Jeremías 48
1Para Moab: Así dice Yahvé de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: “¡Ay de Nebó, que está devastada; confundida y tomada ha sido Kiryataim; Misgab está consternada y abatida. Against Moab, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Woe upon Nebo! For it has been devastated and confounded. Kiriathaim has been seized; the strong one has been confounded and has trembled.2Pasó ya la gloria de Moab; en Hesbón se trama su mal. «¡Venid, exterminémosla para que no sea más nación!» Tú también, Madmén, perecerás, tras ti va la espada. There is no longer any rejoicing in Moab over Heshbon. They have devised evil. ‘Come and let us destroy it as a nation.’ Then you will be utterly silenced, and the sword will pursue you.3Gritos desde Horonaim, devastación y ruina grande. A voice of clamor from Horonaim: devastation and great destruction!4Moab está destruido, lloran sus parvulitos. Moab has been crushed. Announce an outcry for her little ones.5En la cuesta de Luhit se oye llanto, suben llorando, y en la bajada de Horonaim se oyen angustiosos gritos de quebranto. For, along the ascent of Luhith, the mourner will ascend with weeping. For, on the descent of Horonaim, the enemies have heard the wailing of devastation.6«Huid, salvad vuestras vidas, sed como un arbusto en el desierto.» Flee, save your lives! And you shall be like a saltcedar tree in the desert.7Porque has puesto tu confianza en tus obras y en tus tesoros, también tú serás tomada; y Camos irá al cautiverio, a una con sus sacerdotes y príncipes. For because you have had faith in your fortifications and in your storehouses, you too will be seized. And Chemosh will go into captivity: his priests and his leaders together.8Vendrá el devastador a cada ciudad, y ninguna se salvará; será asolado el valle y devastado el altiplano, como lo ha dicho Yahvé. And the despoiler will overwhelm every city, and not a single city will be saved. And the valleys will perish, and the fields will be destroyed. For the Lord has spoken.9Dad alas a Moab para que se escape volando, pues sus ciudades serán un desierto, sin habitantes en ellas. Give a blossom to Moab. For it will depart when it is blossoming. And its cities will become desolate and uninhabited.10¡Maldito aquel que ejecuta la obra de Yahvé negligentemente y maldito el que veda a su espada derramar sangre! Cursed is he who does the work of the Lord deceitfully. And cursed is he who prohibits his sword from blood.11Tranquilo estuvo Moab desde su mocedad, descansando sobre sus heces, no fue trasegado de una vasija a otra, ni marchó al cautiverio, y así ha conservado su gusto y no se ha mudado su aroma. Moab has been fertile from his youth, and he has rested amid his brood. And he has not been transferred from vessel to vessel, nor has he gone into the transmigration. Therefore, his taste has remained with him, and his scent has not changed.12Por eso, he aquí que vienen días, dice Yahvé, en que le enviaré trasegadores que le trasegarán; que vaciarán sus vasijas y romperán sus tinajas. Because of this, behold, the days are approaching, says the Lord, when I will send to him those who will line up and knock down his bottles, and they will knock him down and empty his vessels, and they will break their bottles against one another.13Entonces Moab se avergonzará de Camos, como la casa de Israel se avergonzó de Betel, objeto de su confianza. And Moab will be confounded by Chemosh, just as the house of Israel was shamed by Bethel, in which they had faith.14¿Cómo decís: «Nosotros somos héroes y fuertes para la guerra»? How can you say: ‘We are strong and robust men of battle?’15El devastador sube contra Moab y sus ciudades, la flor de su juventud baja para la matanza, dice Yahvé, cuyo Nombre es Yahvé de los ejércitos. Moab has been devastated, and they have cut down her cities. And her elect young men have descended to slaughter. So says the King, whose name is the Lord of hosts.16La ruina de Moab está cerca, y va a venir muy pronto su desastre. The passing away of Moab draws near and arrives. Its evil will rush forward with great