1Tocad la trompeta en Sión, dad la voz de alarma en mi santo monte. Tiemblen los moradores todos de la tierra, porque viene el día de Yahvé; ya está cerca. Blow the trumpet in Zion, wail on my holy mountain, let all the inhabitants of the land be stirred up. For the day of the Lord is on its way; for it is near:2Día de oscuridad y de densas tinieblas, día de nubes y de sombras espesas. Como la aurora sobre las montañas, así se derrama un pueblo numeroso y fuerte, tal como nunca ha existido desde el principio, ni existirá después de él en el transcurso de las generaciones. a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and whirlwinds. Like the morning reaching over the mountains, they are a numerous and strong people. Nothing like them has existed since the beginning, nor will exist after them, even in the years of generation upon generation.3Delante de él va fuego devorador, y en pos de él llama abrasadora. Delante de él la tierra es como un jardín de Edén, y detrás de él un desierto, una desolación. No hay quien pueda librarse de su poder. Before their face is a devouring fire, and behind them is a burning flame. The land before them is like a lush garden, and behind them is a desolate desert, and there is no one who can escape them.4Su aspecto es como el aspecto de caballos, y como jinetes, así corren. Their appearance is like the appearance of horses, and they will rush forward like horsemen.5Saltan sobre las cimas de las montañas con un estruendo semejante al de los carros; su ruido es como el crepitar de llamas de fuego que devoran la paja; y como un pueblo fuerte, así se ordenan para batalla. Like the sound of a four-horse chariot, they will leap over the tops of the mountains. Like the sound of a burning flame devouring stubble, they are as a strong people prepared for battle.6A su presencia se estremecen las naciones y todas las caras se ponen pálidas. Before their face, the people will be tortured; each one’s appearance will retreat, as if into a jar.7Corren como campeones, como hombres de guerra escalan el muro, marchan cada cual por su senda, sin desviarse de su camino. They will rush forward, as if they were strong. Like valiant warriors, they will ascend the wall. The men will advance, each one on his own way, and they will not turn aside from their path.8No se empujan unos a otros, cada uno sigue su rumbo; y aun cayendo sobre espadas no se hacen daño. And each one will not hem in his brother; every one will walk in his own rough path. Moreover, they will drop through the breach and not be harmed.9Asaltan la ciudad, corren por el muro, escalan las casas, entran por las ventanas como el ladrón. They will advance into the city; they will rush through the wall. They will scale the houses; they will go in through the windows, like a thief.10Ante ellos tiembla la tierra, se conmueve el cielo; el sol y la luna se oscurecen, y las estrellas pierden su resplandor. Before their face, the earth has trembled, the heavens have been moved. The sun and moon have been obscured, and the stars have retracted their splendor.11Yahvé hace resonar su voz al frente de sus batallones, pues muy grande es su ejército, y fuertes son los que ejecutan sus órdenes. Porque grande es el día de Yahvé y muy terrible, ¿quién podrá soportarlo? And the Lord has bestowed his voice before the face of his army. For its military camps are very numerous; for they are strong and they carry out his word. For the day of the Lord is great and so very terrible, and who can withstand it?12Ahora, pues, dice Yahvé, convertíos a Mí de todo vuestro corazón; con ayuno, con llanto y plañido. Now, therefore, the Lord says: “Be converted to me with your whole heart, in fasting and weeping and mourning.”13Rasgad vuestros corazones, y no vuestros vestidos, y volveos a Yahvé, vuestro Dios; porque Él es benigno y misericordioso, tardo para airarse y de mucha clemencia, y le duele el mal. And rend your hearts, and not your garments, and convert to the Lord your God. For he is gracious and merciful, patient and full of compassion, and steadfast despite ill will.14¿Quién sabe si volviéndose no se arrepentirá, y dejará tras sí bendición, ofrenda y libación para Yahvé, vuestro Dios? Who knows if he might convert and forgive, and bequeath a blessing after him, a sacrifice and a libation to the Lord your God?15Tocad la trompeta en Sión, promulgad un ayuno, convocad una solemne asamblea. Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call an assembly.16Congregad al pueblo, convocad a junta; reunid a los ancianos, juntad a los párvulos y los niños de pecho; salga de su cámara el joven esposo, y de su tálamo la esposa. Gather the people, sanctify the church, unite the elders, gather together the little ones and infants at the breast. Let the bridegroom depart from his bed, and the bride from her bridal chamber.17Entre el pórtico y el altar lloren los sacerdotes, ministros de Yahvé, y digan: “¡Apiádate, Yahvé, de tu pueblo, y no abandones al oprobio la herencia tuya, entregándolos al dominio de los gentiles. ¿Por qué ha de decirse entre las naciones: ¿Dónde está su Dios?” Between the vestibule and the altar, the priests, the ministers of the Lord, will weep, and they will say: “Spare, O Lord, spare your people. And do not bequeath your inheritance into disgrace, so that the nations would rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’ ”18Yahvé ardiendo en celos por su tierra, se ha compadecido de su pueblo; The Lord has been zealous for his land, and he has spared his people.19y respondiendo dice Yahvé a su pueblo: Mirad, Yo os enviaré trigo, vino y aceite, y os saciaréis con ello; y no os haré ya más objeto de oprobio entre las naciones. And the Lord responded, and he said to his people: “Behold, I will send you grain and wine and oil, and you will again be filled with them. And I will no longer give you disgrace among the Gentiles.20Alejaré de vosotros a aquel (que viene) del norte, y lo empujaré hacia una tierra árida y desierta, su vanguardia hacia el mar oriental, y su retaguardia hacia el mar occidental; y subirá su fetidez y se alzará su hedor, por haber obrado con soberbia. And he who is from the North, I will drive far from you. And I will expel him into an impassable land, and into the desert, with his face opposite the Eastern sea, and his furthest part towards the furthest sea. And his stench will ascend, and his rottenness will ascend, because he has acted arrogantly.21No temas, tierra, gózate y alégrate, porque Yahvé ha hecho cosas maravillosas. Earth, do not be afraid. Exult and rejoice. For the Lord has great esteem for what he has done.22No temáis, animales del campo; pues reverdecen los pastos del desierto; los árboles dan su fruto, y la higuera y la vid sus riquezas. Animals of the countryside, do not be afraid. For the beauty of the wilderness has sprung forth. For the tree has borne its fruit. The fig tree and the vine have bestowed their virtue.23Saltad de gozo, hijos de Sión, y regocijaos en Yahvé, vuestro Dios; porque Él os dará al Maestro de la justicia; y hará caer sobre vosotros las lluvias, la lluvia temprana y la tardía, como anteriormente. And you, sons of Zion, exult and rejoice in the Lord your God. For he has given you a teacher of justice, and he will make the early and the late rains descend to you, just as it was in the beginning.24Se llenarán de trigo las eras, y los lagares rebosarán de vino y de aceite. And the threshing floors will be filled with grain, and the presses will overflow with wine and oil.25Os compensaré los años que comió la (langosta), la arbeh, la yélek, la chasil y la gazam, mi gran ejército que envié contra vosotros. And I will repay you for the years which the locust, and the beetle, and the mildew, and the caterpillar consumed: my great strength which I sent upon you.26Comeréis hasta saciaros, y alabaréis el Nombre de Yahvé, vuestro Dios, que ha hecho maravillas en favor de vosotros; y nunca jamás será confundido mi pueblo. And you will eat with enjoyment, and you will be satisfied, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God, who has worked miracles with you, and my people will not be confounded forever.27Sabréis que en medio de Israel estoy Yo, y que Yo soy Yahvé, vuestro Dios, y que no hay otro; y jamás será avergonzado el pueblo mío. And you will know that I am in the midst of Israel, and I am the Lord your God, and there is no other, and my people will not be confounded forever.28Después de esto, derramaré mi Espíritu sobre toda carne; profetizarán vuestros hijos y vuestras hijas; vuestros ancianos tendrán sueños, y vuestros jóvenes verán visiones. And after this, it will happen that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy; your elders will dream dreams, and your youths will see visions.29Aun sobre los siervos y las siervas derramaré mi Espíritu en aquellos días. Moreover, in those days I will pour out my spirit upon my servants and handmaids.30Haré prodigios en el cielo y en la tierra; sangre y fuego y columnas de humo. And I will grant wonders in the sky and on earth: blood and fire and the vapor of smoke.31El sol se convertirá en tinieblas, y la luna en sangre, antes que llegue el grande y terrible día de Yahvé. The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord shall arrive.32Y sucederá que todo aquel que invocare el Nombre de Yahvé será salvo. Porque, como dijo Yahvé, habrá salvación en el monte Sión y en Jerusalén, y entre los restos que habrá llamado Yahvé. And it will happen that everyone who will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved. For on Mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and in the remnant whom the Lord will call, there will be salvation, just as the Lord has said.
