1Después de esto, Jesús anduvo por Galilea; pues no quería andar por Judea porque los judíos trataban de matarlo. Then, after these things, Jesus was walking in Galilee. For he was not willing to walk in Judea, because the Jews were seeking to kill him.2Estando próxima la fiesta judía de los Tabernáculos, Now the feast day of the Jews, the Feast of Tabernacles, was near.3sus hermanos le dijeron: “Trasládate a Judea, para que tus discípulos también (allí) vean que obras haces. And his brothers said to him: “Move away from here and go into Judea, so that your disciples there may also see your works that you do.4Ninguno esconde las propias obras cuando él mismo desea estar en evidencia. Ya que Tú haces tales obras, muéstrate al mundo”. Of course, no one does anything in secret, but he himself seeks to be in the public view. Since you do these things, manifest yourself to the world.”5Efectivamente, ni sus mismos hermanos creían en Él. For neither did his brothers believe in him.6Jesús, por tanto, les respondió: “El tiempo no ha llegado aún para Mí; para vosotros siempre está a punto. Therefore, Jesus said to them: “My time has not yet come; but your time is always at hand.7El mundo no puede odiaros a vosotros; a Mí, al contrario, me odia, porque Yo testifico contra él que sus obras son malas. The world cannot hate you. But it hates me, because I offer testimony about it, that its works are evil.8Id, vosotros, a la fiesta; Yo, no voy a esta fiesta, porque mi tiempo aún no ha llegado”. You may go up to this feast day. But I am not going up to this feast day, because my time has not yet been fulfilled.”9Dicho esto, se quedó en Galilea. When he had said these things, he himself remained in Galilee.10Pero, después que sus hermanos hubieron subido a la fiesta, Él también subió, mas no ostensiblemente, sino como en secreto. But after his brothers went up, then he also went up to the feast day, not openly, but as if in secret.11Buscábanle los judíos durante la fiesta y decían: “¿Dónde está Aquel?” Therefore, the Jews were seeking him on the feast day, and they were saying, “Where is he?”12Y se cuchicheaba mucho acerca de Él en el pueblo. Unos decían: “Es un hombre de bien”. “No, decían otros, sino que extravía al pueblo”. And there was much murmuring in the crowd concerning him. For certain ones were saying, “He is good.” But others were saying, “No, for he seduces the crowds.”13Pero nadie expresaba públicamente su parecer sobre Él, por miedo a los judíos. Yet no one was speaking openly about him, out of fear of the Jews.14Estaba ya mediada la fiesta, cuando Jesús subió al Templo, y se puso a enseñar. Then, about the middle of the feast, Jesus ascended into the temple, and he was teaching.15Los judíos estaban admirados y decían: “¿Cómo sabe este letras, no habiendo estudiado?” And the Jews wondered, saying: “How does this one know letters, though he has not been taught?”16Replicoles Jesús y dijo: “Mi doctrina no es mía, sino del que me envió. Jesus responded to them and said: “My doctrine is not of me, but of him who sent me.17Si alguno quiere cumplir Su voluntad, conocerá si esta doctrina viene de Dios, o si Yo hablo por mi propia cuenta. If anyone has chosen to do his will, then he will realize, about the doctrine, whether it is from God, or whether I am speaking from myself.18Quien habla por su propia cuenta, busca su propia gloria, pero quien busca la gloria del que lo envió, ese es veraz, y no hay en él injusticia. Whoever speaks from himself seeks his own glory. But whoever seeks the glory of him who sent him, this one is true, and injustice is not in him.19¿No os dio Moisés la Ley? Ahora bien, ninguno de vosotros observa la Ley. (Entonces) ¿por qué tratáis de quitarme la vida?”. Did not Moses give you the law? And yet not one among you keeps the law!20La turba le contestó: “Estás endemoniado. ¿Quién trata de quitarte la vida?” Why are you seeking to kill me?” The crowd responded and said: “You must have a demon. Who is seeking to kill you?”21Jesús les respondió y dijo: “Una sola obra he hecho, y por ello estáis desconcertados todos. Jesus responded and said to them: “One work have I done, and you all wonder.22Moisés os dio la circuncisión —no que ella venga de Moisés, sino de los patriarcas— y la practicáis en día de sábado. For Moses gave you circumcision, (not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers) and on the Sabbath you circumcise a man.23Si un hombre es circuncidado en sábado, para que no sea violada la Ley de Moisés: ¿cómo os encolerizáis contra Mí, porque en sábado sané a un hombre entero? If a man can receive circumcision on the Sabbath, so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you indignant toward me, because I have made a man whole on the Sabbath?24No juzguéis según las apariencias, sino que vuestro juicio sea justo. Do not judge according to appearances, but instead judge a just judgment.”25Entonces algunos hombres de Jerusalén se pusieron a decir: “¿No es Este a quien buscan para matarlo? Therefore, some of those from Jerusalem said: “Is he not the one whom they are seeking to kill?26Y ved cómo habla en público sin que le digan nada. ¿Será que verdaderamente habrán reconocido los jefes que Él es el Mesías? And behold, he is speaking openly, and they say nothing to him. Could the leaders have decided that it is true this one is the Christ?27Pero sabemos de dónde es Este; mientras que el Mesías, cuando venga, nadie sabrá de dónde es”. But we know him and where he is from. And when the Christ has arrived, no