Lamentaciones 5

1Acuérdate, Yahvé, de lo que nos ha sobrevenido, mira y considera nuestro oprobio. Remember, O Lord, what has befallen us. Consider and look kindly upon our disgrace.2Nuestra herencia ha pasado a manos de extranjeros, y nuestras casas en poder de extraños. Our inheritance has been turned over to foreigners; our houses to outsiders.3Hemos quedado huérfanos, sin padre, y nuestras madres son como viudas. We have become orphans without a father; our mothers are like widows.4A precio de plata tenemos que beber nuestra agua, y por dinero compramos nuestra leña. We paid for our drinking water. We acquired our wood for a price.5Somos perseguidos llevando (el yugo) sobre nuestro cuello; estamos fatigados, y no hay para nosotros descanso. We were dragged by our necks. Being weary, no rest was given to us.6Tendimos la mano a Egipto y a Asiria, para saciarnos de pan. We have given our hand to Egypt and to the Assyrians, so that we may be satisfied with bread.7Pecaron nuestros padres que ya no existen, y nosotros llevamos sus culpas. Our fathers have sinned, and are not. And we have carried their iniquities.8Nos dominan esclavos; y no hay quien (nos) libre de su mano. Servants have become rulers over us. There was no one to redeem us from their hand.9Con peligro de nuestra vida tratamos de conseguir nuestro pan, temiendo la espada del desierto. We obtained our bread at the risk of our lives, before the face of the sword, in the wilderness.10Nuestra piel se abrasa como un horno, a causa del ardor del hambre. Our skin was burned, as if by an oven, before the face of the tempest of the famine.11Deshonraron a las mujeres en Sión, a las vírgenes en las ciudades de Judá. They humiliated the women in Zion and the virgins in the cities of Judah.12Los príncipes fueron colgados de las manos y despreciados los rostros de los ancianos. The leaders were suspended by their hand. They were not ashamed before the faces of the elders.13Los mancebos llevan el molino, y los niños caen bajo la carga de leña. They have sexually abused the adolescents, and the children were corrupted in the wood.14Faltan los ancianos en la puerta, y los jóvenes han dejado de cantar. The elders have ceased from the gates, the youths from the choir of the psalms.15Cesó el gozo de nuestro corazón; se han tornado en duelo nuestras danzas. The gladness of our heart has failed, our singing has been turned into mourning.16Cayó de nuestra cabeza la diadema; ¡ay de nosotros, que hemos pecado! The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned.17Por eso está enfermo nuestro corazón, y se han oscurecido nuestros ojos: Because of this, our heart became gloomy; for this reason, our eyes have been darkened:18porque el monte Sión está desolado, y por él se pasean las raposas. because of mount Zion, because it was ruined. Foxes have wandered upon it.19Mas Tú, oh Yahvé, permaneces eternamente, tu trono (subsiste) de generación en generación. But you, O Lord, shall remain for eternity, your throne from generation to generation.20¿Cómo podrías olvidarte de nosotros para siempre, abandonarnos por largo tiempo? Why would you forget us forever? Why would you forsake us for a long time?21¡Conviértenos a Ti, Yahvé, y nos convertiremos! ¡Renueva nuestros días, para que sean como antes! Convert us, O Lord, to you, and we shall be converted. Renew our days, as from the beginning.22¿O nos has rechazado por completo? ¿Te has airado contra nosotros hasta el extremo? But you have utterly rejected us; you are vehemently angry against us.