speed.17Lamentadle, todos sus vecinos, y todos los que conocéis su nombre, decid: «¡Cómo se ha quebrado un cetro tan fuerte, un báculo tan magnífico!» Console him, all you who surround him and all you who know his name. Say: ‘How has the strong staff become broken, the glorious staff?’18Desciende de tu gloria, y siéntate en lo árido, oh hija, habitadora de Dibón; porque el devastador de Moab sube contra ti, para arrasar tus fortificaciones. Descend from your glory, and sit in thirst, O habitation of the daughter of Dibon! For the destroyer of Moab has ascended to you; he has dissipated your fortifications.19Estáte junto al camino y atalaya, moradora de Aroer, pregunta al que huye y di a la que se escapa: «¿Qué pasa?» Stand in the way, and gaze out, O habitation of Aroer! Question him who is fleeing, and say to him who has escaped: ‘What has happened?’20Avergonzado está Moab, porque ha sido derrotado. ¡Dad alaridos y gritad! ¡Anunciad en el Arnón que Moab está destruido! Moab has been confounded, because he has been conquered. Wail and cry out! Announce it in Arnon: Moab has been devastated,21El juicio ha venido sobre la tierra del Altiplano, sobre Holón, sobre Jasa y sobre Mefaat; and judgment has arrived upon the land of the plains: upon Holon, and upon Jahzah, and upon Mephaath,22sobre Dibón, sobre Nebó y sobre Bet-Diblataim; and upon Dibon, and upon Nebo, and upon the house of Deblathaim,23sobre Kiryataim, sobre Bet Gamul, y sobre Bet Maón; and upon Kiriathaim, and upon the house of Gamul, and upon the house of Meon,24sobre Kiryat, sobre Bosra y sobre todas las ciudades del país de Moab, lejanas y cercanas. and upon Kerioth, and upon Bozrah, and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, those far away and those nearby.25Ha sido cortado el cuerno de Moab, y su brazo está quebrado, dice Yahvé. The horn of Moab has been cut away, and his arm has been crushed, says the Lord.26Embriagadle, pues se alzó contra Yahvé. ¡Revuélquese Moab en su mismo vómito, y sea objeto de mofa también él! Inebriate him, for he has lifted himself up against the Lord. And Moab will thrust his hand into his own vomit, and also now he himself will become a derision.27¿Pues no fue Israel objeto de burla para ti? ¿Fue acaso hallado entre los ladrones? pues cuantas veces hablaste de él y meneaste la cabeza. For Israel had been a derision to them. It was as if you had discovered him among thieves. Because of your own words, then, which you have spoken against him, you will be led away captive.28Dejad las ciudades y vivid en los peñascos, habitantes de Moab, sed como la paloma que hace su nido sobre el borde de la cueva. Relinquish the cities, and live upon a rock, O inhabitants of Moab, and be like a dove nesting at the mouth of an opening at the summit.29Hemos oído hablar de la soberbia de Moab que es muy orgulloso, de su altanería, arrogancia, presunción y altivez de su corazón. We have listened to the arrogance of Moab; he is very proud: his exaltation, and arrogance, and pride, and the loftiness of his heart.30Yo conozco su saña, dice Yahvé, sus vanas jactancias, sus obras falaces. I myself know, says the Lord, his boasting, and that his ability is not in accord with it, nor is it in accord with what he has been striving to do.31Por eso doy alaridos por Moab, me lamento por Moab entero; son llorados los hombres de Kir-Heres. For this reason, I will wail over Moab, and I will cry out to all of Moab, to the men on the brick wall who are lamenting.32Más que a Jaser te lloraré a ti, oh vid de Sibmá: tus sarmientos pasaron más allá del mar, se extendieron hasta el mar de Jaser; sobre tu cosecha y tu vendimia se precipitó el devastador. O vineyard of Sibmah, I will weep for you, with the mourning of Jazer. Your offshoots have crossed over the sea. They have reached even to the sea of Jazer. The despoiler has rushed over your harvest and your vintage.33Se ha retirado la alegría y el júbilo del campo feraz, y de la tierra de Moab; Yo he quitado a los lagares el vino; no se los pisa más con gritos de alegría, porque los gritos ya no son gritos de alegría. Rejoicing