1Y Jesús se fue al Monte de los Olivos. But Jesus continued on to the Mount of Olives.2Por la mañana reapareció en el Templo y todo el pueblo vino a Él, y sentándose les enseñaba. And early in the morning, he went again to the temple; and all the people came to him. And sitting down, he taught them.3Entonces los escribas y los fariseos llevaron una mujer sorprendida en adulterio, y poniéndola en medio, Now the scribes and Pharisees brought forward a woman caught in adultery, and they stood her in front of them.4le dijeron: “Maestro, esta mujer ha sido sorprendida en flagrante delito de adulterio. And they said to him: “Teacher, this woman was just now caught in adultery.5Ahora bien, en la Ley, Moisés nos ordenó apedrear a tales mujeres. ¿Y Tú, qué dices?” And in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such a one. But they were saying this to test him, so that they might be able to accuse him. Then Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the earth.7Como ellos persistían en su pregunta, se enderezó y les dijo: “Aquel de vosotros que esté sin pecado, tire el primero la piedra contra ella”. And then, when they persevered in questioning him, he stood upright and said to them, “Let whoever is without sin among you be the first to cast a stone at her.”8E inclinándose de nuevo, se puso otra vez a escribir en el suelo. But upon hearing this, they went away, one by one, beginning with the eldest. And Jesus alone remained, with the woman standing in front of him.10Entonces Jesús, levantándose, le dijo: “Mujer, ¿dónde están ellos? ¿Ninguno te condenó?” Then Jesus, raising himself up, said to her: “Woman, where are those who accused you? Has no one condemned you?”11“Ninguno, Señor”, respondió ella. Y Jesús le dijo: “Yo no te condeno tampoco. Vete, desde ahora no peques más”. And she said, “No one, Lord.” Then Jesus said: “Neither will I condemn you. Go, and now do not choose to sin anymore.”12Jesús les habló otra vez, y dijo: “Yo soy la luz del mundo. El que me siga, no andará en tinieblas, sino que tendrá la luz de la vida”. Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me does not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”13Le dijeron, entonces, los fariseos: “Tú te das testimonio a Ti mismo; tu testimonio no es verdadero”. And so the Pharisees said to him, “You offer testimony about yourself; your testimony is not true.”14Jesús les respondió y dijo: “Aunque Yo doy testimonio de Mí mismo, mi testimonio es verdadero, porque sé de dónde vengo y adónde voy; mas vosotros no sabéis de dónde vengo ni adónde voy. Jesus responded and said to them: “Even though I offer testimony about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going.15Vosotros juzgáis carnalmente; Yo no juzgo a nadie; You judge according to the flesh. I do not judge anyone.16y si Yo juzgo, mi juicio es verdadero, porque no soy Yo solo, sino Yo y el Padre que me envió. And when I do judge, my judgment is true. For I am not alone, but it is I and he who sent me: the Father.17Está escrito también en vuestra Ley que el testimonio de dos hombres es verdadero. And it is written in your law that the testimony of two men is true.18Ahora bien, para dar testimonio de Mí, estoy Yo mismo y el Padre que me envió”. I am one who offers testimony about myself, and the Father who sent me offers testimony about me.”19Ellos le dijeron: “¿Dónde está tu Padre?” Jesús respondió: “Vosotros no conocéis ni a Mí ni a mi Padre; si me conocieseis a Mí, conoceríais también a mi Padre”. Therefore, they said to him, “Where is your Father?” Jesus answered: “You know neither me, nor my Father. If you did know me, perhaps you would know my Father also.”20Dijo esto junto al Tesoro, enseñando en el Templo. Y nadie se apoderó de Él, porque su hora no había llegado aún. Jesus spoke these words at the treasury, while teaching in the temple. And no one apprehended him, because his hour had not yet come.21De nuevo les dijo: “Yo me voy y vosotros me buscaréis, mas moriréis en vuestro pecado. Adonde Yo voy, vosotros no podéis venir”. Therefore, Jesus again spoke to them: “I am going, and you shall seek me. And you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you are not able to go.”22Entonces los judíos dijeron: “Acaso va a matarse, pues que dice: Adonde Yo voy, vosotros no podéis venir”. And so the Jews said, “Is he going to kill himself, for he said: ‘Where I am going, you are not able to go?’ ”23Y Él les dijo: “Vosotros sois de abajo; Yo soy de arriba. Vosotros sois de este mundo; Yo no soy de este mundo. And he said to them: “You are from below. I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world.24Por esto, os dije que moriréis en vuestros pecados. Sí, si no creéis que Yo soy (el Cristo), moriréis en vuestros pecados”. Therefore, I said to you, that you will die in your sins. For if you will not believe that I am, you will die in your sin.”25Entonces le dijeron: “Pues ¿quién eres?” Respondioles Jesús: “Eso mismo que os digo desde el principio. And so they said to him, “Who are you?” Jesus said to them: “The Beginning, who is also speaking to you.26Tengo mucho que decir y juzgar de vosotros. Pues El que me envió es veraz, y lo que Yo oí a Él, esto es lo que enseño al mundo”. I have much to say about you and to judge. But he who sent me is true. And what I have heard from him, this I speak within the world.”27Ellos no comprendieron que les estaba hablando del Padre. And they did not realize that he was calling God his Father.28Jesús les dijo pues: “Cuando hayáis alzado al Hijo del hombre, entonces conoceréis que soy Yo (el Cristo), y que de Mí mismo no hago nada, sino que hablo como mi Padre me enseñó. And so Jesus said to them: “When you will have lifted up the Son of man, then you shall realize that I am, and that I do nothing of myself, but just as the Father has taught me, so do I speak.29El que me envió, está conmigo. El no me ha dejado solo, porque Yo hago siempre lo que le agrada”. And he who sent me is with me, and he has not abandoned me alone. For I always do what is pleasing to him.”30Al decir estas cosas, muchos creyeron en Él. As he was speaking these things, many believed in him.31Jesús dijo entonces a los judíos que le habían creído: “Si permanecéis en mi palabra, sois verdaderamente mis discípulos, Therefore, Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him: “If you will abide in my word, you will truly be my disciples.32y conoceréis la verdad, y la verdad os hará libres”. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”33Replicáronle: “Nosotros somos la descendencia de Abrahán, y jamás hemos sido esclavos de nadie; ¿cómo, pues, dices Tú, llegaréis a ser libres?” They answered him: “We are the offspring of Abraham, and we have never been a slave to anyone. How can you say, ‘You shall be set free?’ ”34Jesús les respondió: “En verdad, en verdad, os digo, todo el que comete pecado es esclavo [del pecado]. Jesus answered them: “Amen, amen, I say to you, that everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.35Ahora bien, el esclavo no queda en la casa para siempre; el hijo queda para siempre. Now the slave does not abide in the house for eternity. Yet the Son does abide in eternity.36Si, pues, el Hijo os hace libres, seréis verdaderamente libres. Therefore, if the Son has set you free, then you will truly be free.37Bien sé que sois la posteridad de Abrahán, y sin embargo, tratáis de matarme, porque mi palabra no halla cabida en vosotros. I know that you are sons of Abraham. But you are seeking to kill me, because my word has not taken hold in you.38Yo digo lo que he visto junto a mi Padre; y vosotros, hacéis lo que habéis aprendido de vuestro padre”. I speak what I have seen with my Father. And you do what you have seen with your father.”39Ellos le replicaron diciendo: “Nuestro padre es Abrahán”. Jesús les dijo: “Si fuerais hijos de Abrahán, haríais las obras de Abrahán. They responded and said to him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them: “If you are the sons of Abraham, then do the works of Abraham.40Sin embargo, ahora tratáis de matarme a Mí, hombre que os he dicho la verdad que aprendí de Dios. ¡No hizo esto Abrahán! But now you are seeking to kill me, a man who has spoken the truth to you, which I have heard from God. This is not what Abraham did.41Vosotros hacéis las obras de vuestro padre”. Dijéronle: “Nosotros no hemos nacido del adulterio; no tenemos más que un padre: ¡Dios!” You do the works of your father.” Therefore, they said to him: “We were not born out of fornication. We