Josué 5
1Todos los reyes de los amorreos que habitaban a la otra parte del Jordán, hacia el occidente, y todos los reyes de los cananeos que habitaban junto al mar, cuando oyeron que Yahvé había secado las aguas del Jordán delante de los hijos de Israel hasta que hubieron pasado, se desmayaron en su corazón y ya no quedó en ellos aliento, por miedo a los hijos de Israel. Therefore, after all the kings of the Amorites, who were living across the Jordan toward the western region, and all the kings of Canaan, who possessed the places beside the great sea, had heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan before the sons of Israel, until they crossed over it, their heart was broken, and there remained in them no spirit, out of fear at the entrance of the sons of Israel.2En aquel tiempo dijo Yahvé a Josué: “Hazte cuchillos de piedra y vuelve a circuncidar a los hijos de Israel por segunda vez.” So at that time, the Lord said to Joshua: “Make for yourself knives of stone, and circumcise the sons of Israel a second time.”3Hízose Josué cuchillos de piedra y circuncidó a los hijos de Israel en el collado de Aralot. He did what the Lord had commanded, and he circumcised the sons of Israel at the hill of the foreskins.4He aquí la causa porque Josué los circuncidó: Todo el pueblo que había salido de Egipto, los varones, todos los hombres de guerra, habían muerto en el desierto, en el camino, cuando salieron de Egipto. But the people who were born in the desert,6Porque los hijos de Israel anduvieron cuarenta años por el desierto, hasta perecer todo el pueblo, los hombres de guerra salidos de Egipto, por no haber obedecido la voz de Yahvé. A ellos Yahvé les juró que no les dejaría ver la tierra que con juramento había prometido a sus padres que nos la daría, tierra que mana leche y miel. throughout the forty years of the journey in the very broad wilderness, were uncircumcised, until the ones who had not listened to the voice of the Lord were consumed. For he had sworn to them before, that he would not reveal to them the land flowing with milk and honey.7A los hijos de aquellos que Él había suscitado en su lugar, los circuncidó Josué, porque eran incircuncisos; pues no los habían circuncidado en el camino. The sons of these ones succeeded to the place of their fathers, and they were circumcised by Joshua. For they were uncircumcised, just as they had been born, and no one had circumcised them along the way.8Después que todo el pueblo fue circuncidado, se quedaron en su lugar, dentro del campamento, hasta que sanaron. Then, after they were all circumcised, they remained in the same place of the camp until they were healed.9Dijo entonces Yahvé a Josué: “Hoy he quitado de sobre vosotros el oprobio de Egipto.” Y se llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Gálgala hasta el día de hoy. And the Lord said to Joshua, “Today I have taken away from you the disgrace of Egypt.” And the name of that place was called Gilgal, even to the present day.10Acamparon los hijos de Israel en Gálgala y celebraron la Pascua el día catorce del mes, por la tarde, en la llanura de Jericó. And the sons of Israel stayed at Gilgal, and they kept the Passover, on the fourteenth day of the month at evening, in the plains of Jericho.11Y comieron de los productos del país desde el día siguiente a la Pascua; en aquel mismo día (comieron) panes ácimos y trigo tostado. And on the following day, they ate unleavened bread from the grain of the land, and cooked grain, of the same year.12Al día siguiente de comer de los productos del país, cesó el maná, y en adelante los hijos de Israel ya no tuvieron el maná, sino que comieron en aquel año de los frutos del país de Canaán. And the manna ceased after they ate from the grain of the land. And the sons of Israel no longer made use of that food. Instead, they ate from the grain of the present year, from the land of Canaan.13Estando Josué cerca de Jericó, alzó los ojos y miró; y he aquí que estaba en pie delante de él un hombre con la espada desenvainada en la mano. Se le acercó Josué y le preguntó: “¿Eres tú de los nuestros, o de nuestros enemigos?” And when Joshua was in the field of the city of Jericho, he lifted up his eyes, and he saw a man standing opposite him, holding a drawn sword. And he went to him and said, “Are you one of ours, or one of our adversaries?”14Él respondió: “No, sino que soy el príncipe del ejército de Yahvé, que acabo de llegar.” And he responded: “Not at all. Instead, I am a prince of the host of the Lord, and now I have arrived.”15Entonces Josué cayó en tierra sobre su rostro, y adoró. Y le preguntó: “¿Qué dice mi Señor a su siervo?” Joshua fell prone on the ground. And reverencing, he said, “What does my lord say to his servant?”16El príncipe del ejército de Yahvé dijo a Josué: “Quítate el calzado de los pies, porque el lugar donde estás es santo.” Y Josué lo hizo así. He said: “Remove your shoes from your feet. For the place on which you stand is holy.” And Joshua did just as he had been commanded.
