Job 40

1Yahvé siguió hablando a Job desde el torbellino, y dijo: But the Lord, answering Job out of the whirlwind, said:2“Cíñete los lomos como varón; voy a preguntarte y tú me instruirás. Gird your waist like a man. I will question you, and you must answer me.3¿Quieres tú de veras negar mi justicia, condenarme a Mí para justificarte a ti mismo? Will you make my judgment null and void; and will you condemn me so that you may be justified?4¿Tienes tú un brazo como el de Dios, y puedes tronar con voz semejante a la suya? And do you have an arm like God, or a voice like thunder?5Adórnate de alteza y majestad, y revístete de gloria y grandeza. Envelop yourself with splendor, and raise yourself up on high, and be glorious, and put on splendid garments.6Derrama los torrentes de tu ira; mira a todo orgulloso y humíllalo. Scatter the arrogant with your wrath, and, when you see all the arrogant, humble them.7Mira a todo soberbio y abátelo, aplasta a los malvados donde estén. Look down upon each of the arrogant and confound them, and crush the impious in their place.8Escóndelos a todos en el polvo, y cubre su rostro con tinieblas. Hide them in the dust together and plunge their faces into the pit.9Yo entonces te alabaré, porque tu diestra podrá salvarte. Then I will confess that your right hand is able to save you.10Mira a Behemot, creado por Mí lo mismo que tú. Come hierba como el buey; Behold, the behemoth, whom I created along with you, eats hay like an ox.11y ve que su fuerza está en sus lomos, y su vigor en los músculos de su vientre. His strength is in his lower back, and his power is in the center of his abdomen.12Endurece su cola como un cedro; y los nervios de sus muslos son como un solo tejido. He draws up his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs have been drawn together.13Sus huesos son tubos de bronce, sus costillas como planchas de hierro. His bones are like pipes of brass; his cartilage is like plates of iron.14Es la primera de las obras de Dios; Él que lo hizo le dio una espada. He is the beginning of the ways of God, who made him; he will use him as his sword.15Los montes le ofrecen alimento, (alrededor de él) retozan todas las bestias del campo. The mountains bring forth grass for him; all the beasts of the field will play there.16Duerme debajo de los lotes, en la espesura de los juncos y pantanos. He sleeps in the shadows, under the cover of branches, and in moist places.17Los lotos le cubren con su sombra, y le rodean los sauces del río. The shadows cover his shadow; the willows of the brook will encircle him.18Al desbordar el río no se amedrenta; se queda tranquilo aunque el Jordán le llegue a la garganta. Behold, he will drink a river and not be amazed, and he has confidence that the Jordan could flow into his mouth.19Fascina la (presa) con los ojos, y su nariz perfora las redes. He will seize him through his eyes, as if with a hook, and he will bore through his nostrils, as if with stakes.20¿Pescas tú con anzuelo a Leviatán, y atas con una cuerda su lengua? Can you draw out the leviathan with a hook, and can you bind his tongue with a cord?21¿Le meterás un junco en la nariz, le taladrarás con un gancho la quijada? Can you place a ring in his nose, or bore through his jaw with an arm band?22¿Acaso te dirigirá muchas súplicas, o te dirá palabras tiernas? Will he offer many prayers to you, or speak to you quietly?23¿Hará pacto contigo? ¿Lo tomarás por perpetuo esclavo? Will he form a covenant with you, and will you accept him as a servant forever?24¿Juguetearás con él como con un pájaro? ¿Lo atarás para tus hijas? Will you play with him as with a bird, or tether him for your handmaids?25¿Lo tomarán los amigos para comida? ¿Se lo repartirán entre sí los mercaderes? Will your friends cut him into pieces, will dealers distribute him?26¿Horadarás su cuero con flechas, y con el arpón su cabeza? Will you fill up bags with his hide, and let his head be used as a home for fishes?27Pon (una vez) en él tu mano; y no olvidarás el combate; no volverás a hacerlo. Place your hand upon him; remember the battle and speak no more.28He aquí que la esperanza (de los cazadores) es vana; su solo aspecto basta para echarlos por tierra.” Behold, his hope will fail him, and in the sight of all, he will be thrown down.
