas el palacio del rey y las casas del pueblo, y destruyeron los muros de Jerusalén. Also, the Chaldeans burned the house of the king and the house of the people with fire, and they overturned the wall of Jerusalem.9Al resto de los habitantes que habían quedado en la ciudad, y a los desertores que se habían pasado a él, como también a los restantes del pueblo que aún quedaba, los deportó Nabuzardán a Babilonia, capitán de la guardia. And Nebuzaradan, the leader of the military, carried away captive to Babylon the remnant of the people who had remained in the city, and the fugitives who had fled to him, and all the rest of the people who had remained.10Solamente de los pobres del pueblo, que nada tenían, Nabuzardán, capitán de la guardia, dejó algunos en la tierra de Judá, dándoles al mismo tiempo viñas y campos. And Nebuzaradan, the leader of the military, released some of the poor people, those who had almost nothing, into the land of Judah. And he gave them vineyards and cisterns in that day.11Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, dio a Nabuzardán, capitán de la guardia, la siguiente orden respecto de Jeremías: Now Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, had instructed Nebuzaradan, the leader of the military, about Jeremiah, saying:12“Tómalo, y pon en él tu ojo, no le hagas ningún daño, antes bien, trátalo según él mismo te indique.” “Take him, and set your eyes on him, and you shall do no harm to him at all. But as he is willing, so shall you do with him.”13Por lo tanto Nabuzardán, capitán de la guardia, Nebusazbán, Rabsarís, Nergalsarezer, Rabmag y todos los generales del rey de Babilonia, Therefore, Nebuzaradan, the leader of the military, sent, and Nebushazban, the chief eunuch, and Nergal-Sharezer, the chief magi, and all the nobles of the king of Babylon sent,14enviaron a sacar a Jeremías del patio de la cárcel, y lo entregaron a Godolías, hijo de Ahicam, hijo de Safán, para que lo llevase a su casa; y así habitó en medio del pueblo. and they took Jeremiah from the vestibule of the prison, and they delivered him to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, so that he could enter a house and live among the people.15Mientras estaba preso en el patio de la cárcel, Jeremías había recibido esta palabra de Yahvé: But the word of the Lord had come to Jeremiah, when he had been confined to the vestibule of the prison, saying: “Go, and speak to Ebedmelech, the Ethiopian, saying:16“Ve y di a Ebed-Mélec, etíope: Así dice Yahvé de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: He aquí que voy a cumplir mis palabras acerca de esta ciudad, para mal y no para bien, y se cumplirán en aquel día ante tu vista. Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring my words over this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be in your sight in that day.17Mas a ti te libraré en ese día, dice Yahvé, y no serás entregado en manos de aquellos hombres a quienes tienes miedo; And I will free you in that day, says the Lord. And you will not be delivered into the hands of the men whom you dread.18porque Yo te salvaré con toda seguridad y no caerás a espada, sino que tendrás por botín tu vida, por cuanto has confiado en Mí”, dice Yahvé. But when delivering, I will free you. And you will not fall by the sword. Instead, your life will be saved for you, because you had faith in me, says the Lord.”
