Job 41
1“Nadie es tan audaz que le despierte. ¿Quién es capaz de mantenerse en pie delante de Mí? I will not rouse him, as the cruel would do, for who is able to withstand my countenance?2¿Quién me dio algo primero, para que Yo lo recompense? Mío es lo que hay bajo todo el cielo. Who has given to me beforehand, so that I should repay him? All things that are under heaven are mine.3No callaré sus miembros, su fuerza, la armonía de sus proporciones. I will not spare him, nor his powerful words and counterfeit attempts at supplication.4¿Quién puede abrir las mallas de su cota, franquear la doble fila de sus dientes? Who can reveal the beauty of his garment? And who can enter the middle of his mouth?5Las puertas de su boca ¿quién jamás las ha abierto?; el cerco de sus dientes causa espanto. Who can open the doors of his face? I gave fear to the circle of his teeth.6Su espalda cubren escamas en forma de escudos, compactas como un sello de piedra. His body is like shields fused together, like dense scales pressed over one another.7Se traba una con otra tan íntimamente, que el aire no puede pasar entre ellas. One is joined to another, and not even air can pass between them.8Una está pegada a la otra; asidas entre sí no pueden separarse. They adhere to one another, and they hold themselves in place and will not be separated.9Sus estornudos son chispas de fuego, sus ojos como los párpados de la aurora. His sneezing has the brilliance of fire, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.10De su boca salen llamas y se escapan centellas de fuego. Lamps proceed from his mouth, like torches of fire burning brightly.11Sus narices arrojan humo, como de olla encendida e hirviente. Smoke passes out of his nostrils, like a pot that is heated and boiling.12Su resoplido enciende carbones y su boca despide llamaradas. His breath causes coal to burn, and a flame comes forth from his mouth.13En su cerviz reside la fuerza, ante él tiembla el mismo espanto. Strength dwells in his neck, and destitution goes before his presence.14Aun las partes flojas de su carne están unidas entre sí, sin que quede resquicio ni posibilidad de oscilar. The parts of his body work in harmony together. He will send lightning bolts against him, and they will not be carried to another place.15Su corazón es duro como piedra; tan duro como la muela inferior. His heart will be as hard as a stone and as dense as a blacksmith’s anvil.16Cuando se alza tienen miedo los más valientes, y de terror están fuera de sí. When he will be raised up, the angels will be afraid, and, because they are terrified, they will purify themselves.17La espada que le acomete se rompe, lo mismo que la lanza, el dardo y la coraza. When a sword catches up with him, it will not be able to settle in, nor a spear, nor a breastplate.18Estima como paja el hierro, y el bronce como leña carcomida. For he will consider iron as if it were chaff, and brass as if it were rotten wood.19No le pone en fuga el hijo del arco; las piedras de la honda le parecen paja. The archer will not cause him to flee; the stones of the sling have been turned into stubble for him.20La maza es para él como hojarasca, y se ríe del silbido del venablo. He will treat the hammer as if it were stubble, and he will ridicule those who brandish the spear.21Su vientre tiene puntas de teja, se arrastra cual trillo sobre el cieno. The beams of the sun will be under him, and he will dispense gold to them as if it were clay.22Hace hervir el abismo como olla, y el mar como caldero de ungüentos. He will make the depths of the sea boil like a pot, and he will set it to bubble just as ointments do.23Tras él un surco de luz, de modo que el abismo parece canoso. A path will shine after him; he will esteem the abyss as if it were weakening with age.24No hay en la tierra semejante a él, pues fue creado para no tener miedo. There is no power on the earth that is being compared to him, who has been made so that he fears no one.25Mira (con desprecio) lo más alto; es rey de todos los soberbios.” He sees every prominent thing; he is king over all the sons of arrogance.