one will know where he is from.”28Entonces Jesús, enseñando en el Templo, clamó y dijo: “Sí, vosotros me conocéis y sabéis de dónde soy; pero es que Yo no he venido de Mí mismo; mas El que me envió, es verdadero; y a Él vosotros no lo conocéis. Therefore, Jesus cried out in the temple, teaching and saying: “You know me, and you also know where I am from. And I have not arrived of myself, but he who sent me is true, and him you do not know.29Yo sí que lo conozco, porque soy de junto a Él, y es Él quien me envió”. I know him. For I am from him, and he has sent me.”30Buscaban, entonces, apoderarse de Él, pero nadie puso sobre Él la mano, porque su hora no había llegado aún. Therefore, they were seeking to apprehend him, and yet no one laid hands on him, because his hour had not yet come.31De la gente, muchos creyeron en Él, y decían: “Cuando el Mesías venga, ¿hará más milagros que los que Este ha hecho?” But many among the crowd believed in him, and they were saying, “When the Christ arrives, will he perform more signs than this man does?”32Oyeron los fariseos estos comentarios de la gente acerca de Él; y los sumos sacerdotes con los fariseos enviaron satélites para prenderlo. The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things about him. And the leaders and the Pharisees sent attendants to apprehend him.33Entonces Jesús dijo: “Por un poco de tiempo todavía estoy con vosotros; después me voy a Aquel que me envió. Therefore, Jesus said to them: “For a brief time, I am still with you, and then I am going to him who sent me.34Me buscaréis y no me encontraréis, porque donde Yo estaré, vosotros no podéis ir”. You shall seek me, and you will not find me. And where I am, you are not able to go.”35Entonces los judíos se dijeron unos a otros: “¿Adónde, pues, ha de ir, que nosotros no lo encontraremos? ¿Irá a los que están dispersos entre los griegos o irá a enseñar a los griegos? And so the Jews said among themselves: “Where is this place to which he will go, such that we will not find him? Will he go to those dispersed among the Gentiles and teach the Gentiles?36¿Qué significan las palabras que acaba de decir: Me buscaréis y no me encontraréis, y donde Yo estaré, vosotros no podéis ir?” What is this word that he spoke, ‘You will seek me and you will not find me; and where I am, you are not able to go?’ ”37Ahora bien, el último día, el más solemne de la fiesta, Jesús poniéndose de pie, clamó: “Si alguno tiene sed venga a Mí, y beba Then, on the last great day of the feast, Jesus was standing and crying out, saying: “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink:38quien cree en Mí. Como ha dicho la Escritura: «de su seno manarán torrentes de agua viva». whoever believes in me, just as Scripture says, ‘From his chest shall flow rivers of living water.’ ”39Dijo esto del Espíritu que habían de recibir los que creyesen en Él: pues aún no había Espíritu, por cuanto Jesús no había sido todavía glorificado. Now he said this about the Spirit, which those who believe in him would soon be receiving. For the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.40Algunos del pueblo, oyendo estas palabras, decían: “A la verdad, Este es el profeta”. Therefore, some from that crowd, when they had heard these words of his, were saying, “This one truly is the Prophet.”41Otros decían: “Este es el Cristo”; pero otros decían: “Por ventura ¿de Galilea ha de venir el Cristo? Others were saying, “He is the Christ.” Yet certain ones were saying: “Does the Christ come from Galilee?42¿No ha dicho la Escritura que el Cristo ha de venir del linaje de David, y de Belén, la aldea de David?” Does Scripture not say that the Christ comes from the offspring of David and from Bethlehem, the town where David was?”43Se produjo así división en el pueblo a causa de Él. And so there arose a dissension among the multitude because of him.44Algunos de entre ellos querían apoderarse de Él, pero nadie puso sobre Él la mano. Now certain ones among them wanted to apprehend him, but no one laid hands upon him.45Volvieron, pues, los satélites a los sumos sacerdotes y fariseos, los cuales les preguntaron: ¿Por qué no lo habéis traído?” Therefore, the attendants went to the high priests and the Pharisees. And they said to them, “Why have you not brought him?”46Respondieron los satélites: “¡Nadie jamás habló como este hombre!” The attendants responded, “Never has a man spoken like this man.”47A lo cual los fariseos les dijeron: “¿También vosotros habéis sido embaucados? And so the Pharisees answered them: “Have you also been seduced?48¿Acaso hay alguien entre los jefes o entre los fariseos que haya creído en Él? Have any of the leaders believed in him, or any of the Pharisees?49Pero esa turba, ignorante de la Ley, son unos malditos”. But this crowd, which does not know the law, they are accursed.”50Mas Nicodemo, el que había venido a encontrarlo anteriormente, y que era uno de ellos, les dijo: Nicodemus, the one who came to him by night and who was one of them, said to them,51“¿Permite nuestra Ley condenar a alguien antes de haberlo oído y de haber conocido sus hechos?” “Does our law judge a man, unless it has first heard him and has known what he has done?”52Le respondieron y dijeron: “¿También tú eres de Galilea? Averigua y verás que de Galilea no se levanta ningún profeta”. They responded and said to him: “Are you also a Galilean? Study the Scriptures, and see that a prophet does not arise from Galilee.”53Y se fueron cada uno a su casa. And each one returned to his own house.