and exultation has been taken away from Carmel and from the land of Moab. And I have taken the wine from the winepresses. The treader of grapes will no longer sing the usual rhythmic chant.34Desde Hesbón hasta Elealé se oyen gemidos, hasta Jasa llegan sus alaridos, desde Zoar hasta Horonaim y Eglat-Selisiá; pues también las aguas de Nimrim serán un desierto. From the outcry of Heshbon, even to Elealeh and Jahzah, they have uttered their voice; from Zoar, even to Horonaim, like a three year old calf. So too, the waters of Nimrim will be very bad.35Exterminaré en Moab, dice Yahvé, a quien ofrezca sacrificios en las alturas, y queme incienso a sus dioses. And I will take away from Moab, says the Lord, the one who makes offerings in exalted places, and the one who sacrifices to his gods.36Por eso mi corazón gime cual flauta por Moab; como una flauta gime mi corazón por las gentes de Kir-Heres; porque ha desaparecido lo que habían adquirido. Because of this, my heart will resound for Moab, like the pipes, and my heart will make a sound like the pipes for the men on the brick wall. For he has done more than he was able, yet still they have perished.37Pues toda cabeza está calva, y toda barba ha sido rapada; en todas las manos hay sajaduras, y sobre los lomos llevan sacos. For every head will be bald, and every beard will be shaved. All the hands will be bound together, and there will be haircloth on every back.38Sobre todos los terrados de Moab, y en todas sus plazas se oyen llantos, porque Yo he quebrado a Moab, como vasija inútil —oráculo de Yahvé. Over all the rooftops of Moab, and in its streets, everyone will mourn. For I have crushed Moab like a useless vessel, says the Lord.39¡Cómo ha sido derribado! ¡Ululad! ¿Cómo es que Moab ha vuelto las espaldas vergonzosamente para ser un objeto de ludibrio y espanto para todos sus vecinos? How was it conquered, so that they would wail? How is it that Moab has cast down his neck and been confounded? And Moab will be a derision and an example to everyone around him.”40Pues así dice Yahvé: He aquí que (el enemigo) viene volando como águila, y extiende sus alas sobre Moab. Thus says the Lord: “Behold, he will fly like the eagle, and he will extend his wings to Moab.41Conquistadas las ciudades y tomadas las fortalezas, el corazón de los guerreros de Moab en aquel día será como el corazón de una mujer que está de parto. Kerioth has been captured, and the fortifications have been taken. And in that day, the heart of the strong ones of Moab will be like the heart of a woman giving birth.42Moab será destruido y dejara de ser nación, por cuanto se ha levantado contra Yahvé. And Moab will cease to be a people. For he has been glorified against the Lord.43¡Espanto, fosa y lazo sobre ti, habitante de Moab, dice Yahvé. Terror and the pit and the snare will overwhelm you, O inhabitant of Moab, says the Lord.44El que escape del espanto caerá en la fosa; y el que suba de la fosa quedará preso en el lazo, porque haré venir sobre Moab el año de su visitación —oráculo de Yahvé. Whoever flees from the terror will fall into the pit. And whoever climbs out of the pit will be seized by the snare. For I will lead over Moab the year of their visitation, says the Lord.45Agotados se detienen los fugitivos a la sombra de Hesbón, y llamas de en medio de Sehón, que devora las sienes de Moab, y la coronilla de los hijos del tumulto. Those fleeing from the snare stood in the shadow of Heshbon. For a fire has gone forth from Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and it will devour the portion of Moab, and the top of the head of the sons of tumult.46¡Ay de ti, Moab! ¡Perdido está el pueblo de Camos! Pues tus hijos son llevados al destierro, y tus hijas al cautiverio. Woe to you, O Moab! You have been ruined, O people of Chemosh! For your sons and your daughters have been taken into captivity.47Pero haré que vuelvan los cautivos de Moab en los últimos días”, dice Yahvé. Hasta aquí el juicio sobre Moab. But I will convert the captivity of Moab in the last days, says the Lord.” Such are the judgments of Moab thus far.