have one father: God.”42Jesús les respondió: “Si Dios fuera vuestro padre, me amaríais a Mí, porque Yo salí y vine de Dios. No vine por Mí mismo sino que Él me envió. Then Jesus said to them: “If God were your father, certainly you would love me. For I proceeded and came from God. For I did not come from myself, but he sent me.43¿Por qué, pues, no comprendéis mi lenguaje? Porque no podéis sufrir mi palabra. Why do you not recognize my speech? It is because you are not able to hear my word.44Vosotros sois hijos del diablo, y queréis cumplir los deseos de vuestro padre. Él fue homicida desde el principio, y no permaneció en la verdad, porque no hay nada de verdad en él. Cuando profiere la mentira, habla de lo propio, porque él es mentiroso y padre de la mentira. You are of your father, the devil. And you will carry out the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning. And he did not stand in the truth, because the truth is not in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks it from his own self. For he is a liar, and the father of lies.45Y a Mí porque os digo la verdad, no me creéis. But if I speak the truth, you do not believe me.46¿Quién de vosotros puede acusarme de pecado? Y entonces; si digo la verdad, ¿por qué no me creéis? Which of you can convict me of sin? If I speak the truth to you, why do you not believe me?47El que es de Dios, escucha las palabras de Dios; por eso no la escucháis vosotros, porque no sois de Dios”. Whoever is of God, hears the words of God. For this reason, you do not hear them: because you are not of God.”48A lo cual los judíos respondieron diciéndole: “¿No tenemos razón, en decir que Tú eres un samaritano y un endemoniado?” Therefore, the Jews responded and said to him, “Are we not correct in saying that you are a Samaritan, and that you have a demon?”49Jesús repuso: “Yo no soy un endemoniado, sino que honro a mi Padre, y vosotros me estáis ultrajando. Jesus responded: “I do not have a demon. But I honor my Father, and you have dishonored me.50Mas Yo no busco mi gloria; hay quien la busca y juzgará. But I am not seeking my own glory. There is One who seeks and judges.51En verdad, en verdad, os digo, si alguno guardare mi palabra, no verá jamás la muerte”. Amen, amen, I say to you, if anyone will have kept my word, he will not see death for eternity.”52Respondiéronle los judíos “Ahora sabemos que estás endemoniado. Abrahán murió, los profetas también; y tú dices: “Si alguno guardare mi palabra no gustará jamás la muerte”. Therefore, the Jews said: “Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham is dead, and the Prophets; and yet you say, ‘If anyone will have kept my word, he shall not taste death for eternity.’53¿Eres tú, pues, más grande que nuestro padre Abrahán, el cual murió? Y los profetas también murieron; ¿quién te haces a Ti mismo?” Are you greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? And the prophets are dead. So who do you make yourself to be?”54Jesús respondió: “Si Yo me glorifico a Mí mismo, mi gloria nada es; mi Padre es quien me glorifica: Aquel de quien vosotros decís que es vuestro Dios; Jesus responded: “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me. And you say about him that he is your God.55mas vosotros no lo conocéis. Yo sí que lo conozco, y si dijera que no lo conozco, sería mentiroso como vosotros, pero lo conozco y conservo su palabra. And yet you have not known him. But I know him. And if I were to say that I do not know him, then I would be like you, a liar. But I know him, and I keep his word.56Abrahán, vuestro padre, exultó por ver mi día; y lo vio y se llenó de gozo”. Abraham, your father, rejoiced that he might see my day; he saw it and was glad.”57Dijéronle, pues, los judíos: “No tienes todavía cincuenta años, ¿y has visto a Abrahán?” And so the Jews said to him, “You have not yet reached fifty years, and you have seen Abraham?”58Díjoles Jesús: “En verdad, en verdad os digo: Antes que Abrahán existiera, Yo soy”. Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, before Abraham was made, I am.”59Entonces tomaron piedras para arrojarlas sobre Él. Pero Jesús se ocultó y salió del Templo. Therefore, they took up stones to cast at him. But Jesus hid himself, and he departed from the temple.
