Juan 16
“These things I have spoken to you, so that you would not stumble.2Os excluirán de las sinagogas; y aun vendrá tiempo en que cualquiera que os quite la vida, creerá hacer un obsequio a Dios. They will put you out of the synagogues. But the hour is coming when everyone who puts you to death will consider that he is offering an excellent service to God.3Y os harán esto, porque no han conocido al Padre, ni a Mí. And they will do these things to you because they have not known the Father, nor me.4Os he dicho esto, para que, cuando el tiempo venga, os acordéis que Yo os lo había dicho. No os lo dije desde el comienzo, porque Yo estaba con vosotros. But these things I have spoken to you, so that, when the hour for these things will have arrived, you may remember that I told you.5Y ahora Yo me voy al que me envió, y ninguno de vosotros me pregunta: ¿Adónde vas? But I did not tell you these things from the beginning, because I was with you. And now I am going to him who sent me. And no one among you has asked me, ‘Where are you going?’6sino que la tristeza ha ocupado vuestros corazones porque os he dicho esto. But because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.7Sin embargo, os lo digo en verdad: Os conviene que me vaya; porque, si Yo no me voy, el Intercesor no vendrá a vosotros; mas si me voy, os lo enviaré. But I tell you the truth: it is expedient for you that I am going. For if I do not go, the Advocate will not come to you. But when I will have gone away, I will send him to you.8Y cuando Él venga, presentará querella al mundo, por capítulo de pecado, por capítulo de justicia, y por capítulo de juicio: And when he has arrived, he will argue against the world, about sin and about justice and about judgment:9por capítulo de pecado, porque no han creído en Mí; about sin, indeed, because they have not believed in me;10por capítulo de justicia, porque Yo me voy a mi Padre, y vosotros no me veréis más; about justice, truly, because I am going to the Father, and you will not see me any longer;11por capítulo de juicio, porque el príncipe de este mundo está juzgado. about judgment, then, because the prince of this world has already been judged.12Tengo todavía mucho que deciros, pero no podéis soportarlo ahora. I still have many things to say to you, but you are not able to bear them now.13Cuando venga Aquel, el Espíritu de verdad, Él os conducirá a toda la verdad; porque Él no hablará por Sí mismo, sino que dirá lo que habrá oído, y os anunciará las cosas por venir. But when the Spirit of truth has arrived, he will teach the whole truth to you. For he will not be speaking from himself. Instead, whatever he will hear, he will speak. And he will announce to you the things that are to come.14Él me glorificará, porque tomará de lo mío, y os (lo) declarará. Todo cuanto tiene el Padre es mío; He shall glorify me. For he will receive from what is mine, and he will announce it to you.15por eso dije que Él tomará de lo mío, y os (lo) declarará”. All things whatsoever that the Father has are mine. For this reason, I said that he will receive from what is mine and that he will announce it to you.16“Un poco de tiempo y ya no me veréis: y de nuevo un poco, y me volveréis a ver, porque me voy al Padre”. A little while, and then you will not see me. And again a little while, and you will see me. For I am going to the Father.”17Entonces algunos de sus discípulos se dijeron unos a otros: “¿Qué es esto que nos dice: «Un poco, y ya no me veréis; y de nuevo un poco, y me volveréis a ver» y: «Me voy al Padre?»” Then some of his disciples said to one another: “What is this, that he is saying to us: ‘A little while, and you will not see me,’ and ‘Again a little while, and you will see me,’ and, ‘For I am going to the Father?’ ”18Y decían: “¿Qué es este «poco» de que habla? No sabemos lo que quiere decir”. And they said: “What is this, that he is saying, ‘A little while?’ We do not understand what he is saying.”19Mas Jesús conoció que tenían deseo de interrogarlo, y les dijo: “Os preguntáis entre vosotros que significa lo que acabo de decir: «Un poco, y ya no me veréis, y de nuevo un poco, y me volveréis a ver». But Jesus realized that they wanted to question him, and so he said to them: “Are you inquiring among yourselves about this, that I said: ‘A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me?’20En verdad, en verdad, os digo, vosotros vais a llorar y gemir, mientras que el mundo se va a regocijar. Estaréis contristados, pero vuestra tristeza se convertirá en gozo. Amen, amen, I say to you, that you shall mourn and weep, but the world will rejoice. And you shall be greatly saddened, yet your sorrow shall be turned into joy.21La mujer, en el momento de dar a luz, tiene tristeza, porque su hora ha llegado; pero, cuando su hijo ha nacido, no se acuerda más de su dolor, por el gozo de que ha nacido un hombre al mundo. A woman, when she is giving birth, has sorrow, because her hour has arrived. But when she has given birth to the child, then she no longer remembers the difficulties, because of the joy: for a man has been born into the world.22Así también vosotros, tenéis ahora tristeza, pero Yo volveré a veros, y entonces vuestro corazón se alegrará y nadie os podrá quitar vuestro gozo. Therefore, you also, indeed, have sorrow now. But I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice. And no one will take away your joy from you.23En aquel día no me preguntaréis más sobre nada. En verdad, en verdad, os digo, lo que pidiereis al Padre, Él os lo dará en mi nombre. And, in that day, you will not petition me for anything. Amen, amen, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in my name, he will give it to you.24Hasta ahora no habéis pedido nada en mi nombre. Pedid, y recibiréis, para que vuestro gozo sea colmado”. Until now, you have not requested anything in my name. Ask, and you shall receive, so that your joy may be full.25“Os he dicho estas cosas en parábolas; viene la hora en que no os hablaré más en parábolas, sino que abiertamente os daré noticia del Padre. I have spoken these things to you in proverbs. The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in proverbs; instead, I will announce to you plainly from the Father.26En aquel día pediréis en mi nombre, y no digo que Yo rogaré al Padre por vosotros, In that day, you shall ask in my name, and I do not say to you that I will ask the Father for you.27pues el Padre os ama Él mismo, porque vosotros me habéis amado, y habéis creído que Yo vine de Dios. For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and because you have believed that I went forth from God.28Salí del Padre, y vine al mundo; otra vez dejo el mundo, y retorno al Padre”. I went forth from the Father, and I have come into the world. Next I am leaving the world, and I am going to the Father.”29Dijéronle los discípulos: “He aquí que ahora nos hablas claramente y sin parábolas. His disciples said to him: “Behold, now you are speaking plainly and not reciting a proverb.30Ahora sabemos que conoces todo, y no necesitas que nadie te interrogue. Por esto creemos que has venido de Dios”. Now we know that you know all things, and that you have no need for anyone to question you. By this, we believe that you went forth from God.”31Pero Jesús les respondió: “¿Creéis ya ahora? Jesus answered them: “Do you believe now?32Pues he aquí que viene la hora, y ya ha llegado, en que os dispersaréis cada uno por su lado, dejándome enteramente solo. Pero, Yo no estoy solo, porque el Padre está conmigo. Behold, the hour is coming, and it has now arrived, when you will be scattered, each one on his own, and you will leave me behind, alone. And yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me.33Os he dicho estas cosas, para que halléis paz en Mí. En el mundo pasáis apreturas, pero tened confianza: Yo he vencido al mundo”. These things I have spoken to you, so that you may have peace in me. In the world, you will have difficulties. But have confidence: I have overcome the world.”
