Job 19

1Respondió Job y dijo: But Job answered by saying:2“¿Hasta cuándo afligiréis mi alma, y queréis majarme con palabras? How long will you afflict my soul and wear me down with words?3Ya diez veces me habéis insultado, y no os avergonzáis de ultrajarme. So, ten times you confound me and are not ashamed to oppress me.4Aunque yo realmente haya errado, soy yo quien pago mi error. Now, of course, if I have been ignorant, my ignorance will be with me.5Si queréis alzaros contra mí, alegando en mi desfavor mi oprobio, But you have risen up against me, and you accuse me to my disgrace.6sabed que es Dios quien me oprime, y me ha envuelto en su red. At least now you should understand that God has not afflicted me with a balanced judgment, though he has encompassed me with his scourges.7He aquí que alzo el grito por ser oprimido, pero nadie me responde; clamo, pero no hay justicia. Behold, I will cry out, enduring violence, and no one will hear. I will announce loudly, but there is no one who may judge.8Él ha cerrado mi camino, y no puedo pasar; ha cubierto de tinieblas mis sendas. He has hemmed in my path, and I cannot pass; he has added darkness to my difficult path.9Me ha despojado de mi gloria, y de mi cabeza ha quitado la corona. He has plundered me of my glory, and he has stolen the crown from my head.10Me ha arruinado del todo, y perezco; desarraigó, como árbol, mi esperanza. He has destroyed me on every side, and I am lost, and, like an uprooted tree, he has taken away my hope.11Encendió contra mí su ira, y me considera como enemigo suyo. His fury has raged against me, and in this way he has treated me like his enemy.12Vinieron en tropel sus milicias, se abrieron camino contra mí y pusieron sitio a mi tienda. His troops have gathered together, and they have made their way to me, and they have besieged my tabernacle all around.13A mis hermanos los apartó de mi lado, y mis conocidos se retiraron de mí. He has put my brothers far from me, and my friends have withdrawn from me like strangers.14Me dejaron mis parientes, y mis íntimos me han olvidado. My kinsmen have forsaken me, and those who knew me, have forgotten me.15Los que moran en mi casa, y mis criadas me tratan como extraño; pues soy un extranjero a sus ojos. The inhabitants of my house and my maidservants treat me just as if I were a stranger, and I have been like a sojourner in their eyes.16Llamo a mi siervo, y no me responde, por más que le ruegue con mi boca. I called my servant, and he did not respond; I pleaded with him with my own mouth.17Mi mujer tiene asco de mi hálito, y para los hijos de mis entrañas no soy más que hediondez. My wife has shuddered at my breath, and I have begged the sons of my loins.18Me desprecian hasta los niños; si intento levantarme se mofan de mí. Even the foolish have looked down on me, and, when I withdrew from them, they spoke ill of me.19Todos los que eran mis confidentes me aborrecen, y los que yo más amaba se han vuelto contra mí. Those who were sometimes my counselors, treat me like an abomination; and he whom I valued the most has turned against me.20Mis huesos se pegan a mi piel y a mi carne, y tan solo me queda la piel de mis dientes. Since my flesh has been consumed, my bone adheres to my skin, and only my lips have been left around my teeth.21¡Compadeceos de mí, compadeceos de mí, a lo menos vosotros, amigos míos, pues la mano de Dios me ha herido! Have mercy on me, have compassion on me, at least you my friends, because the hand of the Lord has touched me.22¿Por qué me perseguís como Dios, y ni os hartáis de mi carne? Why do you pursue me just as God does, and satiate yourselves with my flesh?23¡Oh! que se escribiesen mis palabras y se consignaran en un libro, Who will grant to me that my words may be written down? Who will grant to me that they may be inscribed in a book,24que con punzón de hierro y con plomo se grabasen en la peña para eterna memoria! with an iron pen and a plate of lead, or else be carved in stone?25Mas yo sé que vive mi Redentor, y que al fin se alzará sobre la tierra. For I know that my Redeemer lives, and on the last day I will rise out of the earth.26Después, en mi piel, revestido de este (mi cuerpo) veré a Dios (de nuevo) desde mi carne. And I will be enveloped again with my skin, and in my flesh I will see my God.27Yo mismo le veré; le verán mis propios ojos, y no otro; por eso se consumen en mí mis entrañas. It is he whom I myself will see, and he whom my eyes will behold, and no other. This, my hope, has taken rest in my bosom.28Vosotros diréis entonces: «¿Por qué lo hemos perseguido?» Pues quedará descubierta la justicia de mi causa. Why then do you now say: “Let us pursue him, and let us find a basis to speak against him?”29Temed la espada, porque terribles son las venganzas de la espada; para que sepáis que hay un juicio.” So then, flee from the face of the sword, for the sword is the avenger of iniquities; but know this: there is to be a judgment.
