Job 23
1Respondió Job y dijo: Then Job answered by saying:2Cierto que hoy es amarga mi queja; pero más grande que ella es mi carga. Now again my conversation is in bitterness, and the force of my scourging weighs more heavily on me because of my mourning.3¡Oh, quién me diera a conocer dónde hallarle a Él! Me llegaría hasta su trono, Who will grant me that I might know and find him, and that I may approach even to his throne?4expondría delante de Él mi causa, y llenaría mi boca de argumentos. I would place judgment before his eye, and my mouth would fill with criticism,5Quisiera saber las palabras que Él me respondería, y entender sus razones. so that I may know the words that he will answer me and understand what he will say to me.6¿Acaso me opondría Él su gran poder? ¡No! Seguro que me atendería. I do not want him to contend with me with much strength, nor to overwhelm me with the bulk of his greatness.7Entonces el justo disputaría con Él; para siempre quedaría yo absuelto por el que me juzga. Let him show fairness in response to me, and let my judgment reach to victory.8Pero si voy al oriente, no está allí, si hacia el occidente, no le diviso, If I go to the east, he does not appear; if I go to the west, I will not understand him.9si me vuelvo al norte, no le descubro, si hacia el mediodía, tampoco le veo. If I turn to the left, what can I do? I will not take hold of him. If I turn myself to the right, I will not see him.10Él, empero, conoce el camino que sigo. Que me pruebe; yo saldré como el oro. Truly, he knows my way and has tested me like gold that passes through fire.11Mi pie siguió siempre sus pasos, guardé siempre su camino sin desviarme en nada. My feet have been following his footsteps; I have kept to his way and have not strayed from it.12No me he apartado del mandamiento de sus labios, más que mis necesidades personales he atendido las palabras de su boca. I have not withdrawn from the commands of his lips, and the words of his mouth I have hidden in my sinews.13Pero Él no cambia de opinión; ¿quién podrá disuadirle? Lo que le place, eso lo hace, For he is alone, and no one is able to disturb his intention; and whatever his spirit wills, that he accomplishes.14ÉL cumplirá lo decretado sobre mí; y aún tiene planeadas muchas cosas semejantes. And when he fulfills his will in me, many other similar ones will also be present with him.15Por eso estoy turbado ante Él; cuando pienso en ello, me sobreviene temor. And, for this reason, I have been troubled at his presence, and, when I consider him, I am approached by fear.16Dios ha aterrado mi corazón, el Omnipotente me ha conturbado. God has weakened my heart, and the Almighty has confused me.17Porque lo que me consume no es la tiniebla, ni la oscuridad que me cubre el rostro.” Yet I have not perished because of the threatening darkness, nor has gloom covered my face.
